Happened to me a few days ago. Make sure you are connected to the internet, and start up a different game that has online mode, play that for a little bit, then go back to Minecraft. It should work now.

Hey guys, I have seen a few posts about this subject, but they are all mixed answers. Will the upcoming update, and future updates, be free?

I heard that Notch had to really push hard to get a certain amount of free updates, since Minecraft always has free updates. Does anyone have concrete evidence of wether it will be free or not?

Microsoft does not allow free updating normally unless its a quick patch, but not new content. The new content would be categorized as DLC, which microsoft gets a big portion of those sales, so its either no free updates, or a limited number of free updates.

So I had this idea for the way Minecraft 360 could be update.

Notch was given a limited number of free updates for Minecraft, but what if the updates were made as unlockable achievements? That way it would be easy for us to get them for free, and it wouldn't violate the contract, because it would be just like unlocking an avatar item.

Just an idea, I have no clue if this is possible, but I wanted to share it with you guys.
