With 1.2.4 coming out how difficult do you think this will get updated? I know a lot of people may be asking this but I am just wondering because this is the main mod I play with and I think this will be a hard mod not to play with.

It will be a lot easier and quicker to update Millénaire from 1.2.3 then it was to update from Minecraft 1.1. Minecraft 1.2.4 is a relatively minor update, and should be relatively easy and quick to provide mod updates for. Also Kinniken provides updates often, so it shouldn't be too long for a Millénaire update once 1.2.4 is released.

I was lost, a storm came, two skeletons were shooting at me, and I was getting only 3 FPS. I installed OptiFine, got 53 FPS, regained my health, killed the skeletons, and found my way home.

One of the downsides to how MC is setup. It'd be nice if it at least warned you before you try to enter a world that was created with mods in place that are no longer in place :(

I name all my worlds after the mods I'm using on it. I keep separate .minecraft folders for my different mod combinations.

Forge still isn't updated? Jesus. Be sure to tell spacetoad that he was the cause of my death.

ModloaderMP only just got updated 33 hours ago. Forge couldn't start updating until the ModloaderMP update came out.

ModloaderMP couldn't update until Modloader updated. I think it took SDK about 60 hours (2.5 days) to update ModloaderMP once Modloader was updated.

Risugami updated Modloader for 1.2.3 about a day after Minecraft 1.2.3 came out. Risugami couldn't start working on Modloader as soon as 1.2 came out because his work would have been quickly made vain when 1.2.2 and then 1.2.3 came out.

The Minecraft Coder Pack that nearly every modder uses was also updated about a day after 1.2.3 came out.

Everyone is doing their best to update their mods. Buts mods can't update until all their APIs, libraries, and other dependencies are updated. So most modders have to wait for other modders to update.

And for getting out of the Tropical realm, will it cost you a coin to cross the River Styx in Charon's boat, or something similar? Is that what MrRube alluded to? Surely you can give us some hint of how you'll leave the realm! :P

Hold a piña colada in your hand near a monkey. The monkey will run up to you. Put the piña colada away and give a coconut to the monkey. The monkey will get mad that you gave it a coconut instead of a piña colada. The monkey will throw the coconut at you, knocking you out. When you wake up, you will be back in the normal world and all your piña coladas will be gone.

Is anyone else wondering how one will get out of the Tropical realm? Besides dying, of course.

Is anyone else wondering why one would want out of the Tropicraft realm?

I wonder if the creepers really wear Hawaiian shirts there.

    Cojo you're such a swell guy :smile.gif:

EDIT: Has the way to the new realm been released yet? If not are you going to make us figure it out or tell us in the release?

In the FAQ it was alluded to that you need to get drunk on piña coladas to enter the Tropicraft realm. There won't be any bamboo and there might not be any palm trees in the normal realm, so it's unclear how you'll get the needed piña coladas.

I know of people who are making super high-res texturepacks for tropicraft, but idk about 32x32. If anyone makes a 32x32 pack and it was good I wouldn't have a problem putting it on the OP.

Here's a test of some 32x textures I'm working based on the textures in Tropicraft v2.5. I don't have the mod installed; these textures are just applied over regular Minecraft blocks.

My problem is that, with Fraps, I almost need to record in full screen to make videos. My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050, so halfsize won't work for HD, and I can't manage without HD... At half size? It works fine. I get my 30 frames, it only really drops below when loading a new chunk, but it's fine other than that. But full size? I'll stay at 30, but if I move a bit or jump or something? Drops hard. Stabilizes at like 18.

Are you having trouble setting your window at exactly 720p (1280x720)? You can download "Sizer" by Brian Apps to set your Minecraft window to exactly 1280x720 for optimal recording resolution.

Are you using any mods besides OptiFine? Some mods will really use a lot of CPU time. Finite Liquid and Millénaire are maxing out my 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo e8400, for example.

    Quote from EdgeTube
Speaking of Optifine, is it true that it gives you those chunk errors? Where there's just a hole in the world of untextured blocks?

I get this problem even without OptiFine installed, but it might happen more often when I'm using OptiFine. It seems to happen mostly while exploring.

What else is there? Is there a mod better than the two I've tried? A better way to allocate memory to the game? Is there some common FPS raising knowledge I've managed to not find out about? Is there another good

I don't know anything about allocating more memory, but make sure you're using 64-bit Java.

Since your using a 64-bit operation system, you should make sure you have a 64-bit version of Java installed and that Minecraft is using it over the 32-bit version. You can check if Minecraft is using a 64-bit Java or not by setting view distance to "far". If Minecraft is using 32-bit Java, red text will pop up when you switch to "far" warning that you are not using 64-bit Java.

OS: Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
    Processor: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.34 GHz
    RAM: 8gb
    System Type: 64 bit
Video card: ATI Radeon HD 4650 1024mb
    HDD: 1tb

What should I prioritize in updating? I'd like a better processor, but they're like a few hundred dollars each and maybe the most expensive part. I've got a quad core, so I hope that's good enough. What would be the best part to update for recording minecraft gameplay? Video card? I know it's old.

What texture pack are you using? Is it an HD pack or a 16x16 texture pack? Unless your using an HD texture pack, your graphics card should be sufficient.

As far as Fraps goes, the thing that makes Fraps lag is the hard drive. A good solid state drive should help a lot here.

If you want to upgrade your CPU, you should be aware that Intel is releasing a new CPU architecture in April. These chips will likely give you more performance for your dollar. And since this is for Minecraft, I highly recommend Intel over AMD. AMD's main benefit is it's many cores. Intel chips usually only have about 2 cores. Minecraft can only take advantage of one core, unless you have OptiFine installed. With OptiFine, Minecraft takes advantage of two cores.

If you get a new CPU now, the cheapest you will want to go is the i3 2100 for $115. This CPU is not the most powerful, but it gets you the most bang for the buck, even though it's the least powerful of the current generation of Intel chips.

Next up is the i3 2120 for $128, then the i3 2130 for $150, then the i5 2300 and i5 2400 for $180, the i5 2500 for $210, then if you want to over clock, the most powerful I would recommend is the i5 2500k for $225. These are the only CPUs you should really consider. If you are considering a different CPU please message me first, so I can save you from making a mistake.

While you're upgrading your CPU make sure you get lots of RAM too. RAM is cheap now days. Look on pcpartpicker.com; you can find 8GB of DDR3 RAM for less than $30 easily.
