Introduction:
Omen is a small community with mature and friendly members. Omen have existed since October 2011, but some of it's members have known each other long before that. The server running Omen is hosted by Cubedhost and owned by avantgeek.
Over the years, the members of Omen has become good friends. By focusing on trust, friendship and lojality - we've come a long way with our server. The server is divided up by settlements, each with their own set of rules and governance. You can choose if you want to wander the woods alone, or help a settlement grow bigger. We're aiming for a more realistic and mature minecraft experience. Omen also got a set of friendly mature admins, and hopefully, you won't even notice that they really are admins.

Rules:
PVP rules:
- No mans land is Free for all pvp, this means that if someone finds you outside of your settlement/house they can kill you and take your stuff, plan your defenses and base accordingly.
- You are safe inside the perimeter of your settlement, if you don't have a perimeter - you are safe inside your house (plan your house with hidden paths in and out).
- Nether is the same as no mans land even with a perimeter.
- End is no mans land.
- You cant attack people inside the perimeter of someone else's settlement, even if they are shooting at you from the inside.
- Only people with permission can enter a settlement, if you enter a settlement without permission they can decide to kill you on site and are entitled to your inventory, if you are a guest your invitation can be revoked and can get you killed just as easily be cautious who you trust.
- Encountering people underground is the same as no mans land, unless you enter a gateway or player made rooms underground which are within the rules of perimeters* any mining in to these area by accident demands that you go back the way you came* .
- You may not dig in to or under someones settlement, so don't try.
- You may not take or touch ANYTHING within a house or settlement without permission, looters = permabann.
World Rules:
- You cannot build ANYTHING within 500 blocks from spawn (this means that the coords must display over 500 + or - in any given direction) This includes no mining holes, but breaking rock from walls etc is fine. Leaving half chopped trees is not allowed.
- Strongholds cannot be claimed and made a into a base.
- No one can own ground in the nether or the end.
- No one can claim testificate villages (unless they build a base on top of them).
- Stuff found in no mans land eg. chests, mine shafts, hidden dungeons etc are considered free for all loot.
- People can create pvp safe zones in no mans land by creating small structures like tent encampments where chests and other items can be stored without others being allowed to loot them (a perimeter can be made larger with fence posts marking the size of camp) - You cannot exploit this encampment rule to block other settlers construction.
- A settlement only needs 1 player to get formed. If the settlement is abandoned for some time 4 weeks+ its free to loot.
- There is an initial pop-cap of 5 players per settlement. Later the pop-cap might get removed.
- Settlements can be built as close or as far away as the builder pleases, if a settlement builds too close to your own, you can keep harassing them with pvp till they get tired and move away
- Try not to explore outside the 10 000 block mark.
- The one who made the settlement makes the final rules for how its run.
- Events has its own set of rules.
- You may not mine adventure dungeons for rare blocks.
Admin rules:
Admins reserve the right to use any means necessary to ensure a positive mood on the server, obnoxious behavior or actions will get you kicked / banned.
Trying to mess with admins authority will earn you a few days ban.
Any actions attempted to find loopholes in the rules to create a bad vibe for the other players will earn you a few days ban (don't do stuff thats considered bad taste)
Breaking the rules above puts you in the mercy of the server admins, ban or fines may be distributed.

Introduction:
Omen is a small community with mature and friendly members. Omen have existed since October 2011, but some of it's members have known each other long before that. Rules:
1. No griefing. This is not a PvP server. Though, if your and another/other faction(s) have declared war against each other, you are only allowed to grief if all involved factions agree that it is allowed.
2. No killing unless your and another/other faction(s) have declared war against each other - you are only allowed to kill members of the enemy faction(s).
3. No stealing unless your and another/other faction(s) have declared war against each other - you are only allowed to steal from members of the enemy faction(s).
4. No spying on any enemy faction unless at least of one of that factions members, is online.
5. No harassment of other players. This rule still applies during- or/and after war.
6. Only the leader(s) of a faction have the rights to declare war against another/other faction(s). This rule may be superseded by different ruling/governmental systems.
7. No cheating. Please refrain from using mods or texture packs that may alter the game in that way it gives you an advantage over other members.
Factionless players/outcast rules:

On the forming of the world and the game of sponges

Being a young Universe is no cakewalk. Here I am, just a few eons old, and seemingly intelligent life has already appeared. A dozen or so lost souls, already reaping the bounties of the Over and Nether.
They move so fast.
They awoke me from my dream as they spawned. Their birthspawn was so small and frail that, as I opened my eye, it almost crumbled. I barely managed to preserve it.
Perhaps more will come?
The Firstborn are always special. Elves, Elohim, Children of the Forest, Neanderthals. Not since the 70 Sons of Asherah have I seen Firstborns with such potential. At first some wondered if there was a God involved--I even got the name Avantus by some--but this lot seems to be more rational than that. They understand that Nature needs no Intelligent Designer. Perhaps they will be the ones who finally break the code of the Multiverse?
As the Laws dictate, competition is the strongest evolutionary force. The Firstborn therefore did well as they split in two groups and went to explore the Universe. This is as it should be, and has been, over and over before: Good against Evil. Yinyang. Left and Right. Design/Emergence. Spy vs. Spy.
They chose Red and Blue. I like that. My last mole or so of Universes have all used the Black-White scale, which only allows for two sides (even when they do get creative with their shades of grey). The spectrum of colors is so much richer than that. It leaves room open for more competing forces.
From the first day, the Firstborn showed that they wanted to play. And playing is just another name for creative competition.
So I let them play.
Their Universe is young, but it has been through a cycle of life before this one. It did not prosper back then, and the most advanced life that appeared were sponges. When I saw that this path of life would never evolve beyond these, I squeezed the world dry and let it burn and start anew. The sponges I kept in storage would find purpose as a new strain of life emerged.
The sponge was my first omen. An omen that the Universe is sentient, and wants to play as well. As they raced from their Birthplace to their respective bases, I awarded a sponge to the first group to settle.
It didn't go too well. They may have misunderstood, or just careless. In any case the sponge was lost forever. It made me understand that there could never just be one sponge in the world, they are much too fragile. So I devised a game.
A Game of Sponges.
After the groups had settled and I had watched them for a while, I returned to their birthplace and set out another sponge. I called on the Firstborn through the Primal Chat that links all thought in the Universe and had them race back to where they came from.
The purpose was twofold: To make the groups come to Birth to talk to each other, trade and compete; and to let them know that they can--to a certain extent--communicate and control their Universe through willpower alone.
This first game was won by the other group, and now both sides understand the importance of taking care of their sponges.
Using willpower to communicate with the universe sounds like prayer to many, but the groups understood quickly that they cannot merely ask for something and have a Seemingly Irrational Godlike Being of Omnipotencial Power chose to give it to them if he's in the mood. Nor is willpower in any way favoured to one side. No groups' "Interpretation" (mad dreams more like it) of an ancient myth will be more right than the others, and a "God" will never be on anyone's side. The very last Universe this happened in caused all sorts of Griefing as the tribes fought over silly stuff like a "Holy Land". They even tried BRIBING this "God" by wasting their resources on rituals, offerings and temples. Sheesh...
Better to set the rules straight from the beginning.
The sponges are soft, the softest substance in the Universe. They have several uses, but the first and foremost is to serve as the foundations for a Sponge Throne. When a Sponge Throne is built, the leader of the group can lean back and think thoughts through in a rational, careful way. The more Sponges the throne has, the softer the seating and better the thoughts. (I remember an earlier Universe where they built a throne out of sharp swords--suffice to say it was NOT a pretty story after a few generations of leaders who constantly got pricked in the ass!)
As you learn the Game of Sponges, more will appear as prizes to teams who show their abilities. The most important ability, and a prerequisite for being in the Game at all, is that the sides themselves set the rules.
Nature only provides the playing fields, the game concepts and -- of course -- the prizes. Exactly who wins and how is agreed by the group leaders in advance. Every time. All groups have the right to compete for a sponge, but the groups can also choose to let nature develop a game further if they believe it is not finished or fair. After all, they are the ones who live in this Universe, I merely AM the universe.
I am still young, and there will be many changes along the way. This is the way it is, has been and always shall be. Change is the only constant in the Multiverse, it is indeed the driving force behind everything that happens.
There is no purpose, no destiny. Only change, and the survival of the fittest.
My first message to the Fristborn was therefore: prepare yourself for a changing world. The closer you get to your Birthplace, the more frequent and big the changes will be. Learn to explore this area, as new creations emerge, playing fields appear and treasures get hidden. If you choose to build inside this Neutral Zone, the Universe may damage or destroy your creations as mountains are lifted, oceans are moved and deserts grow and shrink.
My second message is this: As you learn to explore, and to appreciate the creations, there will appear another Omen, something so out of the ordinary that no normal creative powers can act on it. When you learn to control it, though, you can learn to access to the Voxelforce. The group who controls the Voxelforce will be able to nudge the forces of creation to change the world outside the Neutral Zone.
The day may come when day you can summon your very own canyons, world trees and mighty mountains.
For now, I give you a new challenge, a new area, and a new sponge to conquer:
To the icy northeast of birthspawn there lies a big mountain, a mountain which spews lava and stones from the bottom of the world. This is the stage for the SNOWBALLS CHANCE challenge. Leaders of the Teams, you are hereby instructed to agree on the rules of engagement, the time and how to declare a winner. When you have agreed, and when the Universe allows, a Sponge will appear there, and you can gather your teams for another Game.
What the above means:
- There will be several sponges. After your discussions, it was clear that this would provide more fun, a certain way to keep a score (which means nothing but honor at the moment) and less chance of the game just turning into an endless PvP CTF.
- You guys have a lot more gameplay experience than me. Therefore, I need your help to tell me if a game or challenge will be fun/rewarding/challenging. Also, I will try to create a general idea of a game. Detailed rules/scoring is up to you, but should of course be agreed by both parties before a Sponge Game.
- I have just started to play around with Voxelsniper and am already loving terraforming. I have seen a Nether gate and at least one secret entrance within the boundaries of my Map_0 (spawn in the centre). You are free to build here, and I will try to include any builds into the terraforming, but constructions within this map may get destroyed (I think I accidentally griefed a chest close to one of your bridges yesterday). I will expand gradually outwards in all 4 directions, but only up to your 1000m borders to the North and South. You have been warned.
- No exploitation or griefing of the Neutral Zone! I will from time to time use materials that are hard to obtain. Leave these alone. Again, feel free to build stuff, but if you start hacking away on my obsidian I will be most dissapointed.

So anyways, I was walking around on a server until I saw the sun peeking over the peak of a mountain. I thought it looked nice, so I thought I'd share it. I was using my WIP resource pack while taking the picture. That's why the textures are different and the sun is more rounded.

Edit: some stats its 25 maps 5 across same up/down and it covers about 2500 blocks from edge to edge

I think the next project should be to build a snazzy redstone device that the user can select a section of the map and the right blocks get pushed into place to make a corespondent viewing platform for that section of the map. -

I've been looking for islands and found this one, thought it was pretty decent. From where you spawn maybe 150 due north there is a village attached to an island as well as a water temple next to the island.

Though there have been many changes to MineCraft since 1.5 beta I still very much enjoy trying to challenge myself with what I can build even after almost 4 years. I take inspiration from the amazing MC community and am always amazed at what people can build/create.

There's at least 3 ravines here that I've found so far. The water falling down goes through an upper ravine and ends in another ravine that's below the top one. Hope you guys enjoyed the images!
