woops... old habits die hard I guess. you do this so often and you begin to just do it as you know it. Commonly you'll find its one of many or just one. I picked the one I though I could do best. I'll just go do the others now.

Walking down the streets of the Undercity, you encounter a pair of heavily armed and armoured men harassing a young girl.

*Jercio notices then carries on. That is until he hears a couple of terms used to depict the lass. Turning around with an emphasized step Jercio approaches the men.*

“I do believe we reserve that word for certain others.”

*The first man looks Jercio in the eyes and begins to chuckle.*

*The other makes sure the girl does not slip away.*

“Ahaha… how bout you run along.”

“Oh trust me I’d be happy to as soon as you apologize to the lady.” *Jercio returns the glare with his own cold focused eyes.*

    “I said run along.”

“No you suggested it. I’m not agreeing. Now I am insisting you apologize before I make you do it from your knees.”

“Belligerent little ****” *The first growls and draws his sword.*

“I’m going to be late again…” * Jercio shakes his head and the with a gruff sigh relaxes his muscles.*

*The man takes a heavy downward swing at Jercio.*

*Jercio steps diagonally to dodge and is now half a step behind the man. Jercio violently pushes the man’s helm forward causing the visor to hit him hard on the bridge of the nose and blind him for a moment.*

*The man takes a blind horizontal swing, but the blade strikes against the wall.*

*Jercio in the same instant smacks his hand against the flat of the blade knocking it out of the man’s hand.*

*having now fixed his helm, the man turns to face Jercio again. His nose his slightly bloodied.*

“Buerk. You can let the girl go. I think we need to handle teaching this one some lessons about fighting.”

“Trust me there’s little to learn from fools like you.”

*The second man suddenly kicks Jercio in the back sending him flying into the first.*

“Ok fine. Element of surprise but that is basic.”

*The first man grabs Jercio by the collar and hoists him up*

“You really should have just run before.”

    “No. You should have apologized.”

*Jercio spits in the man’s eye and hits him hard in the nose. With his hand covered in blood and the other man stumbling back Jercio grabs the first man’s sword and looks to the second.*

*He’s drawn his own sword, but it’s a much shorter one meant for younger or just smaller people.*
*the reach does the man in as Jercio unleashes fast strikes, even though weak they make decent marks in the armor, and leave the second man toppled over against the wall*

“How bout you run along?” *Jercio chuckles as the two look at each other and run off*

“and of course I’m to picking up that bowstring. Probably already been sold off. This is why I hate helping people. Decent or not I always get the bum deal.”

    -----------------------

You’ve been lost in the tunnels for nearly a week without food, and come across a small independent settlement.

*Jercio attempts to trade the few resources he picked up for food, but only earns meager amounts of coin.*

“You’re kidding me I can’t even buy bread with this!?”

“No, its supply and demand. I gotta sell what I got for the best profit.”

“Look it’s you’re profit or my life. Quite frankly if you were even a slight bit decent you’d try to make a deal. Ya know what give me the crystal back.”

*The shopkeep gives Jercio the crystal rock back*

“That this is mostly worthless anyway.”

    “Still works for this”

*Jercio throws the crystal at the man hitting him hard in the chest.*

“Now I’ll give you the coin I have and I’ll be taking four loaves. Also if this rock is so worthless why do you got one sitting up on your shelf in a case. Next time you try to scam a wanderer hide your collection.”

    ------------------

In a tavern, a slightly inebriated fellow insults your mother.

“And that she was, but my mother she is no less, so I say to you. Why is your mother any greater?”

*The man downs another pint before answering*

“Well ya see… way long ago my mum… she’d do this thing with the chickens and this oh whats it called…”

    *Jercio interupts*

“Wait so you’re mum is great for something with chickens? Now my mother may have been a tart, but at least she had taste..”

    *Jercio chuckles at his pun*

“Look mate you wanna debate this or finish the game of… of… ZZZzzzzZZzzzz”

“No. I’d like you to be a heavy sleeper.”

*Jercio laughs taking his bets from the table and leaving half the other mans. He also leaves the *

“I was half way to winning, but this will do.”

    ----------------

You take a liking to a beautiful necklace a passing woman wears.

    *Jercio grumbles to himself*

“I thought we were refugees, not nobles. Honestly I’d rather we all be peasants then few have the power.”

*The lady overhears and turns around*

“I’ll have you know that by birthright I”

“Quiet. By birth right I should be leading the armies of Ragau. it’s the actions we take that determine what we do get.”

    “Why I…”
“Why you what? You probably have never lifted a finger in your life. Probably got carried here by your manservant. Where is he now prepping the cobbles down the road so your shoes don’t get dirty? Its swine like you who corrupt the nobility. Your no more noble then the roaches in the earth.”

*The woman scoffs and hurries off.*

“Ingrate fool probably had a ***** of a mother.”

*At this Jercio tails her keeping a distance, but when he see the house she is about to enter throws a stone and runs.*

“Those underground should not have glass windows. Too many falling rocks.”

alright then. Trust me I understand the need to get good people writing the lore. The last server I was on the owner let one of the mods do it and it was complete . It was too much and too little. it was probably eight paragraphs on just wars that had no impact. overall it may as well have been a 2nd graders book report.

anyway those things aside what say you on the rest of the app?

well I meant OOCly. I'm actually attempting at becoming an author. I'm even going to attending university for a writing program (you know words and what naught).

As for Jercio perhaps a journal. might be a nice touch. after all he needs to re establish his name, and to keep others remembering a history may be useful.

    Out of Character Information

    IGN: Jericho_Neric

    Real-Life Age: 17

Do you have a Skype? If so, what is your Skype Name? (This is by no means required and holds no weight on your acceptance. We just use Skype a lot): I’ll be willing to disclose once I’ve gotten into the community.

Have you read all of the rules, agree to abide by them, and by the decisions of our staff?: I can find agreement in just about everything though the disease of lycanthropy is a legitimate character trait, but only if done right.

What is the definition of “Powergaming”?: I’m assuming this is not quoting you, but power gaming comes down to players A. creating a character who is so totally perfect that they can’t lose, and roleplaying in a way that reflects that. B. doing PvP in a manner as to abuse what you have instead of giving the other person fair chance as this is an RP. C. refusing to lose in any situation (without being a stubborn character that is still losing just not admitting it Icly) and acting as a god.

I’ll admit those are a bit vague, but it’s something that comes in many forms, and one of my ideas of powrgaming is a bit of meta as well so I’m putting it there.

What is the definition of “Metagaming”?: Meta is using outside content within the RP. This includes abusing OOC conversation, the arrows on maps, and abuse of in game mechanics like bugs. The abuse of game mechanics like the fact that you can still deal dmg to a person in full iron with just your fists. This section also includes greifing to travel (towers and tunnels to get into otherwise inaccessible areas.

What is the definition of “Roleplay”?: well basically playing a role. In depth… well it’s the integration of many individual characters that all have different backgrounds, and how their stories intertwine. RP is really like a big book with many many authors. Every character supplies a new aspect, and is meant to add to the world.

Who can use flymod, X-ray and other such clientsided mods?: no one. Quite frankly the only ones who would need it are admins but they’d have access to creative and what naught.

When are you allowed to cause the death of another character?: with the consent of the character’s player.

When are you allowed to speak out of character?: when you are not engaged in RP. It’s alright if you’re keeping out of RP, and simply say hi to everyone when you jump on or something.

Have you read the primary server lore of our server and agree to roleplay in accordance with it?: seems alright the reset in the world seems to balance out anything I saw unfit at the start.

Who is allowed to use magic?: those with permission, which is earned by presenting an “exceptional” app. Personally I would aim for this, but due to the degree at which it seems to be used (it seems meant for mages) I wouldn’t enjoy it for my character. (I have a tendency to play an arcane archer, but a normal one shall do.)

How did the Humans come to be in the Caves?: with the chaos caused by the war refugees came to Roland’s Basin where they are later forced into the caves.

OR Uhm no... sorry went back and read again.

Well I guess full apocalypse is a bit better of a reason can't really fight lava...

What are the Shrines?: point at which the undergods place blessing upon whatever group controls the area.

What previous roleplay experience have you had, if any?: been server roleplaying since I got minecraft (been a mod and admin twice), and been forum Rping for about three years.

If you have played on other RP servers, please say which and why you left: Dragonsreach-died
    Athenryl-died
Assassins creep- far too much restrictions removing the entire minecraft element.
And a couple of other small ones.

I do feel I need to put this in here though I understand its point of being here this section is a bit excessive. I’ll spend a good couple hours on my characters, but when I need to spend more than half an hour on retelling you all the rules something is wrong.

    Character Information

    Name: Jercio Kalun

    Age: 24

Race or Nationality (Javil, Horium, Ragnau or Khazi-Un): Ragnau

Class: archer (specs in hunter and Galt Ranger [a technique of rapid fire and yet precision])

Physical description: Most are quick to judge the young man. His thin body and his lanky height make him appear as a twig does in a wind storm. In truth his lean form is deceptively muscular, and he commands his movements with much dexterity. He’s adapted to a life unlike those of his ancestry. It has changed him in all ways.

He does not keep a beard, a trait once common to his sort, instead being clean-shaven, and only has minimal stubble now and then. The scars on his hands and the wind scorn nature of his face show the ware and tare he’s endured in the wastes. It is probably his only connection to his people. Survival. Jercio’s body reflects his predatory nature and its costs. Traits of a man a decade his elder appear on Jercio’s face in the form of wrinkles at the edge of his amber eyes, upon his brow, and at the back of his jaw.

He wears ragged clothes that carry as many scars as his skin. The tunic is a faded brown that has begun to turn gray. His pants are a slightly too long pair of heavy cloth trousers meant to keep the snow off, but they have served to keep the snakes and rats from biting at Jercio’s feet. The most expensive possession he has is a baldrick that never is taken off his body. The bronze buckle is engraved with the mark of a traitor. He wears it with honor. You can see it in his eyes. Your opinion matter not, but it will be met with apathy before rage.

    Screen capture of your skin:

Biography (Minimum 400 words. Cannot include loved ones being killed, kidnapped, tortured, or the like, unless you can do it in a non-cliche manner.): Kalun was a house of great men. They provided a backbone to the Ragnau military in the form of a long line of fearless warriors. Until Jercio. Son of a harlot he knew not until of age to become a warrior. He was unlike the rest of his family. Still then his father demanded he learn the way of the ax. Jercio saw this as a crude and ineffective method. He took to the bow instead, a perfect combination of efficiency and finesse. This wouldn’t do for a Kalun though. Jercio’s father attempted to prove to him the power of the ax by forcing him to duel of the area’s highest ranking commanders. It didn’t last long. Jercio dispatched his foe with a quick shot to the neck. This was not his intent though. He only planned to disable the man with shots to the arms and legs. It was a misfire caused by Jercio’s father tampering with the arrow’s feltching.

The blame was placed upon the entire family. Jercio accepted that quickly, but denounced his father. Exiling himself Jercio left his family behind to die off and end their legacy. His own father had risked him in a duel, caused him to kill another man, and all in the pursuit of a pathetic tradition.

The apocalypse was anti-climactic to Jercio. His world had already fallen, and the one he possessed was nothing more than a nomadic life of scavenging what he could. It felt maddening for a while going along only to find town razed and destroyed. It isolated him even more. Soon he accepted it and it turned him cold. He was like the icy north he left behind. Inhospitable and constantly fighting.

He long had refused to head to a rumored remaining point of civilization. It seemed a pointless quest to travel there. Why re-integrate? What could be gained? Jercio decided with how little food and supplies he could find the chances for a meal would at least be one improvement. With any luck this city would be mostly empty. Instead Jercio had to accept what he came upon. Though at first it made little sense to him, especially with how much he pondered life in his exile, he adapted as he always has. Here the Kalun name would become something new. Something with real honor behind it. Exile was now to become the home of the Kaluns.

What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation): His motivation was the most primal. He cared to survive. Upon rethinking it. Though he despised what his name meant in the homeland he could give it new meaning. After all its translation was originally ‘Shift’ or 'challenge the way'.

Strengths (Both physical and personality): Jercio’s dedication to the bow and the Galt style is impressive. He’s taken great care to apply his training to everyday life by incorporating it both ways. Training into daily tasks and daily tasks into training. With his dexterity Jercio is easily able to use knives and other weapons in close combat. His survival skills are top notch letting him adapt quick and react quicker.

Personality wise the exile gave Jercio time to think. He has very good control of his emotions, but he can come across as apathetic. His morals are also based on a natural law rather then a political one, so his moral compass points mostly true.

Weaknesses (Both physical and personality): As much as he wishes to ignore it the reason for his life still angers Jercio. He attempts to mask it, but it is one of three things that will set him off. Another is the way his father was. He betrayed Jercio. There was nothing more to it. The final is when others think his ways of doing what is natural right is because he wants to be a positive force. He only does it cause it’s what is decent. He won’t risk his neck for something stupid, but if needed he is a force to be reckoned with.

As with most of those who take up the bow his melee strength is minimal and his constitution is as well. Galt style also restricts him as it is mostly effective against one target. In a brawl its nearly useless. The requirement for a long time spent aiming before unleashing long volleys disrupts easily.

Will your character likely join an existing faction? If so, which? If not, why not?: Jercio has been alone a long time rushing into a group may not be the best idea for him. The idea of a certain group has caught his eye, but he does not intend to pledge allegiance to anyone. For now at most he’d assist the Vespero Scath indirectly.

Does your character have any connections to currently-existing characters or characters yet to be accepted? If so, which? (See “Character Linking Aid”. Please post a link to the topic.): no…

In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation.Your ICRs will be used to see how well you can RP. Please post them as if in IC chat. An example can be found after this form.)

Do you have any questions about the server or our lore?: how do you intend to put in other races cause I kept who Jercio’s mother is open so I can possibly get him to be a half-breed.

Other notes: I’m game for helping with Lore. I spend most of my time writing, as I’m attempting to get a book written and published. If you’d like so proof of that skill I’m happy to send some examples of my work.

opinion question here. I tend to put together my own little mod collections. not mod packs, just a selection of mods to use in my minecraft to get a certain theme. I'm working on putting together one that'd be a medieval themed one and well I'm thinking battle gear, but I also want to do balkons. The duel wielding is cool, but balkons is 1.3.2. The shields are good, but I tend to do more archer style gameplay. Battlegear has a more simplistic yet complete and much more medieval feeling to me, while balkons is just sort of every weapon before the modern day.

basically I'm just curious what you'd suggest as a better long term one?

Along with that what is your opinion on how ranged weaponry is in minecraft?

All hail the nerd boy! For once a modder instead of letting people just be idiots is doing something. I mean its taken bloody long enough for a modder to stand up and actually put his foot down. These people have lives of their own ya know!? they don't do this for us they do it because they enjoy it. If the community isn't going to respect them then ya know what its not fun anymore.

I'll admit I'll miss battlegear greatly I had all sorts of plans to use it on my first big lets play and tons more. If you guys won't respect him why should he bother to do anything for you. I'll miss Nerd-Boy's work greatly, but I'd rather know he made this choice to stop giving all these hours of his life away to you people just so you can throw them away and spit in his face.

I can't remember if I ever posted here before, which if I did it was probably something about me making a set of weapons for this, but I'm gonna say I'm sorry if I was one of those people. For everyone else I say,

I hope you realize that being the maker of anything be it in minecraft or anything. To put hours into your work is feet few can do, but to do this much work for so long and put up with people who don't bother to understand thats what it means to be an artist. Nerd boy was the modding equivilant of an author, but those of you who have wronged him simply ignored his foreword and skipped to the middle of the book, but once there you didn't understand and instead of reading the rest of the story fromt he start you complained. You wanna know why i used that metaphor? because I have put years of my life into writing books, and I know how it feels to have people not bother with the entirity of them. Don't forgive Nerd-Boy, ask for forgiveness.

theres a reason villagers do nothing really. its to keep the player playing. villagers can only help you if you work to help them. if jeb made villages helpful there would be no point. he'd be making the game lose all its point. The player building and being creative. specifcally in survival its to work hard and create an epic way to survive.

you've missed the entire point. Only steve can be Steve. let everything else be its own as well.

    Quote from ChadGarion25

Well, in the latest snapshot, that was fixed. You don't have to make a dirt ceiling to place upside down slabs anymore. It would be logical to assume that placing these blocks were cumbersome, Mojang realized this, and made a change. I wouldn't worry about it effecting logs.

thats why I said "HAD" I used past tense. I know they fixed slabs, but those are half blocks. the log is an entire block. still we all know Mojang can sometimes take its time to fix things. ex. ghost entities, enchanting, etc.

so if I have this right, when you place a log above or below you its vertical? when placed next to you it's horizontal?

sounds legit, but could end up one of those little pet peevs. like top slabs had to be place under something first. Say I'm trying to build a column, but I'm doing it from the side so they keep showing up sideways. I'd have to either put a block above to build from or jump place them. which if I was high up could be dangerous. just saying need a bit more control.

Role-Play Exp.: I’ve been in two big MC RP servers, Aeonis and RetroFuture. I moderated a small RP server, and built an entire city myself for one of its factions. I have around six years of Forum RP exp, and even more time has been spent writing stories.

Why Us: Well I’ve done my fair share of Rping and MC, but I’ve found I like MC better with mods, and Rping better with bigger servers. Seeing as yours fits both rather nicely I thought I’d see if it matched my expectations.

Time You Can Dedicate: I hope to dedicate at least an hour everyday, but over the period of a week I hope to get around eighteen hours. I’ll be honest without actually being on the server I have to just go off of what I get from the post, so my dedication is based on how much I enjoy the server.

Have you played Assassin's Creed? I’ll be honest no. I’ve watched tons of game play, but I sadly never could play it.

    Name: Jason Tyr Wolf

    Gender: male

    Age: 17

Fears: claustrophobia and he fears the destruction of his home, since it was passed down through his family.

Personality: Jason is a bit cocky for who he is. Being only an average blacksmiths apprentice Jason comes off as overly confident and self center at least when you first meet him because he doesn‘t accept anything less then perfection. He really just wants to prove he actually is worth more then his class. Once you really get to meet him, Jason is a very dedicated person and he’s got some solid values.

Skills: Smithing, innovative thinking, and weapon proficiency.

    Nickname (Optional): none

RP Example (Add Dialogue): (since you didn’t specify I’ll assume in-game/MC style.)
Jason: *pokes coals with tongs, and lets out a heavy sigh. Heads to bellows and pumps air into furnace.*
Master Smith Radin: Jason you got that new sword finished?
Jason: Yes sir. I was just checking the furnace. Anyway sir are you sure you want me to handle the store alone til you return?
Radin: yes of course. I’ve taught you well, and it’s only a month or so.
Jason: yeah a MONTH! I’m really not too sure.
Radin: well I am, so best make sure you’re ready.
Jason: alright *sigh* I guess I best get the orders organized.

    Backstory (1-2 LONG paragraphs):
Jason Wolf was the common son of a common man. He was sent off to apprentice under the Smith Master Radin at a young age. He’s spent more of his life as an apprentice then with his father. Jason is very happy as a smith he finds his skill suited for the work.
Besides his mundane work as a smith’s apprentice. Jason stays very interested in their customers. Often they supply some very strange people with some very strange weapons. Master Radin mostly handles those orders though. Jason really wants to know who these strangers are. He’s become fascinated with the weapons, and desires to see what kind of man uses them.
Jason has been very distant from his real family for the majority of his life. He hasn’t even spoken to his father in three years. He basically sees Radin as his father these days. Its nothing against his father its just that with his apprenticeship Jason isn’t spending time with his family, and Jason knows that his apprenticship is his start to his future.

Roleplay: A method of storytelling in which individual characters are controlled by one person. these people work together to thell the different stories of their own characters within a fictional world with it's own cannon. As I said before its like a book with multiple authors. We all have a character with all of their own special traits and skills. we all bring something new to the world.

Meta: To missuse/abuse information your character couldn't know. its taking advantage of the things you could never know as a character. Its very similair to power gaming in that it gives you an unfair and pointless advantage. Meta can be done through abuse of OOC chats, player name tags, and game bugs/cheats/ or other cheap tricks ex. disconnecting during a losign fight. The only other thing I can think of to describe it would be the mental equivilant of powergaming.

power: Again its still the definition of OP. the Player gives all sorts of unfair advantages to themself. The most generic would be making yourself never die or be injured. power gaming can go beyond the character to include the player refusing to let other people kill them whenever they are out of choices. The point to it is the player thinks they can never lose simply by saying they won't.

Assassin's creed: As I said before the game is about the main character desmon. he relives his ancestor's lives via the animus. He works with the brotherhood of assassins to stop the templars from controling the world using ancient artifacts. I'll be honest I don't know much more of the lore, but the game play/game concepts I do have a fair grasp of.

Epic, I'll get right on that.
