VailOfHail posted a message on [Creating Mods] ModLoader [28/1/12]
I'm having a problem with your ModLoader armor tutorials, I made armor that is stronger than diamond. When I test it in Minecraft it's as strong as leather armor.

    When I change -
    super(i, EnumArmorMaterial.CLOTH, j, k);
    to
    super(i, EnumArmorMaterial.DIAMOND, j, k);
it makes it as strong as diamond. How do I make it the material it should be? I tried changing EnumArmorMaterial to my ModEnumAmorMaterial, but that just causes an error since ItemArmor's parameter involves EnumArmorMaterial. I don't know if you still look at these comments but I would really appriciate the help, thank you!

    Quote from BioRules

I'm thinking they need to upgrade how they change colors of similar items anyway, as right now it leaves things very limited. Half slabs for example, are all the same item with a different damage value for the texture, meaning that a stone slab and a wood slab are totally identical except for one digit. Because of this functionality any item they make with multiple textures is limited to using 16 textures. Wool is an example of this, as of right now we cannot have any other colors of wool, since we are already up to 16 colors. Now with slabs (for example), we already have stone, sandstone, wood, brick, cobble, and stone brick. That's 6 textures on 1 block already. If we were to add in the other 3 colors of wood, that would make it 9 textures. Say we also want glass slabs, nether brick slabs, and wool slabs (I think these are the most common requested). That puts us to 12. That means there is only room for 4 more types of half slabs, and if more types of building materials are added (marble? onyx? gemstones? who knows) then the remaining values will get used up real fast. So I think before they go about making all the colors and such available, they need to update how those colors are handled.

Why on earth would you need more than 16 variations on a single item? o_O

    Quote from voidzm

    This.

How it should be handled is that each unique "texture" type has its own ID (i.e. all four woods, nether brick, stone brick, etc.) and then the different shapes are the data values.

So instead of Shape:Material we would have Material:Shape.

I would rather have 4096 different materials and 16 different shapes than 16 different materials and 4096 different shapes.

Brilliant plan! Since it is SO easy, why don't you go make a mod that does that? Sounds like it shouldn't take more than an hour or so for someone as experienced in game design as you are!

Easier solution: Add more metadata to blocks. Easily done. Has been done before for specific items.

I have used this pack since the 1.7.3 version and have enjoyed it alot. Nice to see harvestcraft get added, Thanks Matrexsvigil :) .

This modpack gets better almost every minecraft update. I look forward to when the 4096 block fix is official so we can see what Arrrg is capable of fitting together. Thanks also to all the mod makers that allow Arrrg to add there mods to the pack!

If you think that would be cool, imagine what he'll do when the mod api comes out!

Arrrg's Minecraft Overhaul! 2000 mods working together!
    With added smp compatibility!

Hey man, this is the best modpack I (personally) have ever seen. I like it WAY more than the Technic pack.
Why oh Why is this not more popular? I'm gonna add someting in my sig about it... its not much, but its something!
    Can't wait for 1.2.3!
    anyways, great modpack, thanks!

Edit: Wow, i keep editing this, keep forgetting things. LOL.
anyways, the "ruins" mod spawn rate seems to be a bit high. it was easy enough to trim myself, but you know, just giving feedback. it doesn't really hurt the modpack IMO though.

Would Logistic Pipes or teleport pipes work with this modpack?
Maybe, but we are about out of item/block ID codes. You would have to disable other mods to free up codes to use.
    Quote from NanoMaxCraft
arrrg can you add this mods to your modpack that would be awesome if they will be in your modpack <LIST Mods - O>Hope They Will Fit There ^_^ PowerCraft

    BuildCraft 3 Complete
    BuildCraft Logistic Pipes
    BuildCraft Teleport Pipes
    BuildCraft Additional Pipes
    BuildCraft Additional Objects
'Minefactory Advanced' by TehKrush is included in 1.1.0.
I'll also be looking at BuildCraft extensions for 1.2.3 (as long as there are enough ID codes to support them).
Forestry Not explored last time becasue of ID code limitations, and similarity to Xie's mods.
ComputerCraft Some people want it some don't. Will review again (ID codes providing).
RailCraft Similar to TehKrush's stuff, so not added. TehKrush may not update, so will look into this.
    Hangable Maps Investigating.
PowerCraft Also seems similar to TehKrush's stuff. Will check it out.
Matmos Have contacted the author a few times for permission. No reply.
Zeppelin Mod Already included in 1.1.0 and will also be in 1.2.3.
Wireless RedStone 'Toggle Blocks' by TheApathetic is way better, but it hasn't been updated since 1.0, so maybe.
Smart Moving Game balance. Besides, there are several items already in AMCO that give similar effects.
Explosions + Features are already in AMCO. Just build some explosives from IC2, or 'Equivalent Exchange'
Turret Mod 'Portal Gun' by iChun has turrents, you can get gaurds from 'Invasion', or even hire 'Millenare' villagers.
Laser Mod Sorta violates ACMO's Steam Punkish themes, but I'll give it a look.
Balkons Weapon Mod Uses tons of item ID codes with no new functions. I'd rather have 'Portal Gun' or 'Creeps and Wierdos'
SDK Guns Similar to Laser Mod, and author is reluctant to grant permission.
MineColony Historically buggy. 'Millenare' is way better, and already included.
Elemental Arrows Frequently in AMCO, but removed in 1.1.0 because of GUI Conflicts with other mods.
Better Than Wolves Author does not grant permission.
Clay Soldier Original author did not grant permission. New owner was contacted. No reply, but is compatable.
    Death Chest Already included.
Single Player Commands Breaks game balance, but then so does 'Not Enough Items' which is included...
    Invasion Mod Already included.
Dynamic Lights Does not work on some machienes. Install 'Optifine' instead.
Aether Authors do not grant permission, and adds too many new blocks/items to make compatable. Maybe in 1.2.3...
TerraCraft Looked at it a few months ago but was not super impressed. Will check again.
Elemental Creepers Buildings get destroyed too often for most people's tastes.
Veniches Mod Author does not grant permission.
GLSL Shader Mod Does not work on some machienes. Install 'Optifine' instead.
Xies Mod I love Xie's work, have a long-standing good relationship, and even my own custom textures ready to go, as soon as I can get more item/block ID's for it to work.
SMP I've been keeping SMP versions of the mods separate for a SMP build of AMCO. However, the outlook is not good. Lots of great 'Core' mods just don't support it.

Hi I know it may be a lot of hard work but if you could, could you add the computer craft mod and maybe if possible the pokemobs mod if not that's ok but it would be nice thx
I'll have a look at 'Computer Craft'. 'PokeMobs' isn't really my style but should be drop-in compatable.

Great modpack! Any chance of adding Trains and Zeppelin mod when its updated :)
Author does not grant permission. Besides, you can make very similar stuff with 'Zeppelin' which is included.

I just downgraded back to 1.1 to play this. Totally worth it by the way. I love mod packs like this its like an overload of things you can do i just love it. :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: for you!!! Really taxing on pc though think twice before playing if playing on an old computer.
Thaks a lot. A few kind words go a long ways. 'Optifine' helps a ton with slow computers, and people can disable mods to increace preformance on slow PCs.

I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but I get a Minecraft crash every time I try to open it. Here's the error log ... Generated 3/11/12 10:32 AM Minecraft: Minecraft 1.1 OS: Mac OS X (i386) version 10.7.2 Java: 1.6.0_29, Apple Inc. VM: Java HotSpot™ Client VM (mixed mode), Apple Inc. My bad.
Difficult because you seem to be on a MAC, which I don't own.
However, the report complains about 'ThaumCraft', so you might try disabeling that in modloader.cfg.
    Good luck

I don't think that I got more creeps and and weirdos. Is anyone else having this problem?
'Creeps and Weirdos' uses a ton of item/block ID's, so it is disabled in AMCO's default theme. You should try the "Strange" theme. Replace the contents of your modloader.cfg file with the contents of modloader - strange.cfg.

How have I never heard of this modpack?!?! Awesome awesome pack man :D I would recommend Logistic Pipes (Buildcraft add-on) and Iron Chests mod for the next version :)
    Thanks for the positive feedback.
Not sure why AMCO isn't more popular, maybe because I have little time to advertise.
So, thanks for spreadding the word everyone.
I'll check those mods out, right after getting the remainder of the mods from 1.1.0 updated. I'm also investigating and/or making AMCO compatable with:
Better Nether Nether have to go home again
    More Pistons Longer and stronger
Animal Bikes Ride anything, even a dragon.
    Better Enchanting Pick your enchantments
Super Creator Artistic mud, stone, and sand bricks.
    Craftable Dimensions More crafting recipies.
    PanoramaKit Great for screen shots.
Twilight Forest An awesome new dimension.
    Optifine Boosts game speed.
TMI Cheat. Any item or block for free.
Battle Towers Fight monsters by the floor.
Minecraft Minions Mobs that do your bidding.

    Wish me luck.
