Today, I was on a server, afk, and while I was afk (I was standing next to the computer, but not on the computer) I thought I heard birds and the sound seemed to be coming from minecraft. I didn't have any other applications open, and I'm sure my TV didn't make the sound. For whatever reason, the sound went away when I got back on minecraft and moved my character. I haven't really tried to reproduce the event, but I will soon. My minecraft client is unmodded, and the server didn't have any plugins that made such sounds. Anybody else hear birds in minecraft?

I kinda wanna make my minecraft server more public, but Im not too sure that its safe. Is there any danger in giving people your static (public) IP address?
Dude, no. They're great as they are, and they don't need changing. Besides, Mojang (or Microsoft, whatever) has better things to do with Minecraft besides nerfing things that don't need nerfs.
I have wanted to create a minecraft server for a while, but I just can't figure out how. Im looking for a free, safe way to set up a Minecraft server. I use a Mac OS X, but the tutorial on the minecraft wiki just dosen't seem to work out that well. Can someone send me some videos on how to safely set up a server, or maybe a step-by-step sorta thing? I speak for all the people who want to make servers, the people who feel my pain.
Yeah... thats the new ocean temple. And yes, the fish are very hostile. You should go explore it when you're ready, but bring potions and armor. If you're lucky, you will find some pretty nice treasure. Beware of the big beige fish that you'll see in the center of the temple.
What is the seed?
For some reason, every time I try to join any server, minecraft doesn't let me and tells me this: "Failed to login: The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request". I've tried restarting the game. What should I do? Is this a 1.8.1 problem?
There are some items in Minecraft that have no good reason to exist. For example: the poisoned potato. This item's only purpose is to poison yourself, basically. This and rotten flesh are crappy emergency foods, and therefore they need a better use. Near-pointless items, textures, mobs, particles, and sounds need uses! Any suggestions for these items? (besides what I have)

Rubies (unimplemented item): Material for armor, tools, and a sword, or maybe trade them with villagers
They are named the same, they're the same type of file, and my resource pack is on, but im not sure if the songs are properly inserted. Where should the music file be located for them to take effect?
