posted a message on Render 360: Unlimited* FOV

See the world in glorious 360 degrees (or 2pi radians for mathematians).

This mod renders the world 6 times, then collates it to show the full 360 degrees.

You can use iChun's Picture in Picture mod to see behind yourself. Just add yourself, and view from the front. I have not tested this with render360.

I have used render360 for quite a while, and I can promise you the headaches do go away. Just don't use the mod for extended periods of time until you're accustom to it, otherwise headaches can occur when leaving the computer. My recommendation (that I didn't follow) is to start at about 180 degrees (whatever's comfortable), and increase it gradually over several days/weeks.

posted a message on Ray Tracer

This mod (when finished) will replace Minecraft's rendering engine with a ray tracer. Source code on Github

The advantages of this mod are:

Support for realtime stereoscopic 3D 360 degree video
Increasing the render distance effects the framerate less

    The disadvatages are:

    Requires a good computer
Increasing the resolution effects the framerate more

    Currently, the mod can:

Render most solid blocks (not stairs or tall grass)
Render in 360 (no option yet - you have to uncomment one line in the source code)

    Currently the mod does not:

    Render partial blocks (slabs, ladders)
    Render mobs
    Disable the default renderer (rasterisation)
    Attempt depth testing

I am still looking for a good name for this mod. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

posted a message on Sound Physics (realistic sound reverberation, occlusion, and attenuation)
    Quote from Theawesomehwyh»

That only works with oculus rift.

It works with all headphones (that have 2 working speakers). I have been using this for a while (without a vr headset), and it really does improve the sound. You may have some issues with realtek (default 48000Hz instead of 44100Hz) but everything else just works.

posted a message on [Simple but hard] Total Vision 360º mod: 60º to 360º FoV

I have been working on this for a while. I have successfully (depending on your definition of success) created a forge coremod that renders 6 views around the player. This has the effect of granting 360 degree vision. The major issues are that I have only made it for cubic projection, anything else is much more difficult, and it lags the game in minecraft 1.8, 1.8.9 seems to work though. There are many other minor bugs.

IMPORTANT: The mod is controlled by the FOV slider. Put it to 120 (Quake Pro) to activate the mod when installed.

I may or may not be able to work on this in the future so I am uploading the source for anyone to freely use/modify/redistribute.
