I have been traveling for 10 days, without acessing the internet, so i just wanted to know if notch made any important updates, bugfixes or anything like that.
I have to say, after reading this guys rant, I have to agree: what have we paid for? The latest login issues are unacceptable, yet there is no one to hold accountable. We've all paid for a product that doesn't exist yet, its a little ridiculous when you think about it.
They way I see it, you just gave some random guy money over the internet. If it makes you feel better, think of it as an online scam, but you actually get a product of some sort! Fascinating! Is it not?
I know the basics of coding and can actually code something really well, such as a 1500 line script I wrote for the now popular building game "Roblox" once.
I just need to know where to start programming, and expanding my horizons. I have a 4.0 GPA in school, and have worked with computers since I was a young lad.
Anybody have suggestions on how or where to sort of "start me off?" I just need to really get a pushing start, like a propeller plane. This is the one factor that has limited me from starting coding seriously.

I was being factitious about the Python bit, but still some very interesting reading going on here. There is definitely a lot of disagreement and large claims, but I find it all amusing at the very least. Although I know very little about programming, in the little programming I've done I've found ways to "optimize" my crappy game/programs to do the same thing with more efficient use of code. Because I don't write heavyish type programs I wouldn't know the difference in speed, but in something like MC, optimization, not a different language, would be the way to go (I think this is further supported by the mods done by Scaevolus).
How about Python! (I like python because of the pretty colors of the commands, I mean 'print' is purple, that goes nice because you got the 'p' color/action thing going on there!)
Of course System Restore didn't recover personal files, it only deals with files relating to the OS operation. Also, it may not be too late to use Recuva to get your files back.
Regardless, I paid what? $12, no, I'm sorry $13. I've already had my moneys worth, when compared to other games that I've paid 5x more for, and probably logged at least 5x less time in. Although these whining threads are ever so slightly entertaining, they are losing their charm, la sigh...People take this video game a little too seriously. If I spend too long in the Nether, Minecraft WILL freeze. Every time. Sometimes it saves before it closes, and one time it remembered my inventory but not the changes to the scenery or my position at the time. Another time I think it had me a block off, dropping me into the lake. It usually takes about ten or twenty minutes. There are no warning signs. This is really annoying, since I'm trying to build a sky bridge, because I have a portal destination in mind that happens to be over a giant lake of lava, and the ghasts make that tedious.
My best guess is that it has something to do with loads of mobs and projectiles in the area, because as far as I can tell, ghasts never stop spawning no matter how many there are. Anyone else get something like this?
Actually yes, exactly the same issue. I think it had to deal with all of the Ghasts because I switched over to peaceful as a test and tada no more crashing every 15 seconds. Kind of a bummer though because I lost quite a bit of cobblestone the first time it locked up and I would like ghasts for an increased challenge. But ya, switch over to peaceful to fix it.

Oil for lanterns! Is whale meat any good? Anyways, Moby **** epic adventures at sea in a Minecraft boat would be awesome! Throw in some hammerheads, a harpoon, and a boat big enough to fit four and we're good to go!
Although it wouldn't fit in, probably be useless without other modifications, this thread gave me an idea of possibly crafting a campfire. Craft the campfire be alternating wooden planks and cobblestone around the 3x3 craft area. Place that on the ground and right click it like a furnace and add wooden planks to keep the fire going. To start the fire use some flint. Perhaps it could have a "protection" radius that keeps mobs 20 squares away all around the fire.
This forum is impressive, what with all the people who can't actually read. He's 15, no credit card, no checking account, no paypal...get it? I'm fairly certain he would be unable to purchase a "gift" debit/credit card (18 years old required here, for freaks sake this kid isn't even old enough to buy AIR IN A CAN). He's basically SOL and it's only a semi-beg thread. Though I may buy it for him, if it does something neat like make a decent drawing, or write a short story.

Or, you could do what I did when I was 15, get a job, buy car, build computer. And really, this isn't one of those easier said than done moments.
