I've never tried using a snapshot before and I've stayed on 1.2.5 after hearing of all the problems with 1.3.x
Is it really just as simple as swapping out the .jar files? If this snapshot has problems do I just replace it with my old (stable) 1.2.5 jar and everything will be back to normal?

I havnt got any crashes since 1.2 was released(not even in 1.3.1/1.3.2). 1.1 was my crash season.
But yes, I think 1.3.2 is stable.
Good to hear but I've realised it's still not a good idea for me to updatre from 1.2.5 as all my mods and tools are on different version numbers:
MCEdit and WorldEdit are still on 1.2.5
Bukkit is on 1.3.1
Modloader, Zombe's, TMI and Optifine I think are also on 1.3.1 but I can't be sure.
I think I'll wait until everyone's on the same MC version number. -

I know there's a mods folder but 90% of all mods require you to open the jar file and hardwire in .class files. It would be much better and simpler to just pop a file into a plugins folder and then delete it when you want to remove it. -

Hello!
I prepared a quick video for the 1.3.2 update just explaining some of the bugs that we're fixed .
Talks a lot. Says nothing. Totally pointless video. -

The "You've come a long way, Minecraft" video is amazing! Reminds me of the old days... Minecraft is growing insanely fast... wonder how it will look like in 3 years.
In 3 years time? "Remember Minecraft?" "No."
We'll have all moved on to something else by then. 3 years is a loooong time in gaming. - To post a comment, please login.

He's already failed the trial of common sense - not updating MC until any mods he has have been updated.

It's now finally finsihed and after running it through mcmapDZ (which took 2.5 hours) I have a HUGE map! The only trouble is I can't view it all at once like I normally can with a map. McmapDZ will only let me see any of it if I zoom in otherwise I get just a black screen. Any ideas?

If the Far Lands are 30 million blocks / metres away from the centre of the map (0,0,) making MC worlds 60 million blocks accross then:
What parameters would you have to set MLG to to map everything and
How long do you think that would take MLG to process? Months? Years?
Then how long would mcmap take to render a map? Weeks?

I'm currently running MLG on a spare PC to generate a 10,000 x 10,000 map of my current world and it's been running non-stop since yesterday. It's still got a day to run and it'll be interesting to see what it produces...

That worked fine. I've eventually got the damn thing to work but it could be a LOT more user friendly.

The map that I ran MLG on was a copy of a world in my Saves folder so the original was untouched by MLG. When I explored the original world the straight lines and cut-in-half mountain were there too, so MLG was not to blame for that. I've just created a test world, copied its folder to MLG and am running MLG on it now to see what happens.

Now that I have seen a completed map there are some suspiciously straight lines betwen some of the terrain types including a mountain that looks cut clean in half.

"Done! For Help type Help or ?"
"Forcing Save..."
then starting over again. How will I know when it's really finished?
ETA: Never mind, I ran it on a smaller map and the two boxes close themselves.
Why does it have to be so complicated? Why can't it just be a simple Windows program that just WORKS?

It's late here (UK) so I'll try that printspawn command tomorrow but for now my seed is 1477151563963885241

Thanks for your help, Morlok! :-)

I've made the edits you suggested and it seems to be doing something now...
Mineraft Server seems to be running, closing, running, closing....

Updating to Java 7 didn't help. The command line box flashed up for a split second then off again with nothing in it.
What file do I edit to put that nogui and headless stuff in? I know nothing about java and coding etc.
