not to say what the OP is going through is false, but to give my own (longer) experience...

i have been with MPUK for 4 months or so. ZERO complaints.

no downtime. no crashes. essentially none of the issues of the OP.

support staff is great. the proprietary web interface they have is leagues beyond anything else i have seen. they are also very active in the community.

something like 230+ mods available for instant activation/use.

no - i dont work for them. no - im not saying the OP is lieing. just wanted to give my opinion, as ive given it many times on these forums.

i read on the wiki grass only starts next to other grass also, but...

way down in a cave i put some dirt down next to a pig spawner i found in SMP, put water around the dirt, and got grass.

not sure if it was the water, the pig spawner, or both - but there was no grass around for a loooooooooong way when i got mine.

so i went in and deleted all of the explored, but not built-in chunks on my server map & re-uploaded the new map.

this should allow the new blue block to "spawn" in the new chunks my server creates as people explore outside the smaller built-in area i left when pruning, right?

absolutely. it would organize news in a nice place, and have an optional place to discuss it. i dont consider that "mixing it up" at all.

gets my vote.

if i've read correctly, the new block added in beta (with blue dye in it) is acting like biomes did when they were patched in - that is, they will only "spawn" in NEW areas/chunks that are generated AFTER beta was applied.

my question is, are there simple intructions / or a script / etc... that i could run on our map with MCEdit ONLY to properly/randomly/in the right areas/concentrations distribute some Lapis Lazuli in our ground?

thanks :smile.gif:
anyone?

another option i thought of...

how well would it work to cut the general area that was built on, and paste it into a new map? would this go ok? or - should i generate a new map on my server, open THAT in MCEdit, then paste my old "section" right over top of it?

After thoroughly looking through each of the following sites for about an hour, I've come to the conclusion that XenonServers provides the best service for the lowest price.. Any objections before I make my purchase? (And thank you for making this list, it made life a lot easier for me)

unfortunately, i dont have any experience with Xenon. let us know how it is if you go with them!

:SSSS: Dont go with multiplay game servers, There servers are low quality, Trust me i demanded a refund from a server i bought them due to the lagg :SSSS:

sorry to hear it. definitely value another opinion, but ive gone thru multiplay for about 3-4 months now and have nothing but great things to say.

:SSSS: Heya, I had a really bad experience with Worthy-Host.com
I had a server going for a week, when it started lagging, rapidly crashing and I couldn't add any plugins, I tried a courple of times before this to contact a manager, took a day or two before they responded, they just told me to remove my plugins etc. though I had no plugins.
One day later when I got home from work the server was down, I went to the controll panel, but I coudln't acces it, then I wrote a ticket, but appearently their support site was also down.
I paid £37 for one month of this server, and only got to spend one week of it.
Appearently they will not give me any refund, they dont even respond back to me.
Horrible, horrible site.
:SSSS:
sorry to hear this also. bad products are one thing, bad customer service makes it irrecoverable.

thanks to both for letting the community know.

I'm not so sure about ArtofWarCentral. They seem legit enough, though.

Their Live Chat errors out, much to my demise. So no live support, which is a BIG downside because I know how long it takes for tickets to get replied to (please don't ******** me, it's the same everywhere).

This looks like the ideal choice. They're the cheapest (I browsed the other sites, they're either not working, shutdown, too expensive, or totally fake looking), so I'm highly interested by default because of this. However, I need more information!

Not enough is posted. For instance, I saw that I was charged extra for backing the server up. So what you're saying is if I don't choose to get that, my world will NEVER be backed up? That seems very ridiculous!

To run a server without ever backing up is just waiting for a bomb. To charge extra for what's quite seriously a necessary feature seems kind of cheap of them. Yeah, the gameservers themselves are cheap, but it's extra $$$ just to be able to back-up. Surely I'm mistaken?

This is the biggest drawback I'm having at the minute. I'm interested in purchasing a server with them but not if that's how things are going to be ran. If they're doing that for backups, it's hard to say what else they're hiding in the background that you need to have but will cost you extra cash.

No way of immediate contact with support is also very very problematic. What if I need help with a mod, or my server crashed, or something happened on your end? What if I just have a general question? Asking via ticket takes too long when with every day that passes that's 1 day out of my month that I paid for that I won't get to have for my server.

Much more information needs to be provided. How easy is it to install mods, for instance?

i dont have any info about artofwar specifically, but i agree with a lot of what you said.

a lot of the companies have "fake" looking websites. minecraft just got real big real quick. and a lot of the community took it upon themselves to start the "hosting business" (which is good). so - its easy to make a cheap website, and thats what a lot of them have done.

support "tickets" do seem to be a universal drag in terms of turn around times. but like i said, no clue about artofwar specifically.

as far as the backup - i feel the exact same way. for whatever reason though, multiple companies seem to have the same business model of charging for them. not sure why. i agree that this seems like something that should be "included".
