Everyone should make sure they can log in to Minecraft.net before they try logging into Minecraft. The problem might be related to your account and not the game.
I had this problem, so I tried deleting my bin folder. But then I started Minecraft and it wouldn't let me play offline at all, saying I have to play online once before I could play again! Yikes! But I solved this by re-downloading Minecraft. Now I can play online just fine.
So if anyone is still having troubles, I suggest doing exactly what I did:
Delete your bin folder. (Not sure where it is on a PC, but on a Mac it's User>Library>Application Support>minecraft)
Delete your Minecraft.exe or Minecraft.zip.
Download a new one.
Let it install all that good stuff.
I'm still having trouble uploading a new skin to my profile on minecraft.net too. Not sure if this problem is related.
could someone please put these instructions for someone on a Mac, like me, thanks
On a mac, the Minecraft bin folder is located at User>Library>Application Support>minecraft
This is the same place as the texture pack and saves folders.
Delete Bin and run Minecraft to download a new bin folder.
But I don't think this will solve the problem. I think it's related to the new changes to Minecraft.net. If so, we'll just have to wait until they get sorted out.
Thanks! I thought it was some kind of joke, since the image was called "nube wallpaper" Lol
Now the download works fine. But I might have found a bug in your texture pack: I think there's something wrong with chests. Where the lid meets the chest, there's some graphics overlapping. Here's a pic
It might be the game though, not your texture pack.

And instead of going back and forth between buildings, just screenshot them and reference that.

And yeah, clouds are higher up now. Which is better. It was weird to go above clouds while it was raining...

You don't have to log in to download a new bin folder.
