posted a message on WATER CASTING - a fun new way to build big in Minecraft! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AlrQ7Nma3Y

    Hey, Y'all

I think I discovered something. If I'm wrong, forgive me. I've linked a video that I made that's a proof of concept.

    I call it "Water Casting."

If lava casting is pouring water over lava then water casting is the opposite, poring lava over water.

The trick is to use water vegetation to prevent lava from destroying the water sources. Lava will slowly work its way down flowing water, converting the flowing water blocks into cobblestone and stone blocks.

It's very satisfying to perform. It's easy to do and can be done in survival almost right away. You just need buckets, lava, water, and some sea veggies.

Water casting has some advantages. It's faster, It results in less lag, and you can build into right angles. Water casting gives you a far more predictable, reliable cast. Anyone who has tried to make a big pyramid with lava casting knows that you will get little imperfections due to how lava updates. You can use this process to water cast a pyramid that looks like the square pyramids found at desert temples or that you make for beacons.

I have dozens of more screenshots I'd like to share, and I am happy to answer any questions. Please look at the video I've linked. It's not great but it will give you an idea faster than I type.

    Thank you for your reply,

This information is helpful. I wouldn't bother with doing anything to get the law involved. I just haven't a clue about how any of this works.

It's seems people get their names dropped in videos for their discoveries or ideas and I wanted to know if there was a mechanism for that. Like, if people prefer to use YouTube, or this site, or reddit, or some other platform that I may not have heard of.

It just seems to be the "Honor System" among players.

Am I correct in this line of thinking?

    Thanks

I care about credit. I'm not trying to monetize it. This is new. I've scoured al the forums and youtube for this. As far as I know, this is new. It's nothing game-breaking, just kind of novel. I want credit where credit's due.

I see youtube videos with, "This thing discovered by this player."

I don't know anything about the minecraft community, so I don't know how people give credit to players for their discoveries.

Would starting a new thread here be adequate? Do i just have to make a youtube video myself, and post it places to get the word out?

These are the questions i want answers for, please. Stop trying to talk me out of it.

I'm very new to the minecraft community.

I've discovered something new about minecraft but I'm not sure how to "publish" my results.

I'm afraid I won't get credited for my discovery. I'm afraid someone else will take credit for my work.

    What can I do?

    Thanks Y'all!
