When Minecraft updates, all the mods for the old version become outdated (duh). Besides being unable to use these mods, it's incredibly hard to find mods that have updated due to all the morons spamming "uPdAtE kThXbAi." So, to make it easier on everyone, I've created a list of mods that have updated. If I missed one, or if I miss one that updates while I'm playing with the mods I've found, please post it here.
Note: I did not make any of these mods, nor am I giving direct links to downloads. I am only providing links to threads of mods that have updated to 1.3.1.

Optifine
This will replace how Minecraft renders the game, so you can actually run Minecraft on your old 2004 computer! If you don’t know what this is, and you get 100+ FPS, then just ignore it, but if you get lower than 60FPS or the game just feels like it stutters, then you should take a look! It also has support for HD textures, animated textures, better grass, and pretty much trumps using MCPatcher.
Item Related Mods
All of these have to do with items in some way or another, like adding in new recipes, changing old recipes, adding in new tools/armor, and telling you when your last pickaxe is about to break.
Damage Counter
Replaces the cryptic durability bar under tools with actual numbers showing how many uses are left in your tool. It even keeps the old color changing feature of the bars! By TLUL

What's My Light Level?
This nifty little mod can show you what your light level is, as the name says, but it can tell you that if hostile mobs can spawn, if plants can grow, and can show you your FPS, the direction you're facing (in words!), your coordinates, what biome you're in, and the world seed, all without having to hit F3! Uh.... I'm fairly certain I understood what you said. I wasn't talking about the outlines fading, I was talking about the block itself fading. is a video of what I was talking about. You should see what I mean at about 35 seconds.
Actually I ALWAYS think through it before I "force update" .minecraft... I knew if I did that today and from now on I would be updated to 1.3.1 which I do not want until more mods are compatible with it, it is for that reason that a few weeks ago I copied a fresh version of Minecraft.jar/files for 1.2.5 just in case of version updates..
So I started a fresh version of .minecraft (all fresh, but I did make a backup of my saves and other data) and I tried manual install of ModLoader and Gulliver... black screen. I also tried with your suggested Magic Launcher... a message that read "is not compatible" (or whatever it said) so nothing worked. I tried installing just LittleBlocks mod/ModLoader and it worked, then tried Gulliver... did not work. I have absolutely no idea why it is not compatible when it clearly is for version 1.2.5... :/
Ignore the incompatible message, just click OK and try to run it.
Did you ever see a video of an old version of Minecraft? The block selection had the block fade in and out. I'd like to see that if it's still possible with how Minecraft is now. Anyway, this is an awesome mod!
What if the repairing has a chance to fail, when that happens the repairing material is lost, but not the tool to be repaired. And the chance to sucess would depend on the material wich the mallet was made. :3
Or maybe it has a chance to be less effective at repairing it.
I'm a bit late in posting this, but I think that the anvil shouldn't break into iron ingots when you remove it. I mean, it's an anvil It's a solid block of metal, it's not made of Legos. Yes, it's over powered, but at least it makes sense. If I think it's cheating to bring it with me, I won't bring it. Maybe with it in your inventory the player is slowed and can only jump half a block.
Chain armour will now be repaired with chain rather than iron

Couple of bug fixes
Re-designed weapon inventory screen
Removed the cape from the knight's armour
Capes can now be crafted and put in the new cape slot (see crafting recipe below)
Re-designed Iron/Gold/Diamond shields, some now do not match the banners/armour 100%
Added a seperate spite for the shield backings with a wooden centre for the Iron/Gold/Diamond shields (and changed crafting recipies (see below)
Cape crafting
This will create a black cape, replace black wool with any colour (I havn't made them dyable yet)
The new shield recipie
The main reason for me making the requirement of wood was because it always kinda annoyed me that the shields were solid iron/gold/diamond which is unrealistic because that would be too heavy. Makes much more sense that they are based off wood with a metallic trim.
Fixed a bug that would occur if a player had a normal minecraft cape and a M&B cape
let me know how the enchanted capes go and if there are bugs/should be nerfed or buffed
beta 3
It is just a few minor bug fixes (including torch bug fix, aether compatibility & coloured enchantments compatibilities). For some reason occasionally the GUI will go semi transparent or the sky will turn brown with aether installed. No idea why and not sure if it's an issue their end. Restarting the game does fix it. I feel stupid for asking this, but where's the download for this version? I noticed about an hour or so ago that the mod update manager was saying there was an update, but hitting download did nothing as far as I could see.
Edit: Found what it downloaded; a 0 KB file called Mine & Blade with no file extension. Derp update manager

Did you try to install the Single Player Commands patch? Read through the first post and you should find it. And if that doesn't work, try to post the the log. The forums will let you post it, and to copy it, click inside the window and press Ctrl + A (Command + A on a Mac), then Ctrl + C.
i dont have forge and i dont know what optifine is but is says caused by java.land.NoSuchFieldError: blockFlammability when i test it
I've seen that before, but don't know what it is... What other mods do you have? (I'm not going to be much help myself, I didn't make the mod after all! xD)
im using magic launcher but when i put n the top list it says not compatible and then when i remove it and put it
in the bottom list is says internal file i wanna get this mod very badly and im begging for help

Put it in the top list (the internal mods list), but makes sure it's at the bottom of that list. If it still says incompatible, just ignore it and try to run the game anyway. This won't run if you have Forge or Optifine installed.
Just use the PM system built into these very forums. It might not be as fast as skype, but it's certainly more sane than creating one because some random people on the internet told you to.
So this "forge" is a new this to me, is it better than modloader?
Recent versions of Forge include ModLoader, but also has extra hooks and features for programmers, and also allows for 4096 block ID's, so yes, it's much better than ModLoader. The problem is, since it can also do more, it overwrites more base classes, and is incompatible with many mods that also overwrite a lot of classes. If it isn't incompatible with any of your mods, I'd remove ModLoader and install Forge, and while you're at it, get MagicLauncher to make things easier xD

I feel stupid for asking this, but where's the download for this version? I noticed about an hour or so ago that the mod update manager was saying there was an update, but hitting download did nothing as far as I could see.
Edit: Found what it downloaded; a 0 KB file called Mine & Blade with no file extension. Derp update manager

Did you try to install the Single Player Commands patch? Read through the first post and you should find it. And if that doesn't work, try to post the the log. The forums will let you post it, and to copy it, click inside the window and press Ctrl + A (Command + A on a Mac), then Ctrl + C.

:/ I'm assuming you have ModLoader, could you post the log you get when trying to run Minecraft?
Edit: OH! Make sure you install the Single Player Commands patch after you install this mod.

I've seen that before, but don't know what it is... What other mods do you have? (I'm not going to be much help myself, I didn't make the mod after all! xD)

Put it in the top list (the internal mods list), but makes sure it's at the bottom of that list. If it still says incompatible, just ignore it and try to run the game anyway. This won't run if you have Forge or Optifine installed.

Recent versions of Forge include ModLoader, but also has extra hooks and features for programmers, and also allows for 4096 block ID's, so yes, it's much better than ModLoader. The problem is, since it can also do more, it overwrites more base classes, and is incompatible with many mods that also overwrite a lot of classes. If it isn't incompatible with any of your mods, I'd remove ModLoader and install Forge, and while you're at it, get MagicLauncher to make things easier xD
