What about naming it an insulator (or something similar), and right-clicking redstone wire with it would transform the redstone wire in insulated redstone wire (that looks like redstone wire with a tunnel-like shape on top of it). When placed, the insulated redstone wire would then be oriented towards the player in a similar way as pistons do, and only the open ends of the tunnel can power blocks or connect to other redstone wire. Maybe the crafting recipe can then be something like a helmet, but made of a different material (like cobblestone, as in the original suggestion).

But I think it won't appear in vanilla minecraft because you can also use rows of repeaters to seperate lines of redstone, or place them at different altitudes with blocks between them to stop them from connecting.

the insulated redstone wire is a good idea. I don't get the part about only oriented toward the player, maybe instead is would place the wire first, the place the insulated tunnel on it.

also this is for so you DON'T need to place a bunch of repeaters (if your making the line of wire long, then you may need a couple) because if you use a bunch of repeaters, there you be a big tick delay and for some map makers, big tick delays would not help.

So you essentially want a divider for redstone wires? It sounds nice in principle but how will you make it work? Will there have to be hundreds of of different combinations? If so, it would be quite time consuming. Someone like a insulated cable might work better though.

    Partial Support.

Q&A time! (don't take this as an offensive, I'm just doing this for fun and organized ;D)

Q: How will you make it work?
A: You are only able to put it down if there are two lines of redstone next to each other. It can't be toggled on/off.

Q: Will there have to be hundreds of combinations?
A: No, it would just be one type of wall, either using an existing texture or a new one

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

the over all lay out of the idea is messy and not organized, please re write the post so that things like crafting recipe, uses ecc. are more clear and visible

anyway the idea doesn't seem intruiging, i did understand near to nothing but from what i have udnerstood isn't it simply better placing a cobblestone block where the redstone wall should be? it would block the current anyway or just use a comparator.

heres what i mean. let's say you want to put two lines of redstone DIRECTLY next to each other, no spaces. so you don't have to put a bunch of repeaters down for the two redstone lines to still work, but not interfere with each other. it would look like a little sliver of cobble. it would make better sense if i was able to show you what it would look like, but i can't find a way to set it up in minecraft :/.

He didn't have a recipe at the time (he just edited it in now) so I have read the post :P And 3 cobblestone in a vertical line already crafts 6 cobblestone slabs, so I don't see that working out.

Yes, but, the item itself is called "Redstone Wall" which sounds like every other wall, as in the size of every other wall :/ to me anyway :P

I see what you mean that it's confusing now (some may think its a wall that takes redstone). if you have a better name for it, please feel free to tell me (also, do you know how to change the title of a thread, i'm a little new to making forums. O_o)

A very good idea, and I would like to reply to every of the more less intelligent people here.

However, it is pretty redundant: Bluestone dust discussion

And another, one: Bluestone, Yellowstone, and Greenstone

Some words: 16 colours is definitely too much, as like the suggestion above it would be nice to have a much smaller range of colours.

yes, i understand, i also agreed the the guy above, 16 is defiantly too much, maybe like one or two w/ the chargestone idea the guy had

Yes there should be a better name, that being that I imagined a "wall" like the all the other "walls" in the game (Cobblestone wall, extra) except made out of Redstone. This however, well I'm imagining, is quite small, to fit between redstone like divots?

Question, how do you obtain a "Redstone Wall"?, do we craft it?, if so what's the recipe?

I don't Support this at the moment for it's vague, that and there might be a better way in functionality.
    No Support, as of now.

Draw > upload > paste here via link.

by don't know how to show it, i mean i can't get a little cobblestone wall to appear between two redstone lines.
plus the title even says "a little wall to separate redstone lines"

for those who saw my colored redstone idea here comes:

    THE REDSTONE WALL

    Q: What is it?
A: what this would basically be a little wall that goes BETWEEN two lines of redstone.

    Q: What's the crafting recipe?
A: The crafting would be 3 cobblestone in a vertical pattern, it would give you about 5 redstone walls.

Q: How Would you use it?
A: so place 5 redstone in a line, now put another line of 5 redstone directly next to it, as you would see, the two lines connect. if you go to place a redstone walla where the two lines meet (doesn't need to be exact) the wall will be placed and the lines of redstone would not connect.

what do you think? should there be a better name? tell me in the comments!

(i'm sorry for no pictures, i don't know how i would show this [can't set it up in minecraft])

um i am verry sorry but if i understood what you were trying to say i might have supported

what i'm trying to say is, if you want to put two lines of redstone next to each other (like the two in the picture) the two different colors would not connnect, so you don't have to do complex wiring using repeater and other stuff. there are also different color other redstone items (i.e. torches repeaters, block ect.) and the colored torches can only power the corresponding stone (so green torches only power greenstone like in the picture)

There are sixteen colors. You missed Magenta.

While I don't think it would quite be necessary to use all sixteen colors of dye, I feel there is some benefit that could be had from having, say, green and blue variants of Redstone. It would allow for some more compactability in multi-device situations, and could potentially allow for a complex machine to take up half of the space it currently does.

To make up for the argument that it is Redstone, it should be renamed Chargestone, and the various colors would be named {%color} Chargestone. Default Chargestone would intersect with all types, as it is uncolored, and therefore neutral. Colored variations of Chargestone would only connect with the same color of dust. As repeaters, comparators, Redstone Torches, and Redstone Blocks, would all be crafted using uncolored Chargestone, and would affect all colors of dust.

Now then, on to the main point of why I posted here. I don't feel this would be very good for Vanilla. Having to use single type Redstone makes for some interesting trickery with Redstone mechanics, and allows for there to be a certain learning curve if you want to become truly accomplished. While I can certainly see a mod being highly successful if it uses the above description, colored Redstone just doesn't seem very Vanilla.

    No (vanilla) support.

actually, that makes alot of sense, i mean, no one is going to use sixteen different colors.

It would be nice for organization, but that's it. The space saved would be minimal.

I would be indifferent if it were added, unless they added new json files for each color, then I would be infuriated. 24 model files for every state with like what, 11 colors? Uggg... But if it were just a tinting like now, then I would be meh.

    actually theres 15 O_o. 1.red 2.orange 3.yellow 4.green 5.blue 6.purple 7.pink 8.limegreen 9.cyan 10.lightblue 11.black 12.grey 13.lightgrey 14.brown 15.white

have you ever wanted to compact your redstone builds, but using repeaters give a bad tick delay and you don't want to download mods? this idea is just for you.

    COLORED REDSTONE

you create it by placing one redstone and one of your choice dye (red dye would not work) and presto, colored redstone.

the thing with colored redstone is, it won't combine with other colors (see pictures in attachments)

also, you could have other redstone items dyed! you just use the wanted redstone item (i.e redstone torch) and the dye and you get the item!

if you have any suggestions or any critique, tell me in the comments. thank you!!!
