posted a message on Windows 10 edition servers?

The FAQ seems to imply that Minecraft on mobile devices can still access servers directly via IP address:

But nothing about Minecraft on Windows 10. For now you might be stuck with the three approved (so far) servers, Mineplex, InPvP, and Lifeboat. I'd expect many more servers to come on line over the next several months. Lots of money to be made for good servers.

Actually Minecraft Windows 10 does still have the option to manually type in an IP address. If you go to Play>Servers> Add Server You can add another server.

posted a message on Using Coordinates is not cheating

My view on the whole thing is that coordinates are important if you want a full survival experience. Coordinates are necessary whenever you are working with nether portals in order to prevent your portal from interfering with your friends portal in multiplayer. People are going to want the opportunity to earn achievements but they also don't want to be limited and now you have a situation where they have to choose between being able to work with nether portals, or get achievements.

This is my case for why coordinates should not disable achievements. Thanks for taking your time to read this.

posted a message on How to Transfer Files from Server to Server?
if this is a host that does not let you access the console for the computer you are running the server on then you are out of luck. you need the filezilla client on the receiving computer and the filezilla server on the computer that you are trying to get the files from.

There is nothing you can do but just try to restart the server. What I do (and this may not work for what you want to use the server for) is I whitelist the server and then issues will be on a case by case basis. ban his username and just carry on.

posted a message on Go play alpha
let's just make this simple. there are some people who prefer the Alpha, and then there are some people who prefer the more recent versions. Can't we just make it so that it's to each their own? Everyone is different and I can respect that you prefer the Alpha, however some people like other versions and should be allowed to like their versions. You should not expect everyone to like what you like just because you like it.

I am working on learning Python so that I could take a crack at modding it. If I succeed I will make a thread with the mods download links in it :) (maybe we can add our own survival mode?)

posted a message on Error "java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" Keeps kicking everyone from the serve
I have it the same way as the OP has it where on my server it freezes and gives me this error while at the same time doing it to everyone else playing as well. this makes me thing that it is a server error and not a client side thing. I just hope that there is someone out there with a solution to this problem.

posted a message on Question to filter out the Immature.
So for those of you who run whitelisted servers which have applications I wanted to get the Admin communities input on this. does anyone have any good Ideas of what question you could put in an application that would sort out the immature applicants from the mature ones? please leave any idea in the comment section and we could possibly brainstorm together to make the ultimate maturity test question/s

posted a message on How long do you think Minecraft will survive?
I heard that when mojang is done with the game completely then they will release the source, multi-player is one my main concerns but I could see mojang making it so that auth servers are not required as a possibility.

posted a message on The role and Duties of server owner
The first mistake that a lot of new server owners (especially younger ones) will make when first making a server is that they think that the server is all about them and that the other players are not as important. However in my four years of running a minecraft server I have come to realize that whenever you are running a server it actually starts to make you happier to give all of your players an enjoyable play experience. that's when you realize that running a server is not about you but is actually about being a link that connects all the player in the minecraft community and making sure that everything runs smoothly. the sense of pride you get whenever you see your players achieve impressive building feats and being able to say "I helped make sure that went along smoothly". so if you are looking into going into minecraft server ownership you need to know that that's what you have to gain from running a server :) also if you run a server feel free to leave a comment on your experiences as an Owner.

    Quote from GameRecker77
Clearly the other mod is in the wrong here. Perhaps you could speak with the actual server owner? Afterall, you've done nothing wrong ;)

just because I found this interesting I wanted to tell you why I found out that talking to the guy who was Owner would not work on this server. it appears that since this mod was a lame duck owner (he stepped down by choice) that server policy still let's him keep his Owner authority. though the guy who is actually labeled as Owner is arguing on my behalf and possibly what will end up happening if all goes well is maybe some issues between the servers will be amended and players will be able to go wherever they want. I am not going to be like a dictator who says "No you can't go to there server." all I want to do is provide a safe haven for the players whom I care for.
