It's the same thing as me creating a server, and a requirement to join being that everyone changes their brightness to low. See how silly that sounds?
No, it's nothing like that. The brightness setting doesnt limit your building options at all, where as survival styled texture packs would. Why on earth would a creative server need survival blocks when it could be marble, or a pillar, or some other cool stuff?
The default minecraft materials can be quite limiting to creative play. The only way to solve this is to get everyone to use a custom creative oriented texture pack, and if people want to see each others builds it has to be the same one.
Some people don't like the idea, but remember, not everyone enjoys building with the normal minecraft materials. Minecraft can be much more than that. I wouldn't even think of servers like this as "minecraft" servers - more like places that use a tweaked minecraft as a creative medium. Hardly a silly idea.
Hmm. I'm having a bit of trouble getting on. When I try to connect I get greeted by a "You're not greylisted" message. The website seems to think I am though. Any ideas?
With regards to the above poster, I can't really speak for the admins having not connected yet, but there's nothing wrong with having some standards for a creative server. It's hard to create a world that tells a story if it's coverd by not very good buildings. Just look at something like Voxel Box. Mind you, I claim no great building skill myself so I'm not sure how much I'll fit in :tongue.gif:
