So to recap, are you following the instructions on the FAQ with the bat file and launching it through the bat file?
Any other method might not be working.
I've tried the bat file.
That was the ONLY method that would let me run it at all with 512. It was at about 3-6 FPS though.
Each other method I've tried gives me the whole "Memory" thing"
For the record, 32-bit Java won't use that much memory. Since Minecraft uses that version by default you'll need to make sure you have the 64-bit version installed and then create a batch file to run it through the 64-bit version of Java.
Here are the contents of the batch file I'm currently using. It utilizes 2 gigs of ram and runs the 128x version of the texture pack on my computer flawlessly.
@echo off
path=%PATH%;"%Program Files%\Java\jre6\bin"
java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar
Please note that the location of your Java program may be in a separate location if you are using an OS other than Windows 7.
I am using a 64 bit OS so I did manually install 64 bit java for when I used one of the realism texture packs and had it set to use 2 gigs.
I can currently run the 128 flawlessly as well with a fresh install of MC and designated no extra ram.
Have you actually enabled java to use those 8gigs?
There are some tutorials in th web about "Java environments Minecraft" and _JAVA_OPTIONS_ or something like that.
It's useless to have 8gigs of ram without telling the programs that they can make use of it. :smile.gif:
AND! the run.bat program I THINK it only uses like 2-4gb you can also try modifiyng the file with notepad and set the values to 7G
But I find the JAVA_OPTIONS_ to be more reliable
Explain yourself?
I use mcpatcher and tried doing the java thing in there for like 3 gigs and 4 gigs and 5 gigs.
nothing.
So i'm trying to make a thing of on/off lights in my base using sticky pistons and glowstone (and redstone)
What i have planned. I want the entire boarder of my base to be outlined with a piston two blocks deep and a glowstone on top of that. This will be continuous in an entire square.
What I need. I want to hit a lever which will active redstone underneath each piston that turns it on and pushes the glowstone to the top of the base to light it up.
Curious if anyone knows why this is happening. I followed the guide on the mineos page, but when I go ahead and shut down the mineos linux system and go to restart it later...there is no more world one when I go to start it on the admin web page.
I can, however, restore it and then it is found.
So right now I've been saving and restoring each time :l
Now I'm having a problem with redstone.
I'm not that great with it. Anything on one layer I can do, but powering something above ground underground confuses me.
I need to do this
Make a button, then wire the button to an inverter and then power the track above it so that when I step on the stone the track switches.
Neither of this makes sense to me. I cannot see anything with these kinds of diagrams or else I would have made one instead of the pictures and text.
I'll attempt to try things I guess.
yeah, sorry about the messy diagram. I tried to make a better one using minedraft Link Removed
If you click on that link, I think that top one is what you currently have (and isn't working), and the bottom one is what I think would solve the problem.
That made a LOT more sense. I tried doing that and it kind of messed itself up, in a good way. It works.
I think it has to do with the fact that it is only a 4 track turn around. It's a little hard to explain, but I will try.
Basically, when you run the current through piece #5, it updates that block. The game also only updates blocks near blocks that are being updated (saves computing power or something like that.) This causes track piece 2 to be updated as well. It may have to do with the south-west rule, but the game pretty much updates track piece 2 to connect 1 and 3. This could be solved with something like this:

I hope that made some sense, because I know those diagrams are awful!

Make sure your redstone (and torches!) are at least 2 blocks under the tracks. I've run into cases where a stray torch (like from an inverter or delay) was one block under the track, and it powered the track piece, causing it to do strange stuff. Try 'stepping' the redstone another level down.
becomes
[]
( = redstone torch, = redstone, = tracks)
Also, you may need to bring the redstone in from another direction, instead of straight in.

Thats not the point right now.
My system is MORE than capable of running 512+ and it isn't.

Intel i7-2600k 3.40
8 gigs of ram
gtx 580 2 gig card
Why can I not run this thing on 512x512?
Downloaded the newest mcpatcher
java 64bit
tried the .bat file which lets it RUN barely.

Anyone have any idea on how to go about this?

How awkward.
Does the cromtab show up in game (Saving world, save complete) when the scheduled time hits, or does it save it all on the back end.

That is the outcome of part one >_<

That doesn't work. I've tried it.
