been doing more texture work lately, so I updated my pack again today! Yay extra updates! Been replacing the art in my kz.png file, so I'll show you guys:

Reason for replacing various artworks of mine, is because I want it to be more Minecrafty and less random art. New pictures include stuff like the large detailed creeper drawing on the bottom, fire skull with skeletons hopping out of it's mouth, enderman face close up, slime cube picture, and map and "zombie weak points" pictures. Rest are just screenshots of the game, or textures from other parts of the pack hobbled together as placeholders, or because I thought they looked neat.

Did quite a few things in the past couple days, so I updated again, calling it 5.1 since it's not a HUGE update, but it's enough to be an update so soon after one recently.

Anyway! GL Art pack, ver 5.1 is now ready for download! Give it a try, please, *please*, leave me some feedback here or something XD I see you all downloading, but not saying anything. :tongue.gif: Speak! Speaaaak!

Okay, no more coffee. Quick note on what's in here (just a few of the things): New custom fire animation, tweaked water and lava animation, new various textures and texture tweaks. Go looksie!

Thievery is stupid. Claiming something that isn't yours is stupid! That squid on an apple is stupid!

*ahem* Did another little doodle. I think this will replace the mojang logo in a future update for my texture pack. I like it better then what I have on there now.

    I agree on Lone Amoeba!

Loving your enderman so far, Apple. Can't think of anything negative to say about it really, it's like it's wearing a human skin over it's true form stitched from it's victims. Grisly! :biggrin.gif:

I updated my pack earlier today so I'm happy about that, did a few more mobs. Now I'm just winding down and sketching out some concept art for a seperate "mob pack" where the mobs will be all high res in my style to make up for scaling down the mobs in my current pack... Kind of like Von Doom's high resolution mobs, only my style and hopefully more disturbing in some ways. Here's a pic of a ghast!

Heyooo! (Steve?), updated my texture pack once more! Mostly mobs, but some other nice things have been done as well! Give it a look, I'm gonna work on getting new screenshots to add to the first post. Please leave some comments!

(Endermen, spiders, etc have been added to the completed mobs list!)

Wait wait wait... this has 5 pages of comments. FIVE. Why does such a masterpiece have such little attention?

Heh. *Shrug* I dunno. I don't advertise myself out enough? Honestly, if I weren't doing this mostly for myself, I probably would've just given up a long time ago XP Thanks for the compliment ^^

It's looking really good, got's that creepy suit feel down I think pretty well.

I think I may eventually redo my entire kz.png file in my pack to make it more in tune with Minecraft itself instead of just grabbing my random artwork or hashing together stuff in SAI quickly so it's no longer default. That'll be a long project, and probably the next sign of when my pack will be ready for another update. Speaking of which, I'm having an issue involving mob skins I was hoping people here could give me their opinion on.

I went on a small ramble about it here on my thread: Thread Link

Basically, I'm starting to feel worn doing my mob skins at the higher than 32x scale for my pack so they look nicer, and want to do them at the actual 32x resolutions from now and, shrinking down the existing ones to that scale, and touching them up if need be. Also think it would make the pack fully and truly 32x, so it'd run better on more ranges of computers. A friend however thinks this is a bad idea and I should continue doing them at the higher scale for the sake of quality and art, and size them down for alternatives for lesser computers. I'm just asking what you all should think I should do, gather some opinions before I come to my own.

(Honestly, I feel that if I'm getting to the point that I can't muster the motivation and energy to keep doing the higher res skins, what's the point? I need to scale down for now! But I still want to hear what you all think).

42, a sharpie marker texture pack would be awesome if it was made I think! I'd like to see it done ^^

Thank you, thank you, thank you BOTH for giving me something I can work with! So lightening up! As in brighter colors? More saturation? Any examples with some of the textures you two can give me? If it's with the default color lighting files of the game, I haven't even begun to mess with that yet, as I've no clue what I'm doing there yet.

Also, I could use some opinions. I might put up a poll on my thread even if that's allowed. I'm in a bit of a tight spot here deciding what to do with my mob skins. Probably going to ask for help over in the TAU thread as well I think. I want to scale down my mob skins so they fit the 32x resolutions better, but this will mean some loss of details inevitably. I will most likely go back and touch up the existing skins, if not overhaul, or outright redo them. Right now, they're on par with a 64x pack's scale I think, or near there.

It's proving to be a bit much work for me anyway, trying to keep that much detail up for this pack at that scale for the mob skins, and still wanting to feel inspired to do things. Doing the enderman mob skin lately at just the 32x scale felt good and refreshing for once.

However, one of my friends feels I'd be doing something bad, if not one of the worst ideas for my pack, ruining "the best part" of my pack by doing this. They feel it would benefit more from the better look of the higher resolution with my art style, scaling be damned and all, and too much is lost if I halve it down to 32x. I tried to argue my points about going back and retouching, but I'm not sure they held much worth there. It's great they believe in my ability that much, but at the same time, at that resolution I've sat around for days staring at the mob templates, just feeling dumb and apathetic about the whole process when it's not as pixellated.. which is weird, since I didn't start out doing much low res art in the first place like this. It's been argued also that I could do the higher res skins, and then do dumbed down copies to please everyone... but what about myself? I don't think I'd be up to doing that, citing personal reasons here, but let's just chalk it up to I only have so much motivation and energy to keep me going in a day.

I'm not saying one's better than the other at any resolution, just that I think.... both have their own merits. The 32x scaled downs would be easier on me overall, but allow me to produce more content faster, and yet in a strange way I think in a way that wouldn't make me feel like quality would be suffering, where if I tried to do higher res, I start losing some of my edge taking forever matching up edges of textures perfectly at such a resolution and getting inscrutable detail right, it drains me of the overall process and general picture, making it suffer unless I'm at an insane creative high. Even then, those only last for so long.

I guess I ask, should I listen to myself where I think I'd do better at just doing 32x skins for now? Or listen to the nudging of my friend saying I should do the high res skins, and then dumb them down as alternatives?

wasn't saying you were, it just looks very flash-y, like something from a high-quality flash animation, so take it as a compliment :tongue.gif:

Thanks XD I'll take it as a compliment then!

Finished my endermen skins. Take a look here at my thread for the screenshots I did: (Link to exact forum post)

Actually liking this style, might make a pack outta it. :smile.gif:

Looks interesting, and different. I'd say go with it!

Number 4, I think you got the pastel-ish limited color palette style figured out, so that looks pretty nice. The first one grass I'm assuming? Stone... Smooth stone has always been a pain in the butt for me in the past I think, wish I could offer some advice. I tried brightening the dark crack lines myself in the past, but that might not work so well if you want it to stand out more, or if it's the pattern itself that's bugging you.

Little update today, to announce I've finished a mob for the next patch to my texture pack sometime in the hopefully very soon future!

    ENDERMEN! :biggrin.gif:

Here's some pictures of the mob I took in game. Going to finish up my spider next, and then from there? Who knows. Maybe the Blaze? Zombie pigmen? I love doing the creepy stuff first.

"Such colorful strange creatures milling about..."

The progress I've made so far with the Enderman skin today. The green color is a layer that will be hue shiftable ^^. Just need to do pretty much the limbs, then some highlighting/shading and smoothing over of the hole areas where the glows are.

Thank you for the compliment, Tinkles. Got your PM, Apple, already responded, thanks.

Edit: Thought I'd share a concept for the enderman I might end up skinning for my pack, see what you guys think.

    Ender Image

Was thinking the enderpearl could be smack dab embedded in it's forehead, while it has these glowing marks/holes that are stretched along it's shadowy flesh, the same color as it's eyes... slightly different markings here and there, and and varied colors for randomobs maybe? Also goofed around a little in my drawing to get a better feel for it. I think I can pull this off, just need to get a feel for the skin template.

Well, I've noticed the TAU a short while ago... Carefully read the OP a couple times, hopefully I'm not missing anything. I figure I might as well try and apply myself. Could be a good way to get the feedback on some of my textures and such that I've been looking for, and get/share assistance with that sort of thing. Anyway

I would formerly like to request a member emblem.
Here is a link to my WIP texture pack, which seems to be forever WIP: Link to Texture Pack thread, all neat and tidy.
(I've read the stipulations about WIP texture packs. I've been working on mine for a little over a year, and have much of it done so far, so I hope that qualifies it.)
Here is a screenshot of my pack in action:

(I recently downscaled the mobs down to the standard 32x proper size for their textures, from a higher res I had them at, to fit the rest of the pack. Which is why they are not as smooth as the preview screenshots in my pack thread. Am going to be making the rest of my mobs at this size from now on.)

    Thank you for your consideration.
