This is still possible, there is a cheat program wich will inject code to client to allow flying noclipping spawning any block etc, but I will not provide a link to it on this forum.

I dont see the problem with mods for single player tho unless Notch has planned some kind of score system with some kind of leaderboard.

I don't think the argument that mods are giving an unfair advantage in, say, multiplayer, is remotely valid. They don't, beyond visual stuff. In multiplayer, mods are useless. And sometimes gamebreaking, if they attempt to do anything beyond beautify.

When I first bought the game, I set up a smp server, before I even knew about admin software etc.
People joined and gathered they'r materials and built.

Then a person joins, and we ask him if he needs any tools to get started, he say's "nah, i'll just dig out some diamond, I always find it fast"

I look for his name to see how he finds diamond so fast, only to see that he has spawned diamond blocks in my cobblestone wall of my first building.

This is done using client side code injection via a wrapper, wich is atleast some of what notch is trying to point out that he doesn't agree with.

And to say this doesnt give any advantage....

Well, as Notch stated, he had nothing against server side mods, mods that would add the same functionality to all users on the server.

Problem is client side code injection, for single player i dont think it matters at all.
But for smp servers, someone running a modified client would have an advantage over the others.

If you see one of his priorities on his todo list is to prevent hacking.
Wich i belive is to try and stop cheating in survival games.

If he allows server side mods, then single player mods that add functionality probably isn't what he is reffering to.

posted a message on Gadaffy's 64x Texture Compilation
Updated main post with links to the original sources of the creators of the textures, and I apologize for not adding them earlier, had been working through the night with them and must have slipped my mind as I saw that I was getting close to being able to release it.

I dragged everything over, and Minecraft keeps crashing on me... :<

You need to use xau's hd texture fix, since its a higher resolution texture file than minecraft normally uses.

Nice job taking other people's work and putting your name all over it. If you're going to make a compilation at least give credit where it's due.

I belive i posted in the original post that most of the textures was taken from other packs, and credits go to the original creators of course.

I just made some of them myself, and modified others, I'm in no way trying to put myname all over it, wich is why it says Compilation pack on the screenshots.

If I have offended you by using any of your textures, please let me know, I only posted this since I put alot of work putting the textures together into one pack, that had the look and feel that i was looking for.

    Gadaffy's 64x Texture Compilation

This is my compilation of 64x textures, some of them are from other packs on this forum, others are self made or heavily modified.

I wanted to keep the original feel of minecraft, while at the same time add some higher definition, and change the ones i felt needed change.

Will update this if there is any interest in this pack.

    Other Features :

    Animated lava,water,fire.
All new items, weapons, tools graphics.
    All new armor.
    And more.

    Download

    Screenshot time , bandwith warning.

    Download

All credits toward the original creators of the textures used in this pack.

    Misa's 64x64 Realistic Texture Overhaul
    JohnSmith Textures V4
    Glimmar's HD 'Steampunk' pack
    Aza's Arid Texture Pack
    Ganstriker's Texture Pack
Mixcraft HD Doku's RPG Texture Pack

If you'r name isn't listed here, and I have used your texture in my compilation, it's because i have gotten some of the textures from other compilation packs.
I have done my best to track down the original creators of those textures, but I do reserve the possibility of missing something.

I apologize to the original creators of the textures i used and modified to include in this pack that I did not list them earlier, I was too eager to get the pack out after all the work i put in it, and I forgot to add them.

posted a message on Official statement about the MCAdmin issue
Give the man a rest guys.
I don't use this admin software myself, but as far as i understand its free no?

So , this guy provided you with a free server admin software, in wich he at one point during development decided to add a developer "backdoor" , most likely to be able to join peoples server without theyr need to give him the nessesary permissions to help out.

A feature added with good intentions.

He makes one mistake by getting abit irritated over a user of his software insulting him.
But he quickly undoes this and straightens it out.
Rumors spread and he apologizes here on the fourms while explaining what happened.

From my standpoint i can only see that he is doing loads of work, to provide a software for free that helps the community, and now that he has added confirmations to the softwares devmode and banlists there should be no sceptisism about it either, specially not with source available.

Thank you for putting in the effort to provide a server admin software, and thank you for adding those confirmation dialogues.

And to the rest of the community, keep in mind that this isn't microsoft coding this, its some guy making it on his own spare time, the software might not always follow the same strict "codes of conduct" as a retail product is held up against.

Inb4 tldr: Nice fix, will try out the software later
