    Quote from Jaga

Having tried all three over extensive periods now (Standard, Smooth, and Multi-Core), I have to admit that overall, the Standard version provides the smoothest and most stable game of all three.

Perhaps it is my rig, but Smooth gives no improvement at all when compared to Standard (in fact standard is much better). I additionally will get invisible textures/meshes on mobs or chests randomly when using Smooth.

Multi-core is (for me), a complete mess. In addition to the invisible textures/meshes from Smooth, it is the least stable. At one point I had to remove it and revert to Smooth to solve random crashing issues that happened around every 10 minutes. Other times it seemed to work fine, but with lower FPS and higher chunk loads. For reference, I run a i7-930 with 12gb on Win7 x64.

Hope the feedback helps. Optifine is a great package.

i have your same problem its sopposedly the "Graphics driver"
i do not beleive the person who told me this knew what he was talking about.

so i will try different versions of lwjgl and then edit this post.

    [EDIT]

I tryed lwjgl 2.8.1, 2.8.2, 2.8.3, and 2.8.4 and my issue progressively got worse with older versions ie mob spirites would disappear faster and more would dissapear sO.....

I deleted .minecraft and reinstalled modloader then forge in that order and bam no spirite problems.

Added optifine hd c2 my jar and the spirite glitches came back I do not think it is my graphics driver :D

    Any advice?

    [EDIT2]

I read your post three times just understand what you are trying to tell me and... DUH I already knew all that if I Didint think that this was an optifine problem I would have complained to the open source intel graphics peeps if it was them but if it was then mc most likely would even start!!!

And ontop of that lwjgl 2.8.4 delays the dissapearing textures the longest so... There is a conflict between lwjgl and optifine cause it isint vannila, forge, or modloader.

i have a problem using Linux.
when i install optifine normal, smooth, or multicore. i experience spirit glitches for the player and mobs that is annoying as hell.

i am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with sun's JRE 1.7_04

I have no problems after using my windows installation so it is not the driver for my graphics.

I say they change the chance you get things at different levels. I enjoy the system not the randomness

When I got the crash I had been delving into a cave, I didn't do anything in particular that I hadn't been doing for an hour by that point.

    Halp.

    your gpu looks nice fyi

and try redownloading and reinstalling mod from atomic strykers site.

then go into cave and tell me if it happens again.

if it does happen again then create a new world pull out a ropes+ arrow and tell me if it crashes.

if it does then idk how to help you. as long as you redownloaded ropes+

WOOT this idea is awsome! nice find.

    Quote from Doom Lich

This was actually all perfectly possible before using pistons to block fluid flow. This is more a quality of life thing, and condenses the amount of space necessary

Yes ^ its easier to make dispensers then sticky pistons in survival
