Honestly it's better than I remember. It's a shame everyone poo-pooed it so early, as it's actually a lot of fun. Sure, the dungeons are boring and the world seems uninspired, but it still has Vexy flare.
It's funny how it just came and went. Forgotten.
Oh well, I hope Vechs makes a new map at some point. Really it could be another mini map and I'd be stoked.
I'm still looking for someone who wants to join me on a quest to finish all the Super Hostile maps out there, I have a server ready to start whenever anyone is ready. If you are interested add me on Skype @ dagefromhell . We can work out a schedule to play on later.
I make a lot of maps in my free time, and I'm posting the results here. You probably won't be too impressed
I'm listing the maps in ascending order of difficulty (my opinion). So far I've made 8, will be releasing them periodically. When I get to 8 I'll make a 9th
Map 01: The Forest of Pain
This map might be hard, but it kind of feels like one big derp. It was my first "experiment," so don't expect anything special from this download.
Just a fun romp around different lands in Minecraft. Go to the four sides of the world and collect the Mob Eggs and place them in the item frames at the origin (x0,z0). Not really challenging, more of just a big survival map.
Despite being the largest map in my series, Jungle Doom Jungle Doom isn't that difficult. I just created this map to bring "heavy jungle exploration" into Minecraft. Also, you get a good bow
Much like Great Lands, Survival is really just a Minecraft survival map. But there isn't a laundry list of goals, this map is focused on finding the end portal and killing the Ender Dragon. Simple, and good Oh, and you don't have regenerating health, because that's cool.
Why don't you just move to somewhere with better internet?
Jokes and such aside, good luck getting that all sorted out. Hope you can keep uploading videos, they're top-notch (heh) quality.
My favorite 1.6 feature for mapmaking is definitely Resource Packs. I could record myself reading the rules of the map/ story books, add new sound effects, add new music, whatever I like. Lots of possibilities, too bad most players are too lazy to download a pack to play a CTM map.
I want the creeper sound to be Three_Two saying "Catch you on the flip side"
Yes everyone, let's all bow down and kneel at the Vechs Monument, as we chant black magic and sacrifice our firstborn children and two limbs in prayer for the arrival of the holy Super Hostile #13 on the anniversary of the birth of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
/s
I mean, seriously, I think Vechs himself would disagree with you on that one.
I think we should "bow down and kneel." These maps are fun no matter how crappy they are, at least for me. And no, Xmas just seems like a good spot to release a map. I'm Jewish. Would you prefer I said "Hanukkah?"
Quick question to anyone reading this, does Sea of Flames II work on 1.5.2? 'cause with the recent changes i'm not sure, and i don't want to waste time looking for stuff that doesn't exist/work.
Of course it works. But it might be a little harder or a little easier, because Vaks didn't build the map in this current version. The 1.6 update tomorrow probably won't change too much, save the attributes and golden apples and potions being much more not good. It's a good thing
A map shouldn't be immune to criticism just because it's a Super Hostile map. All maps should be criticized when they deserve it and praised when they deserve it. If you don't agree with that, then you shouldn't be critiquing maps or telling others not to.
Well, I was never critiquing, and no, I don't have any position in telling people not to hate on maps. I just wanted to I love all maps, even really bad ones (at least they are all more interesting than vanilla).
