The reason I hadn't been talking much about the trees is because notch's new trees currently are currently not based on the foliage color file. The file has been changed yet it doesn't seem to affect either of the new trees. I am hoping this will get fixed before I release the pack but if it doesn't The scrap shacks will have to be... scrapped.. at least temporarily..
About this problem. As your words and picture shows, the new tree's leaves will change color and the old tree's leaves will not. This means the old trees can still be shacks, while the new trees can remain as trees! This works out better than every tree being a shack in my opinion, for it is pleasing to have trees around even if there are not many. The only problem with this is that all three tree types share the same inside log pattern, meaning that even non-shack trees will have a piece of scrap showing when the branches begin to grow. A creative solution to this issue would be making this inside log pattern stylistically match both normal bark, and shack material. < Tree bark for both of these patterns perhaps? You will find an aesthetically pleasing solution, of that I am certain! Good imagining to you, History!
Doors. If the you would like to see the bottom portion of your doors easier, perhaps you could put transparency on the bottom. Mimicking the image of the top or whatever you please. Though I understanding not liking that style of door.
You can grow trees right next to eachother by my understanding, try this and find out. I know for a fact that they will grow if there is one cube between them. (This one cube would be a good place for a torch.)
This sounds entertaining! I voted for zombies only, I think it will give a more unique vibe to the scenario. Perhaps spiders in the subway would be interesting. 80%-90% zombies would be killer. Minecraft is amazing, and these types of scenarios and maps are one of the many reasons why! This would make for a very interesting map once multi-player is fixed. I am looking forward to this, good building and good adventures to you. *Also, the cube around the city works for multiple reasons. 1) Minecraft is made of cubes 2) It seems to me that a government would wall off a plagued city such as this 3) Could create a sense of claustrophobia to add to the atmosphere. I think it would be interesting if you put some designs on this wall, logos on the outside or something. This really is not necessary, it just reminds me of the Resident Evil movie :biggrin.gif:
For the colorfully tuned crowd. Thanks Kas, Painterly is great! *copy paste this little flower combo into the corresponding section on your terrain.png.
I like this. I think you could take it further though. Increasing the amount of sand and cacti, spreading more plants through out (trees, grain, reeds, pumpkins soon!), making an area for each biome section of your cave (desert cave, swamp cave, grassy field cave,), things like that. Of course increasing the size of the cave would help too! (A glass ceiling somewhere could be interesting to look at.) You have an interesting idea here, take it as far as you can take it!
Really good stuff here! This color palette is far out. I dig it greatly. I edited the cobble stone texture, simply replacing it with the brick texture and adding the colors of the original cobble stone > and the mossy version > Oh yes, a wood that is the same color as the tree trunks as well > To use these one would need to copy them into the corresponding position on the terrain.png image. (Perhaps I could have shown these here so they would not be so small, though I am not sure how to go about doing that.)
I like your mob textures as well, so I snagged the zombieBlue for my player texture and added a some grotesque-ery. Here that is!
I felt I should post these here for you since I would not have them without you creating them! A trade of sorts. Thank you very much for your work and imagination! I hope to see more art from you in the future! Exclamation!
*My altered wood textures look a bit strange close up, from a distance they're alright, I will continue to work on this. Also in this picture are the modified cobblestone and mossy cobble stone I posted.(Thanks to you!)
