Guys, I believe the nether star is, itself, blast resistant. When Panda did his automining with the wither trick, he got blown up by a creeper just before he picked up the nether star. If it were not blast resistant, it would have been destroyed because the creeper was right on top of him, but he came back and found it.
I was wondering if the Fortune enchant has gotten less likely in 1.6.2. I have enchanted about 12 diamond picks and 15 iron picks and gotten Fortune III only once and Fortune II twice (One iron, one Diamond, so no combining). I need to get Fortune III on a diamond pick in order to advance my game and, though I have gotten 2 Silk Touch, Efficiency IV, Unbreaking III picks, I have gotten zero Fortune III. Small sample size, I know, but from the videos of the Mindcrackers they seem to be having the same problem.
I'm playing Super Hostile Inferno Mines. There is no water that I've found on the map, but I have weakness potions and golden apples from dispensers and random loot chests. Due to something I don't think Vechs anticipated, I have over 8 stacks of hoppers. Is it possible to make an automatic iron farm with no water?
My best idea yet involves having the golems spawn in lava placed on top of signs at their head height. I know that golems can spawn inside water blocks (which is how normal iron farms work), but I don't know if they can spawn inside lava blocks, or inside signs for that matter. Does anyone know more about golem spawning than what the wiki says?
Covering the floors of every cave with half slabs would probably take less time and would also eliminate all mob spawning. If you like, you could clear out everything from 16 down to get the diamonds and redstone, but the rest of it just isn't worth it.
If you have been playing this world long enough, it is possible that you loaded the chunks where the eye of ender is pointing you to in a previous patch. If you did this, the world generation algorhythm could have changed enough between versions that, were those chunks loaded today, there would be an end portal there. Eyes of Ender lead you to where the game would generate an end portal right now, were you to generate new chunks right then, so these old chunks are overwriting the portal.
I actually have some experience with this, as in one of my old worlds I had two end portals within 100 blocks of each other due to differing world generation algorhythms. You just got the opposite version of this interaction.
I'm playing on the JL2579 fanserver, and we have a problem. Somehow, the mob cap in the End has been set to 2, so our enderman farm is mostly nonfunctional. This is a problem for me especially, because I am of the opinion that the game really starts once enchanting is dirt cheap. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this happening, and if so if you have ever found a solution.
I am trying to build the massive mob trap featured in JL2579's recent video on building efficient mob farms. I have the blocks and the double chest of pistons I will need already, but I have no good source of string. I have found a double cave spider spawner and want to build a farm with that, but I have a problem. My computer just barely runs Minecraft well, so I don't want to overtax it by building up a huge amount of cave spiders while AFK. I need a way to collect and automatically kill the spiders while either getting the items to me or to an AFK stream going out of the loaded chunks.
I would use a YouTube design, but the problem is that all of them assume that you want the spiders for EXP as well as string, so none of them actually kill the spiders, but rather keep them alive in a holding cell. There are no good designs for a cave spider killer on YouTube.
This is all true, except that straight protection works by redirecting the damage to you to the armor. A protection IV chestplate may make you nigh invulnerable, but it won't last very long. The other protections actually reduce the damage you take from the source and don't damage the armor further, so a suit of armor with blast protection, fire protection, projectile protection, and one piece of protection will last a lot longer than a complete protection IV suit would and makes you similarly invulnerable.
Does anyone else think fire protection is unfairly underrated? I was recently taking a bracing involuntary swim in a lava pool while wearing a diamond fire protection IV chest, feather falling IV protection III boots, and some iron and noticed that I was taking zero damage. At all. Just the boots would not have done that. Since natural mob spawns aren't really a threat once you have iron armor, much less diamond, lava is always the biggest threat in the game unless you have a fire resistance potion on you at all times (sometimes you mis-pour your water bucket in panic and wind up dead). Fire protection is pretty bad when you have to deal with a lot of mobs at once, but if you're caving or dealing with Blaze it's pretty awesome, in my opinion.
I'm trying to remove the edge white pixels from glass and glass panes, to make the glass more transparent. I quickly learned that MSpaint is not the correct program, as it cannot handle transparency and leaves you with huge white squares instead of torches, glass panes, etc. I downloaded GIMP and tried to set white to transparent, but somehow this resulted in making all textures translucent and apparently removing light gradients. How do I do this?
