Thank you for your reply. Are you able to answer the question about making the adventure map downloaded (copied) to the server perform as it should?

The link to the map is here:

    The Redstone Path

It would be great if this is the only stumbling block in the process of getting the server to work properly.

I've scanned the forums and performed a number of searches, but the terms make for difficult search results without ambiguous answers. This forum appears to be the best suited for my questions. If that is not the case, please advise.

It's been a couple of years since I've played Minecraft and I've forgotten an incredible amount! I've been tasked with creating a stand-alone server for a library project, an independent wired network of six player stations and a dedicated server. The server is an HP running Windows 7 64 bit (with 64 bit java) and 8 GB system memory, a terabyte of drive space and no other applications installed. The processor is an AMD A6-3620, although I don't know if that's a good performer.

This will be as plain vanilla as one can make a server, but I'm not averse to suggestions for improvement via simple plug-ins or mods or whatever they are called.

I was able to install the server software and connect a test workstation using my minecraft sign-on. I felt that was a good sign. I'm now "opped" on the server, for obvious reasons. There's a lot of good information on the 'net for these small details, but my understanding is generally lacking.

The library desires a non-violent gaming environment, and I've found an adventure map named The Redstone Path which appears to meet those requirements. Again, following information from the 'net, I copied the world files into the server directory after removing the default files and backing them up to another directory. According to what I've read, the folder is to be named "world," which it is.

I can connect with my (likely underpowered) workstation to the server using the appropriate IP address and port number. I'm dropped into the map but not where the video for The Redstone Path would begin the adventure. This happened before I raised myself to op. If I have to dis-op myself to perform proper testing, that's not a problem either.

I've made a few edits in the server.properties file, but can't be certain I haven't scewed up something in the process.

Am I in error to believe that a player on this server can be spawned at the proper location for the adventure? If I'm not in error, how does one set the spawn point for such a configuration? I don't have the coordinates for the spawn, but are they needed?

I'll stick to one question at this time. I have only a few weeks to make this work, including testing in the library as the eventual goal before 'launch'.

posted a message on Minecraft No Longer Officially Working With Oculus Rift
I suppose this is as good a thread as any to post this question/observation.

It's old news that Notch wanted nothing to do with Rift once SpaceBook purchased the company. The same old news category is that Notch sold the company to Microsoft. He would therefore have no decision making power should MS decide to embrace the Rift.

I'm no fan of Spacebook, nor of MS, but I enjoy to play Minecraft and would like to see it via the Rift. Even anaglyph glasses are a bit of fun.

Any leads/rumors about this out there in the 'net?

When i press "start downloading" and walk around the area i want to download it doesnt save. when i go into my single player world some chunks around the area spawn but theirs just flat terrain where the thing i want cooped should be. how do i fix this?

After you have walked around the area, are you also using the "stop download" button? It may be a foolish question, but one must cover obvious and simple things before jumping into the complex stuff.

After you press "start downloading" are you getting the prompt to select multi-world support and/or the text indication that downloading has started? After you press "stop downloading" do you wait for the text indication that the world has been saved?

I do evrything what is in isntallation and i cant find 1.7.2 wdl in "use version " .

Having just completed the install, I would suggest to read the instructions again. You have to open the .json file in a text editor and add the .wdl to the id field within the .json file.

Look for 1.7.2 on the first line of the .json file and change it to 1.7.2.wdl and you'll probably be okay.

I have read, over time, every message on the currently 52 pages of this specific forum. Without exception, the common suggestion is that posters should not ask when the next version will be released. Probably the next most common suggestion is that requesting updates isn't going to speed up the process. Read the messages and one will learn that the project is underway.

"The least he could do..." is meaningless. The creator of this work has zero obligations to anyone and is generous enough to use his talents to improve this sort of thing for the community. If someone contributes financially, perhaps there may be some benefit beyond helping the situation, but realistically, let the man do his thing on his own schedule.

From now on, I'm just going to report any posts in this thread that ask when it will be updated. I've already posted all of the information available at the top of the thread and several times since MC was updated on what I'm waiting for. If you are too dumb to read what I and others have already posted on here then you should just go away.

I've "voted up" this post using the icon in the lower right corner. I'm glad to see this appropriate response.

I'm with the "trouble with doorbell" fellow when it comes to redstone, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate creative genius when it knocks me in the nose.

I'm waiting for someone to build a working go game board, even a nine-line board would be impressive if it can handle captures and ko situations. Even more impressive would be automatic scoring, but just building the board with a working player interface to put stones on the board could mean playing in Minecraft just for the fun of it.

I had an older version of the launcher, which does not ask if one wants to upgrade, so I've been pushed to 1.4 automatically. I've searched the 'net and this forum for an answer, and came up empty-handed.

    help would be appreciated

    thanks
