i know how the item index is numbered (starts 0-255, left to right...) but i dont know if you include spaces and if you do, either way by my cound i never reach two of the numbers i know (diamond sword 66 and sign 42, always a few numbers off) :s idk if im a terri-bad counter or what but i swear i have no idea why i keep getting wrong numbers. Anyhow id like to know what number the slot after the book (below the iron door) would be as i added a texture there :smile.gif:
also if i do this (as i intend the mod on a server, albiet its very simplistic :tongue.gif:) am i going to need to send everyone on the server the mod or just the textures or both?
Thanks in advance,

Jan 9, 2011seems interesting, albiet i take it that its multiplayer use is limited to the server owner yes? as his computer clock should work the servers clock... at least i hope. would suck if everyone could effect the server with their own lol ;DPosted in: Mods Discussion
Jan 5, 2011Official Post for Ter's Playhouse server, old thread can be found herePosted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
This server is generally vanilla with a simple server wrapper (may be considered a mod im not sure) that we have mostly for admin purposes as well as the /home and /sethome command. This is for convenience, so you can travel far away from spawn, and thus from easy reach of griefing, and yet not have to travel the distance every time you die.
We do have a "town" starting up here, has no name yet, but seems to be starting off ok with Leroy as "mayor" and me as more or less co-mayor or admin overseer and practical judge :biggrin.gif:
Anyways hope you all enjoy this server, and we hope to see members from the old map start hopping in again too :smile.gif:
Jan 5, 2011Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)Quote from tmcaffeine »Quote from Tereas »Quote from tmcaffeine »Fun server if you can stand the massive fits of lag.
I think you may be getting me confused with someone else. :tongue.gif:
But no, it was definitely not just me or my connection. For a good five or ten minutes EVERYONE was lagging really badly and complaining about it. It was to the point where everything going on around me (player movements, stuff like that) was at least 30 seconds behind. This has happened twice while I've been on the server.
Id like to point out that lag isnt as bad as this post may make it seem. Usually you get a few occasional moments where your text will take awhile to show up, but they dont last. Larger cases occasionally happen, depending on what is going on in the server. Large explosions of tnt, and setting a forest on fire cause major issues, aside from the irritation of cleaning up afterwards. Its also theorized by me and ur_last_sight that the remaining flaming trunks may also cause some lag if in render distance, so we have tried our best to clean griefer messes in this regard. It is too bad Minecraft fires dont actually burnout on their own and leave flaming pyres.
Yay for comments in review of the rest of this post xD Dan's post, as far as im aware, should be the official post for this server, which is linked here.
Jan 5, 2011ha wyz your english is just fine most of the time ;D glad your back. Sorry about no new post in the alpha thread, but i think the forum owners locked those simply so that old servers that died wouldnt keep getting posts, start a fresh forum for servers that are actually running. Or so i guess. Yes, new map, we may use the old one eventually, but for the time being were using the current one because it has yet to have save issues or something or other. I need to ask Ter if its not the map, just that the beta update may have had a fix, but he usually knows what hes doing so this isnt likely.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
At least when final hits we can finally get a map to keep for certain :biggrin.gif:
Jan 5, 2011@tmcaffine well maybe i wasnt refering to you :smile.gif: This was another case of an issue about the rules of no greifing or killing, and what a vanilla server means, and as i stated in my post it relates to your issue, but was another incident. :smile.gif: If you were not given a second chance, I will attempt to get the ban lifted, which will most likely be the case. (although in the case of the other incident, he will not unbanned because he continued to burn down a forest after the rules were properly stated to him. If you did not get this chance, as you say, the ban will be lifted. If you did and continued to greif, it will not.)Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
as for the conversation at hand... there is two views to take on rules, open or closed. The open view is that "The rules don't say I can't", obviously your view on rules, and closed, "The rules dont say I can", and then there is common sense which says "It doesn't say I can't, but I would likely get into trouble in most situations." Most servers dont let you kill or greif people. So why would we? Common sense and caution should have clue'd you in to use a closed view on our rules, because it should have been taken for granted. What you should have done was ask first, not recklessly kill, burn, rape and pillage because the rules oddly didnt state specifically that you couldnt. I asked about 10 people who joined the server after my posts (likely because i inadvertantly bumped it to the top :tongue.gif:) if they thought they were allowed to greif and kill here (also noting that most of them read Tereas' thread due to its bump, and not danephen's). No one thought so.
So why did you? This brings up some really distressing questions considering that none of the three admin's have any particularly nice thoughts to greifer's. The question is do you WANT to grief people? Ruin their hard work? Is this your fun? This appears to be the case from what i can tell. :s
Jan 4, 2011In a seperate post due to its not full relation to the post above, and after reading what seems to be going on in the posts above...Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
I would like to point out that while the rules above dont really say no greifing and such, me, nor danephen, had any reason to check this post previously due to being op/admin on ter's server before it was beta, and we have followed the previous rules thusly, including no greifing etc. at the moment Ter isnt available for me to talk to (or i wouldnt be making this post) but neither of us were made aware of rule changes by Ter or if this is another issue. Furthermore the rules may have been changed and this thread should be changed and locked, which i will discuss with Ter first i see of him. I do recall seeing another post when i searched for this one, i will check it and edit it in here if this is the case...
Edit: and as is the case here, but this post was made by danephen, and thus we have conflicting rules. All bans will stay as is, pending finality on rules which will be discussed asap. In the case of reverting to rules stated in this post, and not dan's, bans made due to this rule confliction will be lifted.
Jan 4, 2011I have not read the above posts, but a quick look suggests this post shall help. Lets define vanilla shall we? Vanilla, pretty basic. Vanilla ice cream, the first, the favorite. Also the most basic. One could add chocolate chips, one can add other flavors. Now lets relate this to minecraft SMP. Each flavor of icecream can be descibed as a mod, or many groups of mods, each giving a server (icecream) a unique taste and flavor you wont find anywhere else. even the players them selves contribute to this. Furthermore vanilla is modless, basic, and plain. The core of it all. But still the same each companies vanilla, or other flavor, tastes and is made slightly different. These are the RULES. And yes, I do dare say this is what vanilla really means. That a vanilla server is basic, and the core of Minecraft, which is to say un-modded. This isn't to say it doesnt have rules, as they most definately do.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
Moral of the story? No one CARES if you think greifing is ok, when we clearly state that it WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. And iI' not saying I'm unforgiving towards you misunderstanding either. But it really pisses me off when I give you a second chance and you still go and burn down a forest because you misunderstand the meaning of "vanilla" and somehow cant get over the fact that, oh my, guess we have rules like - not being a ***** and ruining other peoples hard work and then going and burning a forest becuase between you and us there has been a misunderstanding on the word vanilla. Its a word. Its OK. You could have brought Google Dictionary instead of your Flint and Steel.
This is in response to, well, you know who you are via the example above. But this should apply to EVERYONE over EVERY server. Maybe someone made a mistake. Maybe you didn't know, and maybe we didn't and its ok. We will forgive you. This doesn't mean you can continue disobey the rules or you WILL be banned.
Dec 15, 2010Posted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer DiscussionQuote from Redmoonblade »Are you kidding me? o_O Play singleplayer for once. Play it when you are waiting for updates on multiplayer. Multiplayer will be done when it's done, and not before.
maybe because playing a game by oneself is lonely? -.- besides, i agree with ter. even if its beta, still, multi has become quite broken. and has anyone ever played a multi game beta (take the halo reach beta for example) in which half the game (multi and single = 2 halfs yes?) being almost broken to the point of not being worth playing? no thats what alpha is for. beta is for testing a nearly finished product and adding the spit and polish and finding those bugs that most people would likely have not found anyways (cept theres youtube theses days :tongue.gif:), at least thats how most companies do betas, and is the benchmark for what beta is, and i have yet to play a beta this broken... anyhow it still seems like one is all HEY BETA! when multi still feels like alpha, which is ter's point i think, in saying it shouldnt be beta yet if multi, half the game, doesnt fit the term "beta".
one could also view his post as: "Give multi some love, Notch!" :biggrin.gif:
Dec 15, 2010OH HAI :biggrin.gif: id been wondering why i couldnt join the server for like the past month.... :tongue.gif: you guys on another server atm or something? :biggrin.gif: anyways i cant wait till you get it back up from patch lol :biggrin.gif:Posted in: Alpha - SMP Servers

Oct 29, 2010Posted in: Alpha - Minecraft Halloween UpdateQuote from Zytheus »Quote from toad772 »Im going to take what I said in annother thread before this one started.
This would make 2 lanterns, which burn infinitely. The Stone (not cobblestone) makes it much harder to craft then regular torches, while still a very easily found source. If it is still too easy, I guess we could mine the center piece out of that glowing hell material.
That is perfect......Anyone who says that is too easy is a damn idiot.
i like this. easy enough material wise (no hard to find stuff) yet still harder than torches and would take some time to make :smile.gif: im personally worried about not being able to make enough lanterns, i hate not being able to see...
Oct 22, 2010i dont simply because its not in the downloadable game, although i do max out that window most of the time! :tongue.gif: but i really wish i could have legit full screen, as then i could record stuff with fraps :biggrin.gif:Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
btw i saw this the other day...
spider rider anyone? lol... that was off topic lol
