How Long Have You Played Minecraft?
About a year, starting on 1.5.2

What Do You Enjoy Doing Most in Minecraft?
    Exploring, building, farming.

Why Do You Want to Join the Server?
I enjoyed the amplified terrain on the previous vanilla map and like having the vanilla option when I am looking for more of a survival challenge.

    How Will You Contribute?
By playing respectfully and contributing to community projects where I can.

    How Much Will You Play?
Survival will still be my main server as far as fulfilling my duties as mod and developing my town but will probably opt for vanilla a couple of times a week when I'm looking for the purer challenge that amplified vanilla snapshot offers.

posted a message on How Do You Sort Minecraft Profiles in Launcher?
I saved the changes I made to the launcher_profiles.json and it loaded ok as far as the profile names and versions but they just don't stay in the order I saved them. When I launch Minecraft they are put in a different order and that order is saved to the launcher_profiles.json when I quit Minecraft again.

posted a message on How Do You Sort Minecraft Profiles in Launcher?
I edited my launcher_profiles.json to try and simplify all the profiles I had going which worked ok but the only problem I have is keeping them in my preferred order. I wanted to have them sorted by user name and then version but every time I launch Minecraft it changes the order they are listed. Is there some way to control the sorting of the profiles?

Fullscreen does not work because LWJGL 2.8 (and very outdated graphics driver)

Ok, thanks. Guess I'll have to learn to live with it. In any case I wasn't so much looking for a solution as pointing out that 1.6 does work in OSX 10.5.8 as long as you don't run it full screen.

So which version of Minecraft are you running? Did you see the firewall popup dialogue I mentioned?

A fix has been pushed out for a while that automatically switches the LWJGL version on 10.5 systems so Minecraft remains playable. In reality you shouldn't use 10.5 - it's ancient.

Unfortunately I have to keep it on 10.5.8 to run some legacy software. Actually I could probably upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6) but higher than that they dropped Rosetta.

Minecraft is playable in the small window but still can't be played full screen with the latest version.

I have the same problem in OSX 10.5.8 but I thought it was ok in 10.6 and above. It runs no problem on Lion. OSX 10.5.8 I can only run it in the small launch window. Full screen or maximised window just locks it up.

Which version of Minecraft are you using? I could never get it working between Macs with 1.5 but 1.6 LAN works for me.

You could try launching it with full screen turned off. I have noticed on Mac when it isn't in full screen I get a popup dialogue to allow Minecraft access through the firewall. When I run full screen the dialogue seems to be hidden behind the main window. Once connected switch it back to full screen.

Here is a list of currently known bugs and problems:

    1. Mac OSX 10.5:

Minecraft 1.6 currently does not work because of issues in LWJGL (library that Minecraft uses) that is out of Mojang's hands. This will be fixed when the makers of LWJGL fixes this bug and releases a new version.

Since Minecraft 1.6, Minecraft no longer supports Java 5 and PowerPC Macs.

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running OSX 10.5.8 and it does run Minecraft 1.6.2 as long as I don't run it full screen. If I set it to full screen I just get a black screen and can't do anything. I have to hard-reset my iMac to get out of it. If I launch 1.5 and go in to video settings to turn off full screen and then launch 1.6 it runs fine. However even maximising the window will cause a lock up so I can only run it in the small window it launches in.

If I install Forge into the 1.6 update do I still get horses or does it downgrade Minecraft?

Well I added the minecraft.jar to the firewall on my MacBook (Lion) and I can see it from my iMac but unfortunately the iMac is on Snow Leopard and there doesn't seem to be a way to add the jar to the Snow Leopard firewall. Though I can see it (the MacBook) from the iMac I still can't join. It times out. Will have to try and figure out a way to allow the jar in Snow Leopard by the looks of it.
