could you make some of the maps for the beta 1.9 prerelease and make it creative mode, cuz i want to build in creative mode on a flat ground., thx big fan of yours!
ok, so I'm making an 8-bit calculator, thats a lot of the decimal to 7 seg. decoders, the way i know are just a row of blocks 1 off the ground, with redstone on top, then redstone torches over redstone on the ground to light the seven segment display, is there an easier version, because i dont want to make so many of those
It's just 10^n
with n being the number of digits on the display, obviously not accounting for the 2^n2 for the binary portion.
that's right, and if you do the math, its a lot, but now im relizing this, if i use the decoder jms_gears1 posted, would i still need the decimal to 7 seg. decoder, because those are actually what i mentioned as being a pain, right?
Sorry for not helping, but I can't imagine building a binary-to-decimal converter takes "forever" to build. I haven't used/built any of these yet, so I don't know if there are any compact designs, but if I were you I'd build one myself. It's more fun than copying someone else's design.
oh you are completley right, a binary to decimal decoder is extremely simple, it is just a line of blocks with redstone torches and redstone on it, the thing is that to make a calculator it would take litterally hundreds of these to function (i think its hundreds, not really sure though) so making all of these would be a big pain
Check that out, and figure out how it looks. I challenge you to not DL the .schematic and figure it out like I did. It always helps to understand things.
well honestly i would love to download the schematic, and take a look at in in-game to figure out how it works, i cant really tell by the pictures, unfortunatley mcedit wont run on my mac so i cant use the .schematic files. :sad.gif: either way this is incredible, and thanks for showing this to me,the funny thing is that now i haven't even thought about this stuff for so long, not sure i'll be able to get anything else to work, either way, thx so much for this, i will definatly make a post if i make a calculator!
So, I've wanted forever to make a calculator out of redstone, pointless, but just epic! The problem is, (atleast with how i know how to make it) this would take nearly forever. I want to add and subtract 5 or so bits (i think that's right, not sure) and display the answer in base ten numbers on multiple seven segment displays.
My problem is how long it would take to make just the binary-decimal-seven segment decoders, for those (insert accuratley insanely large number here) numbers needed. I have seen a binary-seven segment decoder that is insanely compact, but displays in hexa-decimal, i dont want that. Is there some way to make all those decoders, much faster and more compact, and display in base ten. I have seen vids of things like this, but have no clue how they did it.
Thank you to anyone smarter than me with redstone or that has built this before. Please leave a comment on how to do this. If i ever make it, I will give you credit for helping me.
I got 80 diamonds, but technically had to cheat to get 64 of them. In the sandy world at the end, i looked around and found a double chest but had to break one block to get the stuff out of it, so without cheating at least a bit, i had 16 diamonds, nice map! :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif:

cool, but i really dislike hexadecimal, and really want base ten thanks anyways though
