It would be great to have compact TNT cannons, I plan on building a castle with TNT cannons all over the walls. What if there was a cannon that could shoot in 4 directions at the same time, using the same amount of TNT as a normal shooter.

Not everyone hates boosters. They don't take too terribly much extra iron if made properly and are popular because they immediately bring a minecart up to full speed with some bonus momentum to boot.
train mechanism: Having a way to force minecarts together would be pretty awesome, even I have to agree. How it would affect physics though might be difficult to program.
Powered minecarts: Also not a bad idea, as it would improve the game for those who don't want to use boosters. I have a map where I do not use any cheats, hacks, or glitches, but I still don't use minecarts on it because they are essentially useless without boosters because poweredcarts don't pull enough weight.
Bumping: If this would end boosters, then no. I wouldn't support that.
Notch has already said that he intends to remove booster mechanics from the game. So whether or not you like it it's going to be happening eventually.
Everyone hates boosters. I mean sure it's satisfying once you're done, but I'd rather be building something else.
That's why I've decided to post my 3 ways to fix mine-carts.
1.Train mechanism.
Right now the mine-carts bump each other around when in a train. I suggest that when placed next to each other that they form a bond and stick together so that ideally the engine could be at the top with maybe a booster engine at the back. This way the powered mine-carts would push the carts even after a long fall. Secondly...
2.Powered mine-carts.
I think that these should have a way of going faster, and sharing the momentum going down hills so that the carts will stay together and still go very fast. Also, booster carts should be able to pull more weight. It's annoying that you need about 3 just to go up a long hill.
3.Bumping.
The MineCarts should just stop when they hit another one. No weird mechanics there.

This is my spawn point bunker, I built my house far away from it for no real reason. My mine-cart system loops around all the way here, but I'm not doing boosters so I'll just wait until he fixes the carts.

I need a plan so that I can activate a 30 second or similar timer that activates lots of TNT.
Originally a powered mine cart went down a track until it hit a pressure plate at the end, but apparently mine carts don't activate pressure plates :/ Any ideas?
