RPGS are ok but I don't like where Notch is going with this whole crappy lvl, permanent deaths and hunger. I love the npc idea, but this is stupid. Its gonna be like WoW except worse. :tongue.gif:

Adventure Update != Adventure Mode
You'd know that if you watched Notch's twitter.
Adventure Update = Making Minecraft from sandbox to an actual game.
Adventure Mode = A mode where you are unable to place blocks.
Also, my opinions:
Hunger - Challenge! I've been wanting that since...Minecraft first came out.
Perma-Death - I've always played with "Die = Delete World" so I don't truly mind this.
Leveling - FUUUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Minecraft simply isn't a mmorpg. Nope. Not at all. Zero. Don't do it Notch. DON'T ****ING DO IT.

But if this is indeed in plain minecraft it is indeed the death of this once-good game. :sad.gif: I might have to move AGAIN like I did with roblox because of their stupidity. Maybe Infiniminer or Blockland, who knows. :sad.gif:

Leveling? Meh, I don't care.
Hunger? Alright, this sounds fun!
Permadeath? This sound--WHAT?!
Please make permadeath togglable, It'll ruin EVERYTHING for me! Especially in the anarchy server I play, in which I die 40% of the time.
Quote from Pirate_Ray
ok so if i understand permadeath means when you die you loose all of your gear as normal but also all your exp and lvls nothing else, at least according to the pc gamer article.
sorry, i paniced by seeing permadeath...
Quote from Scorflane
But what about those who just wanna build i get that it will be fun but hunger will become a real trouble for building massive structures and having to plan it and have to keep check of your hunger "bar" but EXP sounds awesome even though i am wimpy and run away from the MONSTERS

Wow.. I'm disappointed in all of the people who are writing on this thread.
PLEASE READ MORE BEFORE YOU POST
Anyone who knows anything about the Adventure mode should understand it is just that.. a SEPARATE GAME MODE.
THIS WILL NOT AFFECT ALL YOUR SAVES
It is a separate game mode, just like survival is serpate from creative or classic. Do you think everyone that played creative started to complain like "OMG Notch you're adding health? What? Mobs? THIS IS MADNESS!" "Minecraft isn't a RPG! Don't add crafting and monsters this is dumb! PETITION AGAINST IT!!"
Of course not... this is just a different direction. The hunger and experience/leveling will probably be a part of the "Hardcore" or "Realistic Modes" that may include Perma-death. So please stop your senseless complaints about "OMG WE NEED TO MOD THIS OUT"... It's OBVIOUSLY going to be a separate mode, so just calm down kids!!
Quote from enderoflife
if anyone followed the link to pc gamer i don't see permadeath anywhere. you lose xp and levels that's it i think.
Quote from Touko1
There should be 3 toggleable modes:
Hardcore-Permadeath
Realistic-Hunger
Leveling-Xp and stuff

Permadeath = You die and you die for good. Game over. Delete your world and make another.

not practical at all accept for the "special items" in the real world and it adds new challenges and crafting abilities
0
idea 1: coat the items in redstone, like i said with the special items, with only tools and whips able to be used while coated.
idea 2: redstone blocks out of 4/9 redstone
idea 3: redstone clay by using a furnace to make soft redstone tools and use the furnace again for redstone bricks/ingots to make hard redstone tools
and yes, there will be sand pickaxes.

Thread "discontinued" unless I think of something I MUST see in Minecraft. I will RARELY post ideas I don't care about much from now on. I will still check back to see the comments now and then.
This thread shows horrors out of the depths of my diseased imagination, so please don't be rude. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is always welcome :smile.gif:.
Overhaul Ideas
Nether Residence
Step 1: Create a netherstone pressure plate and die while on top of it(best way is to connect to arrow filled dispenser). This will make you respawn in the nether as a soul( )it uses a seperate texture from the one uploaded to minecraft.net. If this becomes official, there will probably be an option for that too. It uses a a completely white texture, except the head accessory has no edges and has blue eyes, and the legs move together and angle backward when moving, looking like a triangle. You will spawn next to a portal. (if none exist, than you hacked to get the netherstone pressure plate and you're a loser. And also you'll just respawn normally.) If you had some thing with you when you committed suicide, it will just stay there like normal and disappear eventually(and waste you're arrows in the dispenser). Once in the nether, you will discover 2 more creatures: souls and soul drivers. Souls use the same texture as you and are passive. Souls occasionally have redstone swords, and when they do, they will attack soul drivers. Soul drivers carry redstone whips. They are made by making whips with string/leather and then surrounding them in the crafting table with 8 redstone. They will fight back against attacking souls and sometimes attack for no reason. You cannot see souls/soul drivers unless you are a soul. Normal enemies can't see you(besides ghasts zombie pigmen, but they don't attack you), but you can hurt them with redstone things. You can go into chests, but you can only touch items made with redstone. The only exceptions are that you can use (but not carry in your inventory) crafting benches and chests and that you can't go through objects (but you can go through water and lava without damage or water flow). If in the normal world, you can kill things and collect their spirits. These souls are used to create soul sand and spawners ( )
where = soul
You can also see rogue souls in the normal world that are just like the ones in the nether but they give you special items. Some aren't redstone, in which case they're rapped in it and you have to put it in a chest and turn normal to place it in a crafting bench. Redstone rapped items aren't stackable and 8 redstone are left in the crafting bench when you take the item away. You can also see slave drivers in dungeons whipping the spawner. If you kill it, the spawner stops. You can whip a spawner to make it spawn regardless of light. to turn normal, get yourself killed by a soul driver.
ALSO: to make redstone tools, put the tool in the center of the crafting table and surround it with 8 redstone, and to make it normal as not to waste redstone in the real world by losing it, place it in the table to get 8 redstone back and the tool will be left on the table
Minercycles
First: craft a minecart; second: craft a wheel using the FORMER compass recipe(it would then be changed to iron surrounding a redstone magnet, or something along those lines); third: put them together with a forge...
=wheel
=minecart
... and you get a minercycle [which is essentially a minecart with a steering wheel ]!! You drive it like any other racing game, with different speed on different materials(which i will list later cause i want to eat food), and no need for tracks. (but if you do go on on, standard powered minecart rules apply, but it doesn't halt when it leaves the track)
ALSO: if you hit and kill(different speeds have different damage)a creeper(which won't want to hug you while you're in a minercycle), it has a 1 in 8 chance of dropping one of YET ANOTHER new set of records!!
Naturally Disastrous Drizzle
Minecraft isn't dangerous or scary anymore. During storms, sure, monsters can spawn, but they aren't all that common. You'll likely just see rain, which isn't very deadly, just prevents monsters from bursting into flames, thus only a problem in the morning. Now, what if rain were more realistic? Wood rotting, iron rusting, etc... Your house would gradually become weaker. Eventually, perhaps weak enough for a zombie to burst through? You would have to continuously improve and repair your home. Yeah, it'd be a pain in the ass, but that's the point, right? Isn't that why so many people are hating on the charcoal idea? I mean i don't necessarily agree with Notch's lanterns, but wood is an infinite material if you replant your trees, and the material wouldn't become weak instantly. it would be a gradual occurrence, and only occur during storms or when underwater (in which case you'd only have to worry about flooding anyway) so i believe this is a fair idea for bringing back the fun in minecraft, especially rp servers. For all of you wondering about dirt and sand, sand would become STRONGER, and dirt would become wet and zombies could tear it out of the way.
ALSO:: it would work on tools, armor, and items as well, so watch out!
Mob Ideas
Arming the Soldiers of Love
The tragic story of the creeper: Once upon a time there was a creeper who wanted love and hugs. Noticing a friendly miner, he went up to hug him. At that point, the creeper realized he had no arms. Angrily, he exploded. And that is the reason why the creepers need arms! You make the arms with bones, pig meat, light green dye, and cow skin. To get it onto a creeper, you must right click it at just the right second. This may not make much sense, but who cares? THIS IS MINECRAFT! In world where creepers get hugs and you have walls for your home, everyone can live happily ever after (IF you're able to get enough skeleton bones, heh heh heh).
ALSO: grateful creepers give you cake :smile.gif:
Mob Idea: Hiders
Similar to creepers, these creatures take the colors of the block it spawns on. They are small in stature, spawn at any light, and won't try and hug you: they're too shy for that! If it sees you or any other creatures, it will stop moving. There is the possibility that other monsters will attack it(but creepers won't explode). If attacked by anything other then a creeper, it will run full pelt for the hills. When you kill it, it drops cammo-colored cloth. You can create camouflage that won't protect you, but you will have to get closer to an enemy to make it attack you.
ALSO: if killed by a skeleton, which is even HARDER to do then make one kill a creeper since it runs fast after the first attack, it will drop a record, like creepers, but these records have different music on them. (possibility that the record depends on current block traits) AND THEY'RE ADORABLE
Small Ideas
METAL POLES ALREADY!!!
I want some metal poles! I'm done with fences!
ALSO:: These would act similarly to a lightning rod, and be used to power redstone instead of "magically lit" redstone torches
???
Well, since my brother has already started making the mod, I guess it'll just be a secret for now :wink.gif:
I have many more ideas, but I started this thread too late and had too many to write down without getting bored :tongue.gif: Also I keep forgetting them XD

Because They Need The Love
Here's a riddle for you: A creeper comes up by surprise. You scream, startled and jump backwards. You know that the creeper will try to hug you, realize it doesn't have arms, become angry, and blow you up. What do you do? If you answered give it a hug, or something similar, you may may be right for Lend-An-Arm Foundation!
The creepers have been shunned from society, and they have no arms. They deserve the care that we intend to give them. Whoever can start a fast pvp server, please do, post it here, and if I can log onto it successfully and it maintains the following rules, it will become the foundation's server.
Server Rules (once we have one. READ ALL ASPECTS!!!)
1: NO GRIEFING!!! You cannot grief other buildings or the environment. The only parts of the environment you can take down are trees. If you wish to build a home, be sure it doesn't impede too much on the environment. Disregarding any and all aspects can lead to permanent and temporary banning.
2: NO CREEPER KILLING!!! Whomever is caught fighting creepers will be PERMANENTLY BANNED!!! Just run away or get to a place where you can safely type a command that will respawn you or bring you home.
3: NO HUMANS!!! YOU ARE A CREEPER. LOOK LIKE ONE. You may give yourself clothes and such, but you must look like a creeper. If you are new the server, then you may disregard this until you have a skin. If it's a glitch that you're skin won't work, type it. Most likely minecraft.net is down or slow. This rule will not get you banned, but people will be permitted to attack you if you PURPOSELY have a non-creeper skin.
4: NO STREET FIGHTING!!! You may not fight other players outside of an arena besides for reasons involving rule 3. You will be temporarily or permanently banned. If accidental, there will be no punishment(if proved innocent by the courthouse consisting of mods/admins).
5: NO TAKING ITEMS OR ENTERING OTHERS HOMES W/OUT PERMISSION!!!
So if you see a creeper dungeon, mark it with something, tell someone, whatever, but leave it be. Do not steal their possesions. Other monsters(besides slimes) shall be massacred.
ALSO: If someone with a chance of getting to Notch could ask him to add a hug button to stop creepers from causing pain, or a false arm recipe to attatch to creepers to make them hug instead of explode, that would be great!
