Current EULA doesn't stop a child from stealing parents money and donating $500 for special effects.
Minecraft servers is what kept Minecraft fresh, true vanilla is tired and dead. Very small percentage still play it.
There are 2 real traffic sources that kept Minecraft going (YouTube & Servers) everything else is just a passive snowball effect.
YouTubers spread the word and servers kept Minecraft fresh for all these years.
If Mojang is actually going to enforce the EULA... quality developers and entrepreneurs will be much less likely to invest time and money into new multiplayer servers and game development if they don’t think they will have the same chance to get paid to do this full time.
have you even read the old eula?
So the one major rule is that (unless we specifically agree it – such as in brand and asset usage guidelines) you must not:
give copies of our Game to anyone else;
make commercial use of anything we‘ve made;
try to make money from anything we‘ve made; or
let other people get access to anything we‘ve made in a way that is unfair or unreasonable.
nobody was even supposed to make money off of minecraft in the beginning anyway... the only exception is youtube videos... derp..
I'd like to add the 1.6.4 version of your mod to my modpack, Minecraft in Armidan, the Rise of Iniquix. I see no official license or permission statement in the OP. I'm on 1.6.4 because the contest I'm entering, JamPacked, depends on a mod, Hardcore Questing Mode, that has yet to update to 1.7. Something to think about, or just implement Apache, LPGL, or BSD if you prefer.
i don't think anybody that runs a "pay 2 win" server, or are running a server store or something like that has realized that according to the old eula, the ONLY way you could make money off of minecraft, is youtube videos, that's it..
Only thing I have to say is... this just crossed the line and I think its time for the minecraft community to stand up and make a change. In my opinion ever since Notch or Markus left well... minecraft has been going down hill... the new rabbit mobs for 1 look stupid. The EULA is going to get tons of good servers shut down and players are going to be ticked because Im aware of players who have spent $200 on a single server donation (That's insane but they have).
I get how its not legally supposed to be aloud but how many people are really going to just donate without getting rewarded? HARLDY ANYONE!!! Servers will go down, minecraft will get boring, it will ruin the minecraft multiplayer that my self and a lot of other individuals have grown to love. When I herd jeb was taking over... I could've cried my eyes out. Herd about the EULA.... yep they took it to far.
There's 2 ways this will go, Calm and go over easy (At this rate... doubt it). The other way is how I see it and honestly hope it goes, minecraft community protests and gets the game back how its met to be. They can change these failure rules its just not going to work. The EULA is a BAD idea and I hope that some miracle happens that makes it just not happen.
Thanks for reading

so you think servers not being able to sell OP kits is a bad thing?
I would love to see a highly optimized version of MC running a highly optimized Sonic Shaders mod.
Other things I think that should be added to the vanilla game are more natural ambient noises like wind and such and seasonal changes. I also like the moving foliage mod...makes the world alittle more alive.
Mojang? It's the ignorant Kids and Server owners (not all server owners) that don't care.
When You bought Minecraft, did you even read all the legal documents? or did you just check the "I have read and accepted the terms and conditions" button just because you wanted to play the game already.
Note: This was introduced when Minecraft Officially released Minecraft 1.0.0, It was updated on December 11, 2013
First of All: This was compliant the day minecraft was out of beta, and was a full game.
Second of All: Servers and Kids have both ignored these conditions, and had invented ranks/perks for people to fund their servers when specifically stated: "You may not make money off anything we made."
Third of All: Servers are still defiant, selling ranks on their servers, expecting nothing to happen to them at all.
so pretty much, it's still, and ALWAYS HAS BEEN illegal to make money off of minecraft, except for youtube videos?
I'm going to assume that the reason the hotfix is taking a while to come out is because of all the coding that is going into the companions. Would my assumption be correct?
that, and the new dungeon system, and the nerfing of the zephyrs, and all of the other bug fixes.

Doubtful. Their issue isn't with plugins...it's the monetization of the game itself, although they at least still give servers a way to make money, even though it will probably bring in less income but oh well.
how about they make it so that servers are required to give any money leftover from paying the cost of the server to mojang?

i think it's because with 1.8 being almost here, updating to 1.7 would be pointless, and 1.8 is possibly going to be even bigger of an update than 1.7

i think the only way you can profit from servers now, is advertisements or by selling cosmetic items.
