But you have to admit, it would be funny as hell.Quote from jakshad
Amnesia takes too long to get to any good parts, battlefield three would be lame, minecraft sounds about right

It's balanced because ender chests were way op before. They made it so with just 1 of them you could double your inventory space and never lose you valuable stuff. Now players are encoruaged to use the chests in the way they were always intended. And what's the problem? Now maybe you'll have to think about where you're going to put the chest rather than just randomly dumping it somewhere. And it's supposed to be a difficult to obtain, late-game item; if you're strong enough to obtain the materials required for the chest then you should have enough xp levels to get a silk touch pick, especially under the new enchantment revisions that make it far easier to get top level enchantments. Seems to me you're just moaning because this adds a bit of thought and challenge to the gameplay and you can't handle that.
It was my understanding that breaking the only ender chest would also destroy any items left in it. I must have been misread. I see the potential issue. -

How? The ender eyes are already difficult to obtain, and you need at least 2 of them in order to make the chest useful. Now we lose the the eye all together when we break it. And not everyone has mob grinders.
Forcing players to use enchantments is NOT good gameplay. -

Probably to prevent people from making the Ender Chest too easily every single time, considering how they keep items safe from anything. They are more of an emergency storage rather than place all your items in it and drag them anywhere you want and remove the need for a home base.
The chest has a very limited number of slots, so packing around a whole base is hardly an issue. Having the materials for crafting the minimum requires 2 chests to make use of the feature is already a difficult task, and having the chests break into items rather then the chest itself is a huge blow to the whole mechanic.
People will always abuse things, so its stupid to castrate those that don't just because some people do.

Am I the only one who doesn't download the snapshots? I'm waiting for the official 1.3 to come out =) ... Gratification delay ftw. I'm going to have so much fun with all the new stuff in my world.
Snapshots are for testing. So if you have no desire to test, then they are not for you. simple as that. -
Jun 14, 2012echonite posted a message on Snapshot 12w24a Available for Testing!I like that ender chests are now per player, but why do they break into 8 obsidian? We lose an eye AND have to recraft it. Its already very difficult to make 2 of them to be able to take advantage of them.Posted in: News

Maybe you should join the QA team over at Bethesda Softworks. I hear they need inept testers like yourself.
Also, Ive noticed that the map seems to be rotated, so that what looks like west on the map is actually north in the world. This was around before 1.2, so I was just curious if there is some reason for that?

Nice... now all I need is a mod to make empty mine carts and storage carts to drift like they do when the player is in them and I will be set for life.

Then be more specific next time?

Has anyone created a mod that makes all minecarts drift like they do when the player is in them? It would be really nice to make use of storage carts, but id they don't drift worth beans, then its rather pointless.
Sorry if this has already been asked/made.
Thanks for your time and understanding that I R Noob.

Edit: Ok, here it is.
Some things to note. You will start out outside my main building. Check out the grounds before heading up into my fortress or going on the cart track. It is also advised yo go to the fort first before the cart.
To get the cart started, just simply bump up against the back end of it to get it going, then hop in. If you miss the cart, the boosters take it prty far so keep that in mind.
When traveling down the track, you will see my giant compass and tower on the right. The giant compass is for direction when rendering my map via cartograph. You can stop if you want to check out the tower, but trust me when i say there is nothing in there except a lot of stairs and an unimpressive view. The structure by the tracks at the tower was my WIP station so i could stop there but I am canceling that.
In the mine, I have a system for easy direction. Each T junction has obviously 2 paths, left or right, which I have numbered 1 is right, 2 is left. It is overall unimpressive, but if you want to get to the deepest part of my mine, head down 1-2-1. To get out, just head to a junction and face away from the flowers.
To make the return trip out of the mine, just push the cart to get it started and hop in. The boosters will take care of the rest.
