posted a message on I think I'm getting bored with minecraft
Minecraft (the ultimate sandbox game as admitted by almost everyone i talked to) is only limited by your imagination!

try building the following that I have in our private server:

-Dwarven city with grand hall and including 5 different ravines (3 intersect, coolest thing ever) full of dwarven structures and sweet mines
-Elven forest with treehouses and elder trees and stuff
-7 different walled cities with thriving npc's
-grand castle with huge amounts of glory and grandeur, looks amazing from all angles, overlooking a lake in a nice vally
-road system with bridges without ruining the awesome landscape (current biomes a million times better than the crappy random old land generation system!!)
-secret bases fully automated with redstone bay windows and redstone secret rooms everywhere
-dungeons built for adventuring that are extremely dangourous and yeild exelent rewards if you do!
    -massive structures built:
-huge roman style stadium for spleef, fights, and many events
    -courthouse and law system
-massive trading outpost with many levels and a fair system for both visitors and regulars
-many functioning cities including a huge capitol with every sort of structure you woul imagine in a midevil fantasy setting!
-dungeons incorperating many (4 or 5) different natural mob dungeons and strongholds at the end. not very well lit and the
difficulty setting of them is well beyond what most people claim "minecraft" is (people without much ingenuity and imagination)
-huge bustling inns/taverns and other social structures
    -pirate cove
    -hard to reach library/temple
-amazing secret with well written tomes all over the land hidden of the history of the land
    -farming village with every conveinience
-zoo with natural rare animals (painfully collected with many hours of pateince) including a natural pink sheep, untamed wolves, and
    every other minecraft speices.
-Massive city with districts/mansions/warehouses and docks/slums/ middle class, etc
-fantastic castle with secrets/ security, and awesome features with an automated full pyramid after killing a legit vanilla wither!
-many of these features are located in our grand capitol city with great walls/capitol buildings/railway system/ alienage(for npc's in
case they die off) library/mage school complete with a conservatory on the second level demontrating all the possible plants in
    vanilla minecraft.

This game is very fun with a full imagination especially when using survival imo!!!

Everything was build in 100% survival and everything was built not only for looks but for maximum functionality in mind as well!!!!

p.s. oh ya, did i mention, 100% vanilla survival and still more creative and amazing then most other worlds I have visited!

posted a message on The one question that has haunted me since I bought Minecraft.
why do you need so many doors? i usually just carry a stack of wood and if i need a wooden door i make it. signs on the other hand would be nice.

OK did you not under stand what this guy just said "Dungeon mode should be in the near future. INSTEAD of creative, survival, and hardcore. instead as in it wont be there any more, so yes some one did say he wanted the current modes completely disabled.
secondly and most importantly i im not new to minecraft i have had it since 1.5 so sir please do not make assumptions on things you don't know about because you come off as a jerk when you do this.

Could be possible he meant "in addition to the other modes" and it didnt come out right and forgot a word, for example "instead of just creative, survival, and hardcore."

Don't know. But for a possible 1.2.5 I wish a texture update for stairs, slabs and fenses, to the actual different wooden planks.

Yes! We need different slabs for fireproofing and durability benefits over regular wood planks!

posted a message on Anyone Miss Smaller Caves?
I really like plentiful caves! Digging in the ground at any given point without caves is boring as H**l. Caves, ravines, mineshafts, and strongholds are the only thing that is fun to do underground, so why would we want less of them?? From a builders perspective, caves and the like are good, and there is no reason to want less of them imo.

Wait, so because I dislike chunk borders, and the task of smoothing them out doesn't bother me, I'm a maniac?

Did you even read what you typed? Minecraft means something different to everyone dude, and not everyone plays like you do. Try pulling yourself out of your own perspective for a change.

If there is one thing I have learned about these forums or this game is that people dont seem to understand that there are many different play styles with many different priorities. They put their own veiw of how minecraft should be played at the front governing all their comments and condemn those who play otherwise. Some of the people in this thread are a classic example!

This has absolutely nothing to do with playing a game in your own way and has everything to do with taking a game for more than what it is, a game. To let something designed for recreation control and bother you so much is plain unhealthy, there's no other way to describe it.

And yes I have played save-state games and not saved for a long period of time then died and had to restart from very far back. Yes I have gotten angry and annoyed and taken a break from it, but I never take it to an unhealthy level and rage about it. Why would I have paid money for a game only to get pissed and never play it again? That is a waste of money.

What you are describing is the inability to control one's emotions and if you don't call that unhealthy then I'd sure like to know what you call it.

While it's obvious you were attempting to make fun of me all you really accomplished was show that my advice was sound. I said if the game was bothering them that much they should take a break which is exactly what you did. Kudos to you for being logical. ;)

Who is getting pissed and raging? and who is lacking control of their emotions? All I said was to explain how some people whould rather move on and do other things than play a game that in a sense breaks their save files. I never said anything about raging, or hating the game, or stomping my feet and yelling, lol, you seem to be the one getting pissed. If this forum is doing this to you maybe you should take a break, its really not healthy man!

This has everything to do with how you play the game, and the only thing you are doing is showing your ignorance to other play styles. The options are to a) live without updates which bring important bug fixes, B ) have their terrain screwed up which is vital to their play style, or c) start all those hundreds of hours over again and rebuild in a new world. To some people it is simply worth it and quit the game and appreciate the fun that they have already enjoyed and move on to things that wont waste time down the road with another terrain update.

I think at some point you have to step back from the situation and realize that the level of attachment to a game you are describing is unhealthy. If having to restart a game is reason enough to never play it ever again then perhaps it's time for a break from gaming in general?

Actually buddy, you got it backwards. Leaving a game rather than doing everything over again is a more healthy way to approach it than the other way around. You are forgetting people play sandbox games for different reasons and in different ways. The way we play, building a thriving world with towns and buildings and road systems, doing everything over again would require a huge and unhealthy investment of time. Having to live with huge chunk errors while trying to build a believable world with a nice landscape is also hard to ignore, so some choose to spend their time elsewere, tell me how that is unhealthy?

Have you never played a save based game and gone for awhile without saving and something happens causing you to have to re-play hours and hours worth of progress? When this happens have you ever just said "srew it" and stopped playing? that is the same thing that is going on here.

The fact is: depending on your style of playing this sandbox game, this could break the game for you. and dont try to tell someone to just play it differently, not everyone gets enjoyment out of a game the same ways. And no, its not about unhealthy habits.

posted a message on Gold Uses
If you build extensive minetracks using power rails then Gold is very valuable and useful! i have all my cities and bases connected with an underground minetrack and i have used a ton of gold and have had many a gold shortage! Lots of people use minetracks from what i read and experiance from other servers, so gold does have a very important use.
