Agreed. There are people out there that have built LIVES off these large servers. Their job is to just maintain their server because they get so much money from "donations." In fact, I wouldn't even call it donations if they're making actual profit. I think that any money given by players should be used to pay for server hosting, not for keeping food on the table.
we should make our own server. One that is fair for the players. As far as it being vanilla, I think there should be a balance. Plugins can enhance the game tremendously but it shouldn't just revolve entirely around pvp or minigames. Nothing is really stopping us from bringing back the adventure and spirit to minecraft servers.
Yes. The 1.8 update coming out tomorrow gives a great opportunity to create some new things without all the extra added stuff.

If feel like the publicization of Minecraft has greatly affected how they function and the content they contain. The game used to be all about survival and creative and working together for a common goal. Now, servers are huge, have heavily modded plugins, and don't really use vanilla Minecraft too much anymore. Servers like the Hive, Mineplex, Uberminecraft etc. have almost fully eliminated vanilla Minecraft to create "minigames" like Survival Games and Capture the Flag. Now, don't get me wrong, these games are pretty fun at times, but it seems like most servers these days are trying to manipulate what they do. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I feel like some people now a days buy Minecraft to PvP to play on large servers on the Hive, not actually check out what vanilla Minecraft has in store.
And also, the donation and "pay to win" thing was ridiculous, but being a former server owner myself, I do know how expensive servers are. At first, I really didn't see why Mojang insisted on changing it so donations were prevented, but now I see where they are coming from. They want to detract players from fixed advantages received by donating money and actually get people to see what a tiny bit of dedication and exploration can do for them.

Why should we pick you: You should pick me for me because I have been a guard before on lockdown over a year ago So i have experience as staff on lockdown, On other servers I have Been a Staff many times So i'm used to the background of being in a role of responsibility and trust. Now In lockdown I have been in the environment of prison servers for quiet some time So i know how to deal with people In a position of a guard i know what to in a any situation that is under my power to control If i cannot control the situation I will pass it on to my Upper Guard/and or Administrators, With things like Trolls Trying to get reactions out of me/ others i will simply Pay not attention unless it gets to the point where it becomes harassment i will hand it up to someone that can handle it. Another reason of why i am a perfect candidate for the guard position is because I am a nice guy I like to talk and have fun with other players I know the difference between A joke and (cant think of the word lol) not a joke and will handle the problem accordingly. Almost finally, I am a great pvper i almost never lose in pvp and as a guard thats a valuable thing You cant be a bad pvper and be a guard it just isnt compatible. Lastly i am loyal/Responsible I would never do anything to make you no longer trust me think i will back stab you harm you anything that you you put me up too you can count on me to get it done or (metaphorically) die trying You can trust that i will not give out guard kits or abuse, pvp for no reason, anything of that nature (I hope you read through that all )
What makes you different than other applicants? I am creative and fun, Story time! so a long time ago there was two animals that were friends a hedgehog and a hamster They were very good friends they both lived in the forest and in the same hole! So one night i was raining and a panda came by and offered them a shelter in the tree that the panda lived in they thought about it and graciously accepted the offer, On the way to the tree the panda realized she was hungry she thought hmm a hamster and a hedgehog that might be good but the hedgehog could be spikey, So she decided to try to talk the BEAR whos name was GUMMY. But he didnt have any food while the panda was going to meet the hamster and the hedgehog at the tree once there the 2 animals asked the panda "whats your name"? The panda replied " Ashley". The hamster and the hedgehog looked at the panda and said thats a peculiar name for a panda but they wernt interested in that they wanted shelter so they went in the tree and went to sleep, while they were sleeping Ashley was still hungry and decided she couldn't wait any longer and went to go eat them as she approached them she stepped ona twig and woke them up, right after the hamster and hedgehog fell down off the tree and merged together to make HAMSTERHEDGEHOG!!!! Seeing this ashley was disappointed this wouldnt be enough to feed her so she went on to get food that gummy had just scavenged and went on her way and hamsterhedgehog decided it would be ok to be a mutant now and lived for around 1 month. ( because well thats a bad thing if you get smashed together with something else XD ) Anyhow thats the end i hope you enjoyed the story and get all the references I hope you read and enjoy my app Have a great day

I dug up this picture from when I reported someone for racism a looooong time ago. That would be why I'm saying "Shut Up" to the offender ;P
Once I was in a singleplayer world and was being chased by a creeper. I ran a different direction but ANOTHER creeper came from that direction. So I ran to the left from that creeper and a 3RD creeper came from there. I quickly turned and made it back to my house without any of the creepers getting me.
I'm sure you guys have had cool moments too. What's your most badass moment in minecraft?

I do not like to spawn in Jungle Biomes. I always get stuck in the trees and its hard to find my way out! Ugh! What do you guys think are the most annoying things in minecraft?
