Thirty-nine people voted yes. In a nutshell, this would leave hollow mountains of bedrock, after the volcanoes stop shooting lava and exploding rocks that is surely going to kill computers.

    Wow.

The idea of volcanoes in Minecraft is pretty cool but I think this topic did it all wrong.

Ishould have been waaay more specific lava sources spring up on the mountian with tnt every now and again like 1 boom every cycle and .25% misspell

I'm sure some of it might have been inspired by that if enough people whined to Notch and then Jeb about it. But my main question is, why should we care? What is the purpose of this topic?

I think the post speaks for itself but if you don't have time to read it here http://davidr64.tumb...d-how-to-fix-it

Then I'll post some of it here:

1.The blue spider:A spider, for example, with glowing purple eyes and a sickly, pale grey skin instead of black would be scary to encounter. It could have double the jump distance, and it could poison the things it bites. Poison could act like short-lived fire, damaging the player periodically until the poison has consumed an extra 2 or 3 hearts in addition to the damage it dealt with its attack. An even more fun idea would be that if the player is wearing iron armor or better, the poison effect won’t apply (the fangs can’t get through)
The spider is blue in game but the poison aspect is there
    and then there is this

:Now what if these spiders only spawned deep underground,

    And this:
All Mojang would have to do is make a new mob out of a reskinned spider, give it spawn rules (could use the slime’s spawn rules, except just make it spawn more frequently), code in some poison damage...

    And this:
Maybe the dark zombies don’t drop feathers, but instead could have a chance of dropping iron ore. ”What?! Iron ore should only be mined!” some people may cry. But remember, I’m talking about improving this game’s adventuring aspect, and adventurers are not always particularly fond of mining expeditions. Having the dark zombies drop iron ore (not iron INGOTS, but just the ore) would give adventuring players a way to recover some of their lost resources, too, without having to slow down their fun with a mining run...

Seems like the armour and sword aspect?
    This:
Minecraft already has books, paper, and magical redstone in place. How about a new type of craftable item: spellbooks? What if you could combine a normal book with some redstone dust and some other item to create single-use spells? A normal book, some redstone dust, and a redstone torch, for example, could create a Fireball spellbook. The spellbook could then go in the player’s hotbar, like any other item, and when you selected and right-clicked it would consume the book (just one use per book!) and launch a fireball up to 100 squares. The fireball could behave like a ghast’s normal attack, except thrown by the player, and when it strikes enemies it could deal heavy damage and set aflame any enemies in its blast radius, but not directly hit by it...
Seems like the fire charge or enchantment table to me
    And this:
craftable Haste spell (possibly created by combining a magical book, a pair of chainmail or leather boots, and sulphur) to give the player double movement speed..
    Swiftness potion
    AAAnd:
And maybe you could create a Regeneration spellbook that would give the player a slow, steady health regeneration for a full game day, lessening the need to carry food. But the regeneration should be very slow, like half a heart every 8-10 seconds, so as not to ELIMINATE the need to carry food. (And yes, just because I know I’m going to get someone spouting, “just turn it to Peaceful,” I know Peaceful mode has this effect. But not everybody likes switching their game to Peaceful when things get rough. That gets boring very quickly.)
    Regeneration potion

Thats pretty much it also DO NOT! mention anything here to Notch Jeb or anyone else!
    ...Why? oh this:
I'm going to do it my way, not just going through items in a list someone else wrote. There is a plan, somewhere in there! points at head
Oh my mymym look a bit further down the list there:
Why not add shocking electric creepers or shadow/ fire demons?like they attack when ur backs turned caused they are scared or something

The new sandstone could be used t with desert wells as entrances to dragon lairs maybe you need a dragon egg to toss in to open a portal or door? Perhaps dragon eggs teleport to them when near and hit?Not sure how to make it minecraftish.
Edit:I didn't want to do this but....

In the newest minecraft update(1.2.3) 3 new textures were added 1 can be placed the other two(The sandstone) cannot I think that they could be used with sandstone wells in deserts to enter a dungeon of some sort that would lead to a red dragon/Or loot of some type.Because I think minecraft should be VERY hard I think the olny way to get into these should be either.Going into the end and beating the enderdragon then taking the egg to a well as offering to open a portal or door, or tossing a diamond blokc or something similar in.The door itself could be a bedrock door and the room surrounded by bedrock or some new hard stone like the new sandstone textures but unbreakable. The dragon itself could be protected by mummies OR the mummy could be the boss maybe you have to kill the mummy to get to the end instead of going to the end first(It's logical) For example :
Jon has the ender eyes needed to open the end portal BUT when he gets close to the portal a message appears:Dark forces bar the way...e
so Jon has to kill the three bosses to even get in the end such as the Mummy,Giant, and HUGE slime
After killing the huge slime by crafting a slimeblock and the giant by saving a village from siege the tomb of the mummy can be opened maybe...The mummy is wrapped in paper but it's dusty and he has white eyes so Jon kills the mummy and goes to the end portal this time when he gets close the message:You sense a dark aura nearby...
So he places the eyes Makes a My God, it's full of stars joke and gets to the end and kills the enderdragon takes the egg and jumps through the portal. Then get's to the overworld and looks in the sky 3-4 red dragons shoot out of the enderdragon egg revealing it was really a prison and the enderdragon was feeding off of the other dragons energy.
    Jon says...
THAT WAS BLOODY AWESOME I MEAN THE...AND THE....WITH THE...
    THAT
    WAS
    AWESOME

    Everyones happy...except the enderdragon....andthe mummy....and giant....and slime...and the endermen due to losing they're god...and the blazes...and(Someone yell's: ENOUGH)

Yes, it does, but it doesn't mean every volcano should be a dragon's lair. Maybe, it should be like 1-5% of all volcanoes. To be fair, your question asks "Should volcanoes be added (to Minecraft)," not "Should volcanoes be added to Minecraft and all or a select few should also be dragon's lairs." Most of the people that voted, probably were leaning towards the earlier. They just want volcanoes, not Dragon Lairs, maybe not even constantly active volcanoes.

Personally, I'd like to see some volcanoes be active, while others are not. Active volcanoes would only make up 25-30% of the Volcano biome. The rest would be either dormant or Semi-Active (if that's possible to code). Dormant doesn't mean completely safe by the way. There could still be residual lava/ lava flows, inside the cone and maybe Dragon's Lairs aren't limited to active volcanoes. I'd imagine lava pools would be far more common in the volcano biome in general, thus making it a dangerous, albeit rewarding place to mine. Sure, you might hit diamond much closer to surface or even in the remnants of a volcano, but then there's the active cones, increased lava flows, and possibly even a new threat that could be added. (if done right and if possible) (Steam/ ash/ pyroclastic material, that randomly shoot up at you if accidentally mine in bad a spot.)

    agree slightly

That's for advanced redstone users. You could also just place torches on the ground to power a 9x9 area centered around the torch. Or put pressure plates on every spot of the floor. But unless you have some redstone wiring hooked up you won't be able to turn it off remotely.

I don't know what to think. A volcano would add an interesting change to the mix, I honestly do not want to run into volcanoes in MineCraft. Especially ones with dragons.

Dragons+volcanoes=bad that seems like the perfect way to add them?

I will take the Volcano. You can keep the Dragon. :wink.gif:

Dragon Lairs sound interesting, but in my opinion it would be better if they spawned randomly on high places like Mountains and Volcanos, but not in every single Volcano or mountain. Also i expect a REAL "treasure" and an epic fight with the dragon. Or maybe he might be tamed and become good so you can ride him. But of course this will have to be a super hard task.

Volcano Biomes now will be interesting because it would be a challenge to survive in them. And also non-renewable materials will become renewable. Furthermore, a Volcano Biome would provide an opportunity for other stuff to be added.

    ... INDEED!
