Several piston traps and doors, with lockable and disarming features. Plus a toggle piston door without levers (except for the lock).
Pretty inept at the more complex stuff, and never seeing myself making computers or anything with it. However, I'll be happy when I make my first flush-walled piston door.

Spiders only need a 1x1 space. I didn't use a spawner egg or anything. Completely natural spawn.
True, a spider can spawn on a block like that. It's got open space all around it, making it a viable location.
However, they won't spawn in a 1 wide hallway.
Feb 6, 2012defiler86 posted a message on Putting together a bartering guide, and need your help!Bartering is a system devised from the supply and demand for the two individual in trade. Example, diamonds could have less worth than iron for certain individuals whom may be making minecart system. Or wood have greater demand in plains or desert biomes.Posted in: Survival Mode
However, with the introduction of gold nuggets (which can be used as currency) can be a staple means of currency in a server and a broker can dedicate a set buy/sell price for materials based on the quantity in the server. If diamonds are scarce, price is high. If pork (or pigs) are rare, could be worth more than diamonds.
Economy in minecraft is a server per server basis. However, I prefer seeing bartering and trade in RP servers, it really creates a feel to a RP server. :3

I was thinking that is the case as well. But somethings are contradicting that as well, I remember seeing more mobs in more open part of caves than the narrower portions.Quote from FIRINMEHLAZOR
It is true. The mobs need space to spawn, so their character models call for a little bit of area around them to be created. However, they can wander into 1 block wide areas, unless it's a spider or a slime that is wider than 1 block.
I rarely see mobs in narrow areas (like branch mines), and only think that the mobs find there way into them from the larger main halls of my mines. So, sometimes, I think the code first looks for larger open areas to spawn before the smaller narrow ares. :\Quote from Aiyoki
Let's go with dimensions Height-x-Width
Skeletons = 2x1
Zombies = 2x1
Creepers = 2x1
Spiders = 1x2
Enderman = 3x1
So essentially a 2x1 space can spawn zombies skeletons and creepers but not spiders or endermen
a 2x2 area would allow spiders to also spawn and a place with a 3 tall hallway will allow endermen to spawn.
Additionally mobs cannot spawn on halfblocks that are not stacked or stairs.
( Aiyoki... you avatar is sickeningly adorable. x3 )
I remember seeing a thread about mob spawning science, but that was around 1.4 beta or so. Any one know if any such threads still exist? <.<
Feb 1, 2012Best means for diamond mining is caving. Find a cave at a low level, and search throughout it. Besides caving, any mining technique will do. Either way, its still a timely operation till you get a nice stack of diamonds.Posted in: Survival Mode
With a pickax with Fortune enchantment speeds the process up a lot.

also do i need to stay in the nether for it to grow or can i go to the over world
You have to stay in the nether for it to grow.
I suggest either going AFK or go Blaze/Ghast hunting

Update my post after reading the wiki a bit more.
"In the Nether, this rule doesn't apply. However, due to a bug, the rule does apply if the Nether Wart is planted any distance directly below a natural vein of glowstone or a lava source block. "
Double check your ceiling, or if not, put all the warts in a little greenhouse.
Feb 1, 2012I've seen netherwart grow in fully light rooms.Posted in: Survival Mode
From the wiki:
"Nether Wart will uproot if it isn't in light level 8+, or a place that receives level 8+ sunlight during the day, just like most other plants. In the Nether, this rule doesn't apply. However, due to a bug, the rule does apply if the Nether Wart is planted any distance directly below a natural vein of glowstone or a lava source block. "
I think you need some more light.
