-6 gigs of RAM
-nVidia geforce 9100
-AMD Athlon II x4 620 proccesor
- direct x 11
-latest version of java
when i first start out i get 70 fps on normal render and fast graphics. then randomly theres a lag spike that puts me to
10 FPS and it stays that way until i log off and wait a while.
So I run Minecraft on a pretty decent laptop. It pushes ~320 FPS normally, and about 140-160 with FPS limiting turned on. The problem is that it heats up my laptop quite badly, and I'm not really keen on the heavy wear-and-tear it causes. And besides, with a monitor refresh of 60hz, it doesn't make any sense to have FPS higher than 60.
Now, I know that I could turn on VSYNC to limit the FPS to match the monitor refresh, but that still puts stress on the graphics card, right? I mean, my lappy heats up nearly as badly as with VSYNC off, anyway. Plus, the framerate gets pretty choppy with VSYNC on.
Any ideas/mods for limiting FPS or otherwise limiting the power this game consumes? BTW, I'm running Windows 7 Home on an Intel i7 740QM CPU, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GFX 285M.

I have 6 gigs of ram i also disk defragment disk cleanup everyday and i put fog 2 max and put the thing to fast instead of fancy and i get around 20 fps how are you doing this you wizard?
havn't we gotten over this topic in like 1.1. ok people grief, so play on single player. i know how you feel though. i get really pissed when people grief my stuff in smp. but i don't rant about it.
