great map man, can't wait to see future releases...
well thought out and not overly-complicated like some tend to be

Mar 1, 2011Loved it :biggrin.gif:Posted in: Maps
Don't let me tell you what to do because you are a much better map maker then me, but I thought the first two challenges were great, the third needed more length/difficulty, and that the fourth one was weird at the first half, but I liked the ceiling-hit jumps...
All in all, tons of potential, I love the chests at the beginning (death is inevitable) and the checkpoint system is great.
Perhaps implement an automated minecart system if you do all 20 levels, that would be nice... These are just my opinions though, good luck :biggrin.gif:
Mar 1, 2011This is a short demo of a map that I may or may not continue working on. I am looking for some constructive criticism, as this is my first map. The "puzzles" are all really redundant and there really is no challenge currently. However, I would appreciate some people to give it a quick play through to give me some feedback. Rules are simple and posted in the map; don't cheat and don't destroy blocks.Posted in: Maps
Things to fix in future:
-Variety of puzzles.
-Fix "the trap" (it is also incredibly predictable")
-I thought it would be epic if Ghasts spawned in the Nether, but they have not been for me :/
-As the map progresses, I would make there actually be combat.
-The plot makes little to no sense.
I know it sounds like a terrible map, but beneath all of the flaws in the rough draft, I think there are a couple of interesting things that might make it worth your time lol...
Download: (No BB Code because I'm not sure if that's working) http://www.mediafire.com/?1c5zc93v9c3fmm7
-If you escape the trap (which is probably what you will do) just jump down lmao...
-Should I fix up and continue? Please leave feedback and suggestions :biggrin.gif:

Thanks a ton :biggrin.gif:
you guys definitely pointed me in the right direction

Quote from zombiemann »Don't even bother trying to host on a laptop, esp not a macbook. Too expensive to replace when you fry something because it over heated. I would suggest you all pool your resources and rent a VPS. That would be your best bet. A little bit of searching here on the forums will bring up plenty about the various VPS outfits.
thanks for the honest advice lol, I've done quick search through the forums, but is there anyway you could kind of point me in the right direction for a vps... say we want a server for just like 5 people or so, how much RAM would we need? it's looking like its gonna be really expensive lmao
Feb 21, 2011I want to start a server for just me and a few of my friends in real life, it would probably be like 4-6 people tops, and I am seeking some advice. I have my bad desktop computer that I could use as a dedicated server, it has about a gig of RAM, and can barely run minecraft with fast graphics and tiny render distance... I also have my macbook which I use to play minecraft on, and it runs well with full screen, medium render distance, and fancy graphics... it has 2GB of RAM. The other option would be to not host it at all and get one of my technologically impaired friends attempt to host it (I consider myself bad, but they are worse lmao)Posted in: Server Support and Administration
any advice? I have never hosted a server before, this would just be for my friends to mess around together obviously, not a huge server
Feb 20, 2011cant seem to get bladed bows to work :/Posted in: Mods Discussion
I'm on a mac, but I dragged and dropped the gui files in the right folder, and the other files in the main jar... I did everything right (I think)
I've gotten plenty of other mods to work, any clue?
Feb 19, 2011Bump: I solved the lighting issue, the guy had the settings all messed up, I don't know how to explain it lol... that was a simple enough questionPosted in: Legacy Support
but I am still concerned about the framerate drops, any help would be greatly appreciated :biggrin.gif:
Feb 19, 2011I got a used macbook for $550 bucks, it is only a couple months old, and it was originally $1000 bucks, so, even though I don't like macs, it was a bargain in my opinionPosted in: Legacy Support
however, when I play minecraft, the framerate drops incredibly low when I switch the render distance to normal when I play for a bit, then, when I switch it to low, it won't fix itself... it's just weird to me how it operates, it runs perfect on low, but then when i go to higher, it will run perfect for a while, but then just permanently drop until i exit out of it
also, the brightness is set up to the max, but it is just really really dark, so I need to use TONS of torches, it's ridiculous
any ideas? I'm new to macs, but I still managed to get all my old mods working :biggrin.gif:
Feb 19, 2011I've messed around with mods and stuff, and I just like playing mostly vanillaPosted in: Survival Mode
I just have the SimpleMap Mod that came with BetterLight, a texture pack, and thats it... I always leave it on normal, unless i'm getting intense amounts of lag from entering a new area while branch mining for diamonds or something... if I'm near a cave system, the mobs slow my feeble computer down.
My house has a basement, and then a tunnel that connects to my elaborate mining system... so whenever nighttime hits, I just go down there, and SimpleMap has a system that tells you when its light and day out...
basically, I am always occupied with something, and I have minecarts all the way to and from layer 10, so it's not a huge deal when I gotta "go down to the mines". because of that, it's really not that big of an issue for me, but I also just feel as if nighttime should be something to be feared. If the mob was so easy to kill, why switch it to easy? you could say their annoying, but we all know we fear the creeper attack! when I really need to do a huge build, I just light up the area to no tomorrow... On my old worlds, I would switch to easy, and I never felt like I was cheating, but it was just boring... there's not really an objective to the game, but I feel like by going to peaceful, you're eliminating one of the few goals you have; survival
lololololol for rambling opinions,... it's 4:30am here and I just got off minecraft to check this site haha...
Feb 19, 2011this thread makes me feel justified...Posted in: Survival Mode
I bought the game, but I'm not sure if I got hacked, or my payment got denied a week after I bought it, thus I have been trying to contact mojang support for a while
in other words, I'm a pirate as of now, but as soon as I get a response, I'll re-buy, or I never was really I pirate in the first place because I was hacked... my username is still unusable to make a new account, and this one guy was just destroying all of my stuff and seemed to hate me on my server I played on, so that's why I think I may have been hacked, but the euros thing is why my payment could have been backed up somehow
am I a pirate?! DUN-DUN-DUN!
I've convinced a few of my friends to buy it, so technically I'm good :tongue.gif:
I do miss SMP so much tho :sad.gif:
Feb 18, 2011daugystik posted a message on Items Mod Version 0.2 Now with bugfixes! (Modloader)The duration should be dropped by a bit more to make it more balanced (+1 damage, less duration)Posted in: Mods Discussion
also, I can't seem to get it to work :/
I loaded the files, but nothing... didn't break my game at least :biggrin.gif:
EDIT: I love the idea, but it's just overpowered in my opinon
Feb 12, 2011I bought minecraft when it was still in alpha through paypal in the US, and I guess it rejected it because it in Euros or what not. I have emailed the mojang support with my payment receipt and have asked if I could re-purchase it through some other means and still retain alpha status (as it was backordered a week after and then went into beta), but they have not responded yet...Posted in: Discussion
I haven't bothered to repurchase beta right now because my laptop that ran it was a faulty brand of HP's that all broke and we weren't refunded... and my desktop is so ancient that it can't even run minecraft (i can still run the client offline from when I downloaded it, but it's not even worth playing because it crashes, and I'm not gonna steal from an indie dev)... but I'm getting a new laptop pretty soon.
Do you guys think it is still worth trying to contact them, or is it a lost cause and I'll just have to cough up an extra 5 bucks or whatever and forfeit free updates for life

excellent server though, I'm gonna miss it
U no buy it again? :*(
I'm set with single player, I'm disappointed, but it's for the best because I'm in AP classes and this god damn game has not let me do ANY of my winter break hw (multiple essays and the like), and if I buy it again, it doesn't allow me to get free updates and it's more expensive... I haven't really played games since the beginning of summer lol, now I know why, I get addicted too easily...
I'm off to write some essays :/
you can turn my house into a hotel if you want, and I have a secret house off on a beach somewhere with a private tree island and a hidden chest burried in one of the corners... I give isaac total control over our mine as well
peace... had fun playing with everyone on the server, I'm off to write some essays lol :/
