posted a message on Iron/Gold buttons (hold down for more power)

So I was thinking there should be iron and gold buttons, perhaps even levers. The way they would work is the longer it's held down the greater the redstone power would stretch. This would make timing easier, down side is you have to hold the button. Though if this was a lever then that problem is not as bad. I know there are ways to accomplish this via redstone and the components we have now, but seeing that function in a button or lever sounds awesome.

Perhaps iron could require you to hold the button and gold would just increase in power until it's 15 then revert back down.

Anyways I doubt this idea will get much support and I do know that people like the challenge of redstone being part of the game.

Also maybe they could change gold/iron pressure plates to use this idea, I mean do people even use those any more, not for their intended purpose at least.

posted a message on Underwater Reefs

This idea came to me while collecting chorus fruit. I was thinking "oh this block would look so cool under the ocean". Sadly chorus plants break when water touches it. So my question to you is, wouldn't it be cool to have a chorus plant that you could have underwater, maybe only underwater? I have a big glass window pointing to a bare ocean and I would love to see some reefs there. I know I could build my own using wool or clay, but damit I want chorus plants.

    What

You can't enchant arrows, but I assume you mean bow enchants so I am gonna say that it's okay.

You can add potion effects to arrows, which is what I actually meant. This is rarely used since you need dragon breath and they don't work with infinity. So maybe adding effects to these arrows would be interesting, it would overall be alittle pointless.(pun not intended)

I was also thinking you could enchant these arrows the same as other arrows but I'm not sure if this would be good or bad.

I was going through an Ocean Monument and I found how much a Prismarine Shard looks alot like an arrowhead. So I was thinking hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could make underwater arrows using these?

These arrows would have the ability to be fired underwater without getting slowed down by the water. This would make clearing Ocean Monuments easier, but the catch is you would need to go into an Ocean Monument to gather them. Anyways what do you think?

posted a message on Make Slime Blocks Less Sticky(adding paper to improve redstone builds)

I do see how NBT tags would not be the way to go, but I still believe that a 6 bit tag would still work. As of the visible aspect I feel the making 1 side paper would have to effect all adjacent sides to give the user a better idea of what side has paper and which do not. Simply coloring the edge of the slime block white when it's adjacent side has paper could solve that problem.

The biggest problem I believe in actually doing this is the increase in lag when pushing slime blocks. Massive slime contraptions already create a good amount of lag and for the server/client to have to perform another check when pushing a slime block may make these matters worse as well as the fact that moving these blocks means moving the meta data as well. I have not looked into the game's code to know exactly how this is done but I can see this problem causing unnecessary lag.

Nevertheless, I believe both the dyed slimes and the papered slimes could be useful, but there is no need for both. The problem I have with the dyed slimes is that we would still require furnaces or obsidian or some non-movable block next to the slime in order to make them not move or in some contraptions even work. Example, If I were to build a slime block elevator I currently am limited in what blocks I would like to build the shaft out of. An elevator shaft made from iron would be nice. Dying slime blocks or having different color slime blocks would still limit you from what you can and cannot place next to slimes, unless of course each dye has a strength of what can and can't be pushed.

I wish I was good at modding I would add this. I'm sure I could make some animations when I find the time to show how this would work. Perhaps coloring the sides of slime blocks is the way to go, getting the best of both worlds.

posted a message on Dispenser Ladders

Very simple idea of adding a ladder in a dispenser places the ladder of the dispenser, and activating it again places the ladder back into the dispenser. Pretty much would work like buckets and water/lava. We could have retractable ladders with a switch of a button.

posted a message on Make Slime Blocks Less Sticky(adding paper to improve redstone builds)

I hate to bump my own thread, but I'd like to add some examples of how this could improve builds on minecraft when dealing with slimeblocks.

    1. No longer have to use furnaces or other non-moving blocks next to slime blocks allowing for better ascetics.

    2. Can have slimeblocks next to each other without interacting with each other allowing more compact builds.

    3. Finally be able to have a slimeblock launcher that is flushed with the ground without picking up the ground.

Finally I'd like to also like to acknowledge that there have been suggestions to color slimeblocks so they don't interact with each other, but I feel this method of adding paper to the sides of slimeblocks would solve this as well, at least for most cases. I could imagine some complex design where this wouldnt work, but colored slimeblocks would, though I imagine this would not be a problem for most builds.

posted a message on Make Slime Blocks Less Sticky(adding paper to improve redstone builds)

Idea is to right click Slime Blocks with paper to make that side of the block not sticky until you break it of course. This will improve redstone builds alot I believe.

Basic idea is that you put paper on that side of the block basically covering up the slime.

Technical Info: This would probably require NBT tags seeing that a data tag would require 64 different data tags to account for each of the 6 sides.( Math 2^6). Of course if wanting to use data tags just convert to binary and each digit could count as a side.

Slime_Block:0 -- Normal, all sides stick

    Slime_Block:63-- No sides stick

    Slime_Block:46--?????

    46 = 011101

2 sides stick, let's say the north and the bottom if we go with a NESWBT rule.

Anyways who else would like to see this in Minecraft?

I drifted away from using this mod for a while, but I'm curious: was this option ever implemented? I don't see a mention of it in the changelog.
