I had an idea for this texture pack. So the idea is on the surface of the world the world will be all natural like its untouched by civilization (so highly saturated greens for leaves and grass deep blue colour for water etc.) but as you dive deeper into the world that is when you start to find the remnants of the steampunk civilisation that came before. So its like you are peeling away a mystery. The idea is natural things like trees and stuff will have a very primitive feel and when things like iron red stone and even diamond become available the base and worlds feel becomes much more technologically advanced. I dont know just me thinking. I think this texture pack will be great btw!

Optifine can indeed replace MCPatcher in terms of its in-built mods, but where did you read that Optifine replaces Modloader? That's not true. It is COMPATIBLE with Modloader but if you want Modloader functionality you still need to install it. And I'm quite sure the same holds true for Risugamis Audio Mod.

    Fantastic idea!
Thanks for the quick reply I dont know where I heard that i guess i just assumed when i read it replaced mcpatcher and was compatible with mod loader, mod loader was replaced as well. Thanks

Hey this may be a stupid question but does this also do the job of risugamis audio mod. I know that optifine covers mc patcher and mod loader but im not sure about the audio mod part and I would like to use the portal mod with this which requires mod loader and audio mod. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for updating so quickly. One of the first mods to be updated. You dont get enough credit for how many hours you have put into this incredible mod.

I just have in my MC Patcher:

Clay Soldier Mod ( This maybe? )
    HD Textures
    HD Font
    Better Grass
    Custom Colors
    Random Mobs

I can uninstall mc Patcher but how do I make the Mods HD Textures HD Font and Clay Soldier Mod in optifine? And very thanks for the answer! :D

Oh and.. I need HD Font and HD Textures for my TP.

Ok well theres the problem. Dont worry about your texture packs because optifine has that covered as well as modloaders job too. So i suggest getting a fresh minecraft, then deleting meta inf, installing optifine then shaders then whatever mods you would like. This should fix it hopefully. So remember no mod loader or mc patcher with optifine.

Look, when I start at my world Minecraft = Blackscreen or Whitescreen ._.

Are you working with a fresh copy of minecraft with no other mods or anything? Because both modloader and mcpatcher are incompatible with optifine because optifine does both of their jobs. Other than that I dont know. I havent ever had a problem like that with optifine

I do this and Minecraft works, but I can't see the landscape. Can you please help me again?

What exactly do you mean cant see the landscape? some screenshots might help. I dont think i have ever encountered a problem with optifine making the landscape hard to see. But Just to rule out the obvious you havent accidently changed the view distance have you?

    How do I install Optifine?

to install optifine all you have to do is open up your minecraft.jar (which is located in C:\Users\ "your user"\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin)
then open up minecraft.jar with winrar or 7zip or something like that (by right clicking and using open with). Then open the optifine zip or rar file and drag and drop its contents straight into minecraft.jar. MAKE SURE to delete meta inf. then you should be fine. Its also best to do this with a fresh minecraft.

I cant install this right, because it makes my minecraft lag. how can i fix it?

If your minecraft is lagging its most likely because your compute can't handle it if you could give some computer specs we would be able to help you out a little more. But it sounds like your computer just isnt powerful enough to handle this mod as it is quite taxing. There are a few things you can do like lowering your view distance and turning of smooth lighting, Sonicether has listed a few on the front page if you want to check those tweaks out but there isnt much else you can do.

hey Im having some trouble using the god rays effect and was just wondering if anyone could help me out. First of all I am using an ati 6950 with 1 gb gddr5 ram, an I3 first gen 2.6 oced to 3.08 ghz (not sure what model exactly), and 8 gigs of ram.
The god ray turns on just fine but the effect is not what i think was intended. Maybe im wrong but from what ive seen of god rays from videos this isnt quite right.

see within the rays it seems to be copying the outline of the vista or something Look closely. Maybe im wrong and this is how it was intended but a response would be appreciated.

Actually, I've nearly ripped my hair out at how much this has been discussed. People seem to think that Minecraft ever dealt with lighting in a high-dynamic-range way. I'm totally aware of this problem and I've contemplated ways to fix it but none of those things are ideal for performance quite yet. It's still on my to-do list.

Sorry about that im new to the forum, i hadnt realized. But i am glad to see you are working on it. Thanks for the quick reply and I hope your hair remains on your head. :)

Hey sonicether, I have really been enjoying your epic shader pack, but theres one thing that has really bothered me that no one else seems to be pointing out. Torches dont really give off any visible light, they should give off an orange light kinda like the sun instead of raising the light level of the room but leaving the room that dark unlit feeling. This really makes underground bases and stuff undesirable. Any way this can be fixed? Anyway thanks for the epic shaders.

is the glitch where torches dont cast proper light fixable on our end or do we have to wait for ether to fix it. Because ive been loving this amazing shader mod, the only downside being that underground I have no real light sources. Also glowstone works fine outdoors giving of proper light but not underground. Thanks for the epic shaders ether, and thanks to anyone who can help.
