    posted a message on Minecraft Modding - Using ModLoader
    ModLoader Modding Tutorial using Eclipse!
    I will make tutorials for Blocks and generation but not right now!

    Hello, i am going to show you how to make new tools, blocks, block generation and many more!

    First i would recommend to download the free program Eclipse. You can find it herehttp://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ and chose Eclipse Classic. You may also find it useful to have MCP(shortend for Minecraft Coder Pack) you can find it here: http://mcp.ocean-lab...hp/MCP_Releases remember to chose the latest version! If you don't know how to do this watch this video:

    Making Tools:

    First we will want to make our constructor, it should look like this:
    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class mod_Mod extends BaseMod
    {
    	public void load()
    	{

    }
    public String getVersion()
    {
      return "1.2.3";
    }
    }

    Then we would want to make the tool itself:
    public static final Item Pick = ItemPickaxe(1450,EnumToolMaterial.LOL).setItemName("pick");

    But the EnumToolMaterial.LOL doesn't exist so then we would open up the EnumToolMaterial.java:
    This is the class itself and as you see there are WOOD, STONE, IRON, EMERALD and GOLD. But, we want to add another one! So then just copy or write one yourself. Now we will make a new one, but first. We want to chose its durability, strength and how fast it will mine a block.

    BEFORE:
    package net.minecraft.src;
    public enum EnumToolMaterial
    {
    	WOOD(0, 59, 2.0F, 0, 15),
    	STONE(1, 131, 4F, 1, 5),
    	IRON(2, 250, 6F, 2, 14),
    	EMERALD(3, 1561, 8F, 3, 10),
    	GOLD(0, 32, 12F, 0, 22);

    AFTER:
    package net.minecraft.src;
    public enum EnumToolMaterial
    {
    	WOOD(0, 59, 2.0F, 0, 15),
    	STONE(1, 131, 4F, 1, 5),
    	IRON(2, 250, 6F, 2, 14),
    	EMERALD(3, 1561, 8F, 3, 10),
    	GOLD(0, 32, 12F, 0, 22),
    	LOL(3, 2000, 15F, 3, 10);

    Now, ive made mine quite good being better than Diamond. The 3 in the front symbolises the Harvestlevel.
    3 = the same strength as diamond, able to mine obsidian but not bedrock. 2000 = The number of uses it can take before it breaks. 15F = The speed of the pickaxe. 10 = The enchantability of the tool.

    Now our file should look like this:
    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class mod_Mod extends BaseMod
    {
      public static final Item Pick = new ItemPickaxe(1450, EnumToolMaterial.LOL).setItemName("pick");

    	public void load()
    	{

    }
    public String getVersion()
    {
      return "1.2.3";
    }
    }

    Next up is addName, addRecipe and IconIndex:

    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class mod_Mod extends BaseMod
    {
      public static final Item Pick = new ItemPickaxe(1450, EnumToolMaterial.LOL).setItemName("pick");

    	public void load()
    	{
        ModLoader.addName(Pick, "TuTpick");
        Pick.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/items.png", "pick.png");
        ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Pick, 1), new Object[]
        {
            "###", " * ", " * ", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt, Character.valueOf('*'), Item.stick
        });

      }
      public String getVersion()
      {
      return "1.2.3";
      }
    }

    So now just add your pickaxe texture into the minecraft.jar(if you're using mcp go to the jars folder and then into the minecraft.jar)

    And thats it! You have sucessfully made your tool! Just rince and repeat for the other tools (Axe = ItemAxe, Shovel = ItemSpade, Sword = ItemSword, Hoe = ItemHoe) but, the recipe is diffrent for the other tools heres an example of the recipes:

    Shovel:
    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Spade, 1), new Object[]
    {
    	" # ", " * ", " * ", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt, Character.valueOf('*'), Item.stick
    });

    Axe:
    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Axe, 1), new Object[]
    {
    	"## ", "#* ", " * ", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt, Character.valueOf('*'), Item.stick
    });

    Hoe:
    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Hoe, 1), new Object[]
    {
    	"## ", " * ", " * ", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt, Character.valueOf('*'), Item.stick
    });

    Sword:
    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Sword, 1), new Object[]
    {
    	" # ", " # ", " * ", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt, Character.valueOf('*'), Item.stick
    });

    NOTE: You can use any type of item/block for the tools and if you have a custom item/block you would want to use just type
    Character.valueOf('#'), mod_modnamehere.item/blockyouwanttouse

    Hope this tutorial helped!

    Sincerly

    posted a message on Need help making new stairs...
    Quote from tylerb1997

    I'm having a real hard time understanding this.

    public static final Block stairsGlass = new stairsGlass(200, Material.glass).setBlockName("stairsBrick").setRequiresSelfNotify();

    I get an error: "stairsGlass cannot be resolved to a type"

    The new stair you are trying to make doesn't exist thats why it cannot be resolved. Since when you make a pick you say
    public static final Item Pickaxe = new ItemPickaxe
    the "new ItemPickaxe" is a already a file. So you basically extend ItemPickaxe, so you use its code. Where you can find the stairs code i don't know. Just look up on youtube :) Hope this helps a bit.

    EDIT: the class is BlockStairs

    You just gotta love this texture pack :biggrin.gif: I recently got it and im very happy with it.
    Me and my friend use this texture pack when we play, but theres just one little thing.
    In my opinion i think you should change all the mob textures that has the default skin
    because you have only changed the creepers skin. And btw i love the creeper skin :biggrin.gif:

    Awesome texture pack man! Keep up the good work :biggrin.gif:

    Quote from No1matt

    Its a glitch on multiplayer. Red stone circuits stop working after a set time or something stupid like that. Also client side lag doesnt help at all. Its almost imposible to make things like piston elevators on multiplayer due to lag and the glitch.

    its being fixed in 1.8

    Ohh okay. Thanks man!

    all people with s.p.c. mod any way i have these and made a town using wood and wool as well as a
    fire place in each house then spawned some humans and took a few pics. i had to build a wall around them to keep them from escaping.i wish i could put the screen shots up, but i don't know how, and i don't any sites to put the pics up.
    but it did look silly since the skins are all default.

    :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif:

    Its fake for sure. They probably just used the spawnnpc and spawned the mob called monster which is the mob with the default skin.
