I am looking for a mod that, upon your death, when keepInventory is set to false, in any mode excluding Hardcore, (This command could be removed altogether if it causes problems for the mod) you are given the option to A: Respawn or B: Respawn with items appearing in the original game layout somewhat like this:
[Respawn]
[Respawn with Items (XP Cost: xx)] [Choose Items]
I'm thinking the choose items selection may not be included, as to offer an "All or Nothing" deal to the player.
The catch here is, unlike in vanilla minecraft, you do NOT drop your items upon death. If you choose not to respawn with them they will be gone permanently.
Another possible consequence could be loss of permanent stats, e.g. [Respawn with Items (XP Cost: xx) (Stats: -1/2 Heart, Food)]
A possible feature could be to choose what items you wish to keep, the cost lowering depending on items kept and left (i.e. Keeping 64 cobblestone and 2 iron would be cheaper than keeping 64 cobblestone, 2 iron, and a sharpness 1 diamond sword).
Below are ideas for pricing various objects/object types (To be updated soon/with more suggestions):
Base Price: 5 Levels
OP Items (Things unattainable in normal survival): Cannot be retained
Pickaxes:
Axes:
Hoes:
Shovels:
Swords:
Ores:
Stone/Dirt/Sand/General: Free
Wooden Objects (Wood, Fence, etc.): Free
Potions:
Enchanted/Renamed Objects: Cost of 1/2 What it cost in total to enchant/rename the item, Cost of all what it cost if keeping more than one enchanted/renamed object.
I finally got all the materials I needed to travel to the Nether with sufficient backup. With me was a full set of iron armor plus 2 iron pickaxes and an iron sword, a diamond pickaxe (I had just mined the obsidian), and an extra diamond. The rest was less valuable.
I was real excited, having never gotten far enough in survival (I used to play exclusively creative, until I discovered how fun survival was) to travel to the nether in that mode.
I got in, and....
Suffocated in a wall. -____-
Needless to say since I felt cheated, I cheated and got that stuff back.
Apparently I had built my portal right next to one that had naturally spawned in the nether and got stuck in the obsidian that intersected.
Hey! You're probably going to get more luck in the Redstone section of the forum, but I'll do my best to explain my (limited XD) knowledge to you here.
For the arena with the choosing bowls, the best thing to do is to set a delay using repeaters. This way, the loss of health will occur before you are teleported. I can take screenshots of the basic setup if need be.
To trigger the /say command after a certain event, I believe /testfor is what you're looking for. Now, these commands can get quite complicated quickly, but looking up pages on this should help you if not understand, copy what you need.

To those saying some are pointless: Sure they are, but they are much more convenient. I for one would not want to have to set up a redstone/command block contraption when I could simply type /gamerule , press tab a few times, type true/false, and be done with it.It is also much simplerThat is, than setting up all that stuff you have to learn how to do.

Still working on this?

Somnia:
First it seems like it will make the game easier: Sleep any time you want and speed up the world around you while doing so, but there's a catch.
If you want to sleep, you need a shelter. Otherwise mobs can come up and kill you.
Toxic Rain:
Pretty much says it. Rain hurts. Ouch.

Making their ordered action a suicide will further test their survival skills.

And I'm assuming it's not as simple to make hostile mobs peaceful.
