Age: 17 (I hope you will find my application satisfactory for an exception!)

    Country: USA

How did you hear about server?: I was looking for whitelisted communities to join here on the forum. :)

What got you interested in the server?: I recently joined a server that promised to be many things it has not really lived up to. After some... interesting decisions and only a few short weeks the server has gone pretty much dead. I haven't given up all hope yet but I was really looking for a more community-oriented, more mature, and simply more existent playerbase. I think this sounds like it fits the bill! And a great plus is that the vanilla feel you guys are going for doesn't seem like it's going to make transactions difficult (I see sign shop is set up :D) which is my main gripe with strict-vanilla SMP.

The fact that you guys are a community of builders and have custom terrain also sounds great for my play style!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is your favorite part of minecraft?: I love the creative freedom that Minecraft provides for you, especially in building. Sharing ideas and making visions come to life is such a fantastic thing to do, and combining that with the challenge and subsequent reward of creating in survival is a fantastic experience.

Do you have a preferred building style?: I prefer building in a way that embraces the landscape and biome of its area instead of trying to push traditional IRL architectural styles onto areas that don't match them. I think living with the land through the builds helps create a feeling unique to the area and makes builds and cities more interesting and worth visiting. I have also gotten more into interior decorating recently. I guess it's the finer things! :)

What do you hope to get out of this server?: I hope to find a community which I can build up community projects with and have to develop good looking and well-functioning infrastructure to become close-knit with the various people joining and to transform the Minecraft world with.

What can you bring to this server?: I can bring my always-improving build technique and style to the server

Tell us about yourself!: I'm a friendly and overachieving rising senior. While Minecraft isn't the biggest thing in my life, it's one of my favorite video games and the thing I play most often to escape from the responsibilities of "real life" and to meet and engage with others from across the world. I'm coming into college application season and I'm a master procrastinator, but I'm sure I'll get the job done!

Add pictures of your builds (optional): I don't have much right now (having wiped for 1.13) but I've attached (or tried to) some pictures of a split-floor fireplace I have been developing for my house in an extreme hills biome on a server.

    I hope that I can see you all soon on the server. One of my favorite things is joining at the start of great servers so I can help build the world up. Regardless, best of building to everyone. Have a nice day and thanks for considering me :) ;

Tell me about yourself: I have been playing minecraft since about the beginning of 1.5. I enjoy learning and sharing ideas/accomplishing tasks for the benefit of the community. I can do basic redstone builds but specifically enjoy larger-scale building to make cities/towns and transportation systems between them. If invited into the server, I want to attempt mainly walled communities focused on sustainability by utilizing largely or (in certain cities/sectors) exclusively renewable resources (and in all cases responsibly sourced resources) to foster an innovative and modern feel and provide services to the community. I mainly play minecraft and will be on most often during nighttime EST.
Do you agree to follow the server guidelines?: I agree to follow all guidelines.

posted a message on Need Help with /tellraw for Branched Dialogue

    Hello all!

I'm dagreenkat and I recently began work on my first map, an adventure map called Detective Minecraft #1: The Peculiar Past of Penelope Waters.

I'm quite the command block novice, but willing to learn whatever I need to so I can make my map a reality! I've planned to use /tellraw for branched dialog, but I'm not quite sure how.

What I want is something like this:

[Walter]: Oh, hey there! You must be Detective @p

    ((then as in-text options))

    Do you know Penelope?

How long have you been living here?

    What happened to your mother?

    See you later!

and after you asked one of them and they replied, it would come up like

How long have you been living here?

    What happened to your mother?

    See you later!

and if possible a question or two related to the dialogue they just told you.

I thought this would be possible but I have little idea where to begin- so I'd appreciate some guidance or otherwise knowledge I simply can't do this.

    I'm working in 1.10

    Thanks for all your help!

posted a message on [1.8] [Mystery Adventure Map] [WIP] We Were Here Part I: The People

Due to suggestions by some wonderful people on a previous thread, I am completely revamping a previous idea in both concept and execution. [I was previously using a naturally generated village for a pretty cool story which... ew... why would I ever...] Here's what you'll eventually be seeing up for download:

The Story- You awake in a room which some villagers have kindly laid aside for you- along with a note from one villager called Martha. You are marveling at the kindness of the people- food, shelter, what they could find of your stuff,- but when you read the letter you realize something is horribly awry. Martha isn't returning. And for the time being, you can't leave. Piece together the mystery of an entire village's apparently sudden departure as you attempt to find a way to escape.

    The Features-

o Explore an entire village created by out-of-the-ordinary villagers.

o Search for clues as Martha's note leads you to others.

o Struggle to comprehend the aid of others as you piece together the villagers' language of Villish.

o Read bonus lore regarding the village's scientific breakthroughs and research up until their disappearance!

o Admire the little details of efficiency in the village buildings.

    o [XX] minutes of gameplay!

o Part of a series- meaning there will be more to come! Keep a lookout for Part II: The Bush, and Part III: The Bunker!

    The Screenshots-

The Download- D: Sorry, the scientists in the village haven't quite perfected a version yet- be on the lookout!

posted a message on Testing Out My Building Skills (:P)
Of course! I'm currently developing the plot and creating hard to find references for things :). I'll be sure to mention on this thread when I release a first beta (probably when most building is done and the story not yet started to have others search for building flaws) and of course when it is done :). I also have a side project going on, but that is of much less priority and will receive no attention until I have the building done for this one.

posted a message on The Abandoned Village [Chapter One: The Eternal Night]
First of all, thank you for taking the time to download and comment on this map! Every comment like yours helps me on the path to becoming a better mapmaker. Now let me address all my mistakes:

As for starting in creative mode, that was not intentional. I must have linked my worksave instead of the playsave (whoops!).

I didn't mean for the armor to be of full strength, but rather badly damaged. I must have put it in as a placeholder before I figured out how to easily make it damaged and forgot about it. The fact you found this first suggests you did not first search for your things?

The well indeed was unfinished, eventually meant to be the escape path the villagers took, and to require several things found in clues in order to go through.

The clue reminder on the club was for me. I think I probably should have left more time to work on the whole thing before releasing any version. My mistake :P

The pool house had the set up for chest+item, you are correct, but I had not yet decided what I wanted to go there. (What would make sense in a pool but still contribute to the overall storyline?)

About the blacksmith, yeah, I didn't even notice that area :P.

You say I should add some potatoes. From Martha's letter, the complete absence of crops was meant to be part of the 'amiss'-ness going on. And also the dark-but-day thing, I'm glad you understood that :)

I will certainly keep this in the back of my head. Currently I am designing a new set for an adventure map, so that should be interesting.

I have very little experience in minecraft building, but recently I have been struck with the urge to create an adventure map which means I'll need to build some. The following pictures are from the beginnings of an adventure map set I've been working on. It's a beach house/hotel/something next to a water basin.

    Thoughts?

I think I am going to start a new map and try out some new things with that. Thank you for the pointers!

However, until I am sure I don't want to continue this one I think I'll leave the thread up.

Thank you! I expected it to be abundantly obvious that this is my first map but thank you for those pointers; Certainly I will be able to improve in the future!

As for the natural village, I have some plans to renovate the insides of each (as you may have noticed by areas like the pool, etc.) but other than that not much. I see what you mean as that being a sign of me being an amateur, but hey, I am. ;) And I think with the note from Martha I have a great chance to at least after this map segue into somewhere other than a naturally generated area (They have to evacuate to somewhere, right?).

For the eternal night, I realize those commands, but I wanted to keep it even darker than the night sky would allow what with the moon and also the fact that trying to sleep in your bed returns the message 'You can only sleep at night" is important for the cause of the eternal darkness. Of course, I'm sure there's an easier way to do that as well along with keeping the player within a certain border.

I DEFINITELY see your point about naturally generated land and that was a big mistake on mine I feel, but after all this work (and again I'm sure it's easier to move it through worlds than I might think) it just seems hard to change.

    Phew. That lasted a while.

Anyway, you note that my writing style stood out quite a bit (which makes sense, I've written a lot more than I have created maps) and also that you'd like to see this story unfold in full. Considering the promise of some evacuation spot in future maps, would it be worth it to create this map inside the village as planned (with at least some interesting clues to follow) or should I redirect my attention to another map in which to utilize my writing style?

Also, could you elaborate on how far you got? There were three notes to find, and a few unfinished areas like the pool.
