still no update im assuming :sad.gif:
We are on 1.1!
If you need to get your chest done, do it today, because tomorrow we reset!

I say that we build shops next to the spawn (like we did in the 1.8 map?)
The 1.8 map was definitely never intended to be permanent. It was very sloppily assembled. But, the idea could work. We could have a "shopping district" of whatever spawn town/city/village/hole we make. I'm sure things will evolve as we go.
1 week from today will mark the reset. When I get home from work, IR as we know it will disappear. I will be bringing the server down for installation/maintenance to make sure no residual data exists. Clean install from scratch, starting with the Server OS!

I'm all in for the reset plus the change of plans :smile.gif:
But I have a few questions:
Will we only have access to ONE single cheat the whole experience? Or is there a certain way to limit each player to one single chest during the transition period?
Regarding the donation structure, could we see more diverse titles? I REALLY loved the idea of prolouctor etc in front of terry and the admins names, maybe each tier have a tittle?
Ex: tier1: peasant
Tier3:aristocrats etc etc etc or something similar?
And maybe the admins sell ONE ITEM to kind of set the standard? Iknow that is against the current plan but based on models in real life, very few economies have become stable based upon their citizens. The gov has always come into play..
These are just some ideas to ponder..food for thought :smile.gif:
Chest: I am making a single bedrock vault (room) for every current player. This vault will have a single chest and two torches in it. You may store whatever you want in your personal chest. Once the new map is up, I will physically move the entire vault structure to the new map. Then you will get a warp to your vault (or something similar, if thats too hard!) and will have access to it permanently.
Titles: Yes! I plan on having multiple structures for titles, possibly with the Latin theme we have now! Titles for normal users from Guest-level to "Regular" as well as a separate structure for donators (VIP -> Donator -> Supporter and more) as well as a new Mod/Admin structure! It will be really neat.
Admin Shop: Kind of up in the air, but I plan on having at least *something* there. The new currency system will be much different, so it will need planning. TBD for now. (to be determined)
Thanks for the reply!Quote from thndrchld
I realize I haven't been on in a while, but I'm in.
After the reset, you guys'll prolly be seeing a lot more of me.
Bring on the Immortal Ragnarok!
Glad to hear it thnd. It'll be good to see you on. For Valhalla!
do it dade... hell this wouldn't be the last time i've started over completely in IR. last time i hid all my loot in chests, in a hole under the ocean and forgot to save the coords... meh.
its not like it takes more than an hour to get yourself set up...
although i will miss my lvl 700+ mining skill, bummer bro
Thanks for the support, wort. I hope you come on and fill a chest so you don't start from scratch again, unless you want to! :smile.gif:Quote from Ziairi
Are you planning to update to the current version of minecraft before the reset? I'm looking for a server, and this one sounds interesting.
If you do, then I'd love to gather some stuff before the reset, but if you don't, well, I'll see you when you do update!
Thanks for the interest! Yes, we will update to 1.1 as soon as a Bukkit Recommended Build comes out and our plugins are compatible. We will not wait for 1.1 for the reset, that's just too long (1 week from tomorrow!)
Jan 18, 2012Okay.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
Plan is starting.
I am definitely going to reset Immortal Realms. This is for suresies.
We're working on a plan for what we will do permanently for new map, but the following things are definite:
New donation structure. We will have multiple donation 'tiers', depending on amount donated. If you have previously donated to IR, your total donation amount will need to be verified and tracked and you will get the corresponding value transferred to the new IR structure. More details later.
NEW MAP. We will be deleting the 1.0 map, the 1.7.3 map and the city map. City map has to go go, but we will create a new city map to replace it. One that is symmetrical and more fairly priced and sized. Some of the buildings on the old city will be imported into the new city AS DISPLAY MODELS only. No one will have build access on them. Not even me.
We will be 100% LEGIT/VANILLA. This means NO ONE WILL have creative mode or access to /i (other than to build a spawn area. then it will not be used thereafter. you'll see me in the mines!) I've gotten far too lazy using /i and creative to build server features. The idea is that if I have to mine for it, I better make it kickass. (Same goes for you, iFF.)
You will have ONE SINGLE CHEST. This is all you can keep from the current maps. Yes, the idea was a double, but that's just too much. A single chest of whatever you want to keep.
Economy is being RESET COMPLETELY. Not one single MineCash is being transferred. It will be a newly valued system (much lower than the prices are now) and will be COMPLETELY USER DRIVEN. We do NOT plan on having an admin shop!
This will occur 1 WEEK FROM FRIDAY. So, that means on Friday, January 27, 2012, Immortal Realms will be going down for a short while to update to whatever we need to update for this reset. We may not be accessable for much of Friday night, depending on what goes wrong/different. You have about 9 days now to get your chest organized, i will be building a bedrock vault for everyone that needs transferring. Contact me in game when you're done.
This is the current plan. I do not know if we will be keeping Residence, or any other plugin we have now. I am going to spend the next 9 days researching and reviewing what could be used. Currently, McMMO is not up to 1.1 (neither are we, though). It may not be in the final server, depending on how OP it is, like it has been!

If this is done, a possible addition - instead of every player making their own town, expecting others to buy plots, maybe try to focus on one large city. perhaps encouraging each player to add a new street or something to it rather than wander off making their own town. In my opinion, this would encourage people to use the left over land for larger projects, pvp, resource gathering, etc. (of course, i can be entirely wrong on that last line)
another idea i'd like to see, though many people were against it, would be to add factions to create more of a pvp element. perhaps best if factions could be enabled only on one map, allowing people to choose whether or not to involve themselves with it. could even enable he mcmmo combat skills on that one map too (this is assuming anything i've suggested is even possible or wanted)
Great suggestions, lunar, thank you.
I don't think I will be doing Factions though, because Factions comes with a native land-protection feature. Maybe if I can tweak it to turn this off, would it be worth it? I will definitely look into it. Although, we have had Clans for a while. If used properly, it is most of the features of Factions, I believe :smile.gif:
I like the One City idea. Build up one area for main living/shops, then the rest is for other misc things. Residence doesn't make this work well though, so maybe a new set of plugins are in order.Quote from Fir3fly1234
We need it. Too much of this:
YES. This is a major issue I have with using items from map to map to map like we have.
Allowing a double chest would introduce 57 "slots" from each person. This could possibly bring too many diamonds and gold over, should they choose to do so.
I'm starting to think a SINGLE CHEST would be a better idea. It will make people bring only the things they NEED instead of the things they WANT.
Jan 17, 2012So, here's an idea.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
We've gotten pretty stagnant. It's a sad sight these days.
I think what we need is a radical change. Over the past year + that IR has been around, we've more or less kept a lot, even though we've lost many maps and work.
At this time, few regulars play on a (semi) daily basis. A lot of people have become bored with what we have.
I propose a potentially unpopular idea. This is only an IDEA at this time, but is likely to become an enacted plan. Yes you will hate me, but my job as owner and administrator is to create the best server possible.
**** THIS IS AN IDEA. THIS IS NOT YET 100% FOR SURE. ****
the IDEA is that we will reset. Reset mcmmo. Reset money. Reset the maps.
OMG DADE WHAT. Yup. The idea is that we will start "FRESH". With a twist, of course.
The plan: I will create a bedrock vault for each and every active user. Everyone who still plays here, regularly or not, will have a newly created bedrock room. This room will have a private warp that only you can access. No one but you (and me!) will have access to this room. Inside this room: A solitary double-sized chest.
This chest will be your future valuables. Since money will be completely 100% reset, the items will inherently be useless, except to your future self. This is the ONLY thing that will not be reset. Think about it: A fresh new game, but with TWO FULL CHESTS of items you can bring over.
I will obviously give people time to collect their stuff, IF I DO THIS. We really really NEED a radical change. If we're going to advertise heavily and get more users to play with us, we need: A better, more stable economy; consistency with items (there's GOLD and DIAMONDS on our server FROM 1.3. I'm serious).
We can make it better. All your buildings will be gone, yes. But do you really use them? A lot of things are just abandoned or owned by people who don't play with us anymore.
A lot of you will resist this idea. I understand completely. I will support you fully if you want to quit if this happens. Some of you may quit just by me mentioning this idea.
What can you do? Persuade me we don't need it. If you believe we should NOT do this, please let me know how I can improve IR to be better for all. (Don't make suggestions as to Staff or people on the server. That's just harassment.) Would we do better with Towny instead of Residence? What do you think could improve us? Heck, let me know even if you support the reset idea.
I know a lot of hard work went into the buildings or the mining or the McMMO stats. But things are rediculous in minecraft if they get too old, or too big.
Go ahead and post comments, pro or con. Let me see your input.
Jan 14, 2012We will not be on 1.1 until bukkit releases a Recommended Build AND the plugins we need update to that version as well.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
It will likely be a few more days for everything, but could be sooner.
Jan 6, 2012Mobarena has been disabled again. Sorry folks, but it's just not up to date and causes too many problems.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
I will look for a new plugin to replace it. We now have monsterhunt, though! That should help a little at least. :smile.gif:
Dec 30, 2011We have cookies.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)

Reason for banishment: Not being nice.
Reason to be unbanned: I can play nice. I won't break rules.
Okay, but only because we were bros before minecraft was cool.
Dec 12, 2011Nevermind, I was wrong!Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
We're now on the Recommended Build of bukkit for Minecraft 1.0.1!
Let's see how we crash. :smile.gif:
Dec 12, 2011Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
why has the server been crashing at least once a day for the past week?
I blame bukkit. it's not recommended to use yet for 1.0!
