The problem here is you have to have been to the Nether before to get Fire Resist Potions, this is a guide for first timers
Whoa whoa whoa, we are gathering resources from the Nether, not living there. And Ender Chests arent even out yet.
This is not so, if they get hurt, they will attack the closest non-pigmen entity which is probably you, the player

You might also want to check Spawner Egg code. They spawn entities too!
Go to one of the classes for lightning, and one of them(or all of them) should have some name for the entity lightning. It would probably say 'EntityLightning' or something of the like but I'm not sure, check yourself.

Rule 1: NEVER and I say NEVER bring any diamonds to the Nether. If you were wearing diamond armor and you died, well you can say goodbye to it because it either burned in lava/fire OR it survived but it's too far away for you to retrieve.
Just don't do it, it will save you a lot of grief.
Rule 2:Bring a bow and a fishing rod. If your bow cant reach a dastardly ghast, the fishing rod can. Yank that sucker towards you and slice/shoot it.
Rule 3: Pigmen are nice! Or not. Just don't attack them or they will rape you. Also, don't let the ghasts shoot them, they will blame it on you!
Rule 4: Stay away from lava! Where there is lava, there's death, and where there's lava death, there's destroyed items. And even if you do stay away from lava, all that netherrack fire will burn the items.
Rule 5: Bring cobblestone! Cobblestone wont get blown up by ghasts or set on fire like netherrack, so placing cobblestone everywhere will help you reach your goal!
Rule 6: Finding a fortress. I know finding a nether fortress can be hard, and it may make you want to restart your world if it isnt the first thing you see, but they are possible to find! If you have Rei's/Zan's minimap mod, mark your portal as a waypoint so you dont lose it. And when you find that fortress, mark it too! (Note: If there is a lot of lava standing between you and the nether fortress, it's probably a bad idea.)
Rule 7: Killing the blazes. We all know that you NEED blaze rods from blazes to beat the game, but killing blazes can be hard! Before you attempt to kill any blazes, turn on peaceful and destroy most of the blaze spawners so that there is only one left. This will minimize the chance of you being buttraped by flaming flying gold things.

There are good Mods/Admins, and a great overall community.
Best of all, nobody can grief your stuff because it's in a plot, so you have to add people to it so they can build. Griefing IS possible if you ask some random asshole lugnut to build with you and you add him to your plot without getting to know him, but come on, are you really that dumb?
TL;DR: JOIN THE SERVER IT IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!1!!!!

Extra: I have always really wanted to be in a Let's Play, I thought it would be fun. I really like building and I am good with redstone. I would rate myself 7/10 in redstone but there are always those people who cant figure out why their circuit isnt working and it's missing 20 blocks of wire :/. i would really enjoy being in this Let's Play, and I hope to see you soon.
