It's a Minecraft issue with the text not the Resource Pack, hopefully Mojang will sort it out soon or maybe Kahr will add it to MCPatcher.

    https://mojang.atlas...browse/MC-17673

You can work around the font issue by switching back to default before you exit the game, then when you restart switch to John Smith.
You have to do this each time though but it's better than nothing.

Hey, beggars can't be choosers. The workaround you provided is definitely worth the work.. Thanks a ton for going through the effort required to switch it over to a resource pack/host it!!

Has anyone successfully converted it over to a resource pack, without the text errors?

Really excited, FINALLY got this installed with optifine/modloader/john smith texture pack. Took awhile but DEFINITELY worth it! Thanks so much!

If anyone is having issues installing the combination above, I made sure I had the 1.2.4 versions of everything, and installed modloader/btw/turned on john smith, then manually installed optifine. It seems installing optifine with MCPATCHER causes a conflict with BTW, so it has to be done manually.

is 1.2.5 modloader compatible with 1.2.4? if not, is there anywhere I could get a prior release?

EDIT: Found it. I needed to read more of the post. Fantastic job with this risugami, thanks so much!

I am having issues running the smooth/multicore 1.2.5 updated optifine files.. But before I start whining and asking for help just wanted to say you have done a great job with this mod, and the continual updates are making this game considerably more playable. Big ups man.

Few specs; using an AMD Phenom X2 3.1 GHZ cpu with 4 gigs of ram, an nvidia geforce 9800gt, and running win vista 64.

I am experiencing FPS drops from 100 to 0 with the smooth version constantly (just found out this issue is completely fixed by using a bat script to allocate more ram),
& tremendous lag spikes while running the multicore version while maintaining a high fps. There are also large areas of chunks not being loaded & flickering occuring with the blocks on the multicore version.. That particular issue gets considerably worse while using 32x texture packs.

Going to attempt updating my graphic drivers but unsure what else I could do!
I would also like to mention that none of these issues are prevalent within the standard 1.2.5 update.

This mod should be added to the main version of the game. It immensely improves the quality of the graphics and my framerate, I'm very impressed. Night and day difference.

I'm not a script kiddy but I believe I get the gist of what you're saying.. I can veto the .bat, but like I said, the issues were around prior to its creation. Also, would it be possible to fine tune garbage collection? Thanks for the reply!

whats up guys another random person complaining about lag here.

Just a little info on what I'm running:
Windows Vista 64-bit (don't hate) with
    4 gigabytes of ram, an
    AMD Phenom X2 550 (3.1Ghz) processor, and a
    Nvidia Geforce 9800GT
I AM running it on a 64 bit version of java aswell JRE6(31).

It seems fairly consistent while running render distance far, and is occasional with render distance at normal (at least often enough to make me post here). I have tried a couple of things, and I don't really notice much of a difference while allocating more ram (used the script javaw -Xmx4096m -Xms2048m -jar) & yes I have read that allocating more can actually cause problems, but I saw little to no difference from the default.

One thing I did notice while checking F3 during gameplay the allocation is definitely at 2 gigs of ram, but the "used ram" NEVER exceeded 20%.. it is in a constant loop of raising up to 20% then dropping back down to 1-5%, and I DO notice it gets laggy when it drops down to 1-5%. Also want to mention that tick/render are almost constantly 50/50 in the f3 menu, while most screenshots I see with performance problems dont have tick issues like me.
Could this have anything to do with excessive testificites? For some reason the village next to my survival spawn seems to be multiplying villagers like madmen them every day, have at least 90 or so of the little sobs running around with 5 or 6 stone golems....

Is it possible to force minecraft to actually use the memory I by force allocated..?lol.anyways thanks in advance.

Everybody seems to be having a LOT of issues with 1.3's release. Myself and many others have seen a significant drop in fps, too. My screen also goes black at random intervals.. It's too bad there isn't an update rollback option.

I created a thread about this same issue earlier today,

    viewtopic.php?f=17&t=200850

And someone suggested turning graphics to fast, instead of fancy.
I'd suggest turning off the new lighting, as well.. it seems 1.3 is buggy as all hell.

I have noticed significant drop in FPS as well (betterlight or not), while before it NEVER had lag, at all, for ANY reason. Do something about it, notch :sad.gif:

Hey support board go-ers. I've got an increasingly common issue with MC..

While I am playing, the screen goes black and the client stops responding.
And I can't seem to find out why, as it happens at random intervals. I have researched it, and read that possibly updating to a 64 bit version of java would solve the problem.. it seemed to help at first, but all it did was make the problem occur less often.
I've also found that the problem becomes more prominent while using texture packs, at least with me.
This is a VERY frustrating bug, as I can't save my work (I play singleplayer almost exclusively)..
and it's practically making the game unplayable for me. So if anyone has any info that could help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Just thought I should mention that I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit, with the most recent 64 bit version of Java.
