Hey, everybody! Today I have another suggestion: The Tameable Dragon Egg! This is not a new block but just gives a use to the already existing yet useless Dragon Egg. There have been lots of suggestions (I think) about taming the EnderDragon but I thought, "Why not tame the egg?" So here it is, folks, the tameable dragon egg!
How it works: Now I know that Dinnerbone was talking something about having a secret ultimate plan with Endermites and the Dragon Egg. So maybe this could have something to do with that. Basically, if you could get an Endermite to attack the egg, after about 5 seconds, a little baby Dragon head pops out; but just the head. After that, you must tame the baby dragon by feeding him Eye of enders. It can take between 1 and 10 eye of enders to tame the little guy. When he is tamed you can shift+right click him to make him stay, and do it again to make him move around freely. Go to the "Behavior" section to see what this dragon likes to do. And go to the "Use" section to see how the riding works.
Behavior: Like said in the above section, you can shift+right click the dragon to make him stay or move around. If he is not in "stay" mode then you can hold out eye of enders and he will follow you. You can also "feed" him eye of enders to heal him. If the egg/dragon is not in "stay" mode then he will move around quite like a horse. He will not teleport to the player when they get out of certain reach. And he will not follow the player unless they hold out eye of enders. However, leads can be used on the baby dragons. So you can use a lead to hold him in place. But that's pretty pointless since you can just make him stay. The better use for a lead would be to make him follow you without having to hold eye of enders. If you attack any mob except EnderMan or EnderMites, he will attack them. See the "How he does with mobs" section for his attacks.
How he does with mobs: If the Dragon ever found himself in a tricky situation. He has some attacks to help him. First of all, you should note that the dragon has 40 health. Now notice I say "health" not "hearts." This is because in Minecraft, health is measured in half hearts. So if the dragon has 40 health. He really only has 20 hearts. Now this is still double the amount of the player; well, he is the son of a dragon after all. Now for his attacks. The dragon has 2 attacks it can use against monsters. The "Flamethrower" and the "Charge". It really depends on what mob he's facing for which attack he will use. Flamethrower is a long range move similar to the EnderDragon's long range move. He shoots out (orange) fire from his mouth and it lasts about 2 seconds. It will deal a half heart for every 0.5 seconds. So....lemme do the math...(ironic because of my avatar)......okay, done, that's approx 2 hearts (or 4 health) of damage. Now for charge. Charge is his melee move, He basically hops toward the target at a speed of 2 m/s and when he hits the target, it gives the target 2 meters (blocks) of knockback and the dragon 1 meter of knockback. It does 3.5 hearts of damage. But it also deals 1 heart of damage to the dragon himself. If the dragon is facing a long range mob like the skeleton. He will most likely use Charge. But for melee mobs. He might use Flamethrower. NOTE: The Dragon will not fight Enderman nor Endermites.
Riding: You can ride your little egg. But because the Dragon's in an egg. Your going to need a new type of saddle, the Ender Saddle! The Crafting Recipe is like this: http://minecraftrecipedesigner.com/creations/101774.png All you have to do is right click your dragon with it and and boom he's equipped. After that you can right click you dragon with anything other than an eye of ender and ride him! The dragon has no inventory, pressing E (or your inventory button) will just bring up the player inventory. Once ridden the dragon can be controlled but is ridiculously slow. Moving at only 1 meter per 2 seconds. The reason for this is that he must hop to move because he is in an egg. The egg has a jump meter just like horses and when charged fully it can jump 4 blocks high. When in the air. It will glide just like a chicken down and take no fall damage. But simply just riding on the ground is not the full purpose of the dragon. Read on to the "Gliding" section to see more!'
Gliding: So, it'd be way too overpowered to just be able to fly. So instead, we must glide! When at a high altitude, or even just when jumping, the egg will glide slowly down like a chicken and take no fall damage. This also works when you are riding it. You can not jump when gliding to get higher altitude. So the purpose of this would be to have an epic view, or maybe to get down from a high place. Note that if you have another animal on a lead and you start gliding, the other animal would use the gliding effect as well, and if you leaded the egg while riding something else, it'd work somewhat as a parachute. So you could be riding a horse and lead up the egg and jump off a cliff and the egg would parachute you. Also, when the Egg jump, before it starts to glide, it can hover around for about 3 seconds before it starts gliding. If it is not being leaded and nobody to riding it, then it can hover for about 6 seconds before gliding. While hovering, it will move at about 2 m/s. (Hovering suggested by Coga19000)
Revival: Since you can only obtain the Egg once. If it dies, it will have a 100% chance of dropping a Dead Egg. The Dead Egg looks like a Dragon Egg but it is cracked. You can still place it down but if an Endermite attacks it it will not hatch again, you have to revive it. To revive it, you must surround the Dead Egg with Eye of Enders. It will then turn back into the Dragon Egg, and you can have an Endermite attack it and you can tame it again. This also opens the possibilty of people stealing the Baby Dragons away from you on servers. (Base Idea for Revival suggested by DinoShark32)
So that's really it! I hope you like it! Tell me what you think of some features I'm thinking of in the poll. Leave your thoughts below!

TheKentington posted a message on Thaumic Horizons v1.1.9 (Thaumcraft 4 addon)The Basics
Thaumic Horizons is a Thaumcraft 4 addon aimed at creating new uses for familiar mechanics. You may attach arcane lenses to enhance your Goggles of Revealing, mix essentia with your own blood to create potion-like effects, or even discover a method of applying infusions to living creatures...
Content
If the screenshots below don't whet your appetite, expand this spoiler for a full list of features.
- Arcane Lenses: Choose between night vision, the ability to see through one layer of blocks, viewing creatures through walls, or automatically scanning blocks under your crosshairs! They can easily be swapped onto your Goggles of Revealing or similar items.
- Wand Focus: Containment: Shrink creatures and store them in warded jars!
- Biological Alchemy: Grow crops in the blink of an eye, duplicate a slab of meat, or even transform chunks of defeated zombies into useful leather.
- Blood Alchemy: Mix essentia with your own blood to create potion-like injections. If splash potions are more your style, you can also create blast phials to shower foes in your enchanted blood. Or perhaps you'd like to deliver syringes from long range with the Injector, a thaumium crossbow.
- Curative Vat: A glass tank which uses small doses of essentia to rapidly heal you or your creatures. With further research it can also be used as a cloning device, or as the basis of the infusion vat...
- Creature Infusion: Transform common livestock into all-new beings like the Endersteed, Ore Boar, and Guardian Panther, or simply augment the abilities of (almost) any living thing with Quicksilver Limbs, Runic Hide, and more!
- Soul Sieve: Extract soul fragments from soulsand and feed them to a jarred brain for experience, or toss them into the Inspiratron for knowledge fragments. Once you discover the Soulforge, you'll even be able to reconstruct human souls and clone villagers.
- Self-Reincarnation: Stick a soul beacon atop your curative vat and you'll be whisked into a clone body upon your death - with no loss of experience or permadeath! You should also consider building a mirrored amulet to ensure that your inventory is spat out of a magic mirror in friendly territory.
- Wand Focus: Animation: Create temporary golems out of (almost) any block! They'll fight for you during their brief existence, or you can convert them to permanent golems by adding an animation core.
- Wand Focus: Illumination: As long as you've got the vis, you'll never need a torch again! Plus, dyeable orbs of light look a good deal more magical.
- Wand Focus: Liquefaction: Smelt blocks and items in the world, or even slowly transmute stone to lava.
- Alchemite: A magical explosive which shatters blocks into crystallized essentia. Don't let the blast hit a node!
- Wand Focus: Disintegration: Convert blocks and creatures into crystallized essentia.
- Node Monitor: Emits a redstone signal when any aspect in a node falls to 1 or below.
- Shard Transmutation: Convert a balanced shard to an ordinary shard of any aspect.
- Ethereal Shard: Capable of binding ethereal essence to itself, this floating crystal acts as a synthetic aura node when charged with centivis. But you'll need a lot of essence if you want high capacity!
- Vis Dynamo: Portable power for your vis network! This nifty device streams centivis out from your wand. With further research, you can also make it operate on essentia...
- Self-Infusion: Design the perfect body, then reincarnate into it for superhuman abilities like the Silverwood Heart, Spider Climb, and Warped Tumor!
This young ocelot is about to become a man through the power of thaumaturgy. (And by man, I mean freakish mage-beast)
Cactus and cake - not exactly traditional golemancy materials.
A collection of jarred specimens!
What is this infernal device, and what is doing to the souls of the dead?
I can't possibly see how mixing essentia with your own blood could go badly...

Hex_27 posted a message on Aqua BiomePosted in: SuggestionsWith the new update, there's quite some enchantments that are based on water, like Aqua Strider and things like that. So I think a new Aqua Biome would come in handy.
In that biome, it is all water. Everything is under water. It is simply a gigantic ocean. There are underwater trees, underwater plants, under water villages. Water temples with the elder guardians and guardians are more likely to spawn here. A terrain that is made up of ice, dirt, stone... and a new block, Aqua gel. It looks something like the super-flat water generation. Villagers would look different and have the ability to defend themselves. A new mob type, I name them Raiders, will occasionally raid villages, attempting to kill the water villagers (Information below) The terrain would be like plains, but the floor will be Aqua gel or Aquastone, ice, dirt, stone.... There will be a new ore in this biome, Prismarine ores, another new block. Block explanations below.
Raider info20 health points (10 hearts)
deals:
Easy:3 hearts
Normal: 4 hearts
Hard: 5 hearts
of damage.
Image will be worked on... But what I'm thinking is like something like a guardian, but without the eye. Raiders have their spikes out all the time, but do not have a "thorns" effect like guardians. Raiders travel aggressively towards the nearest villager, max range is 500 blocks. One Raider will kill about 3 Villagers before it runs off, despawning. If a player is closer to the Raider than the villager, Raiders will target the player instead. This is to prevent players from using Raiders to find aqua villages. Unlike guardians, raiders will die when out of water.
Aqua Villager info20 health points (10 hearts)
deals:
Easy: 2 hearts
Normal: 3 hearts
Hard: 4 hearts
of damage.
Image will be worked on... Aqua villagers can defend themselves, and they will only attack the player when provoked. When provoked, all villagers in a large radius will charge at the player to make him leave the village, or kill him. Aqua villagers will drop leather helmets with respiration and boots with aqua strider. Baby aqua villagers will hide when village is under siege by Raiders. When a Raider or a player who provoked the villagers gets in a 5 block radius of a baby aqua villager, the aqua villagers will target the threat more quickly and aggressively.Aqua villages are spheres made out of half sponge half air blocks. These spheres contain the main village. The village has some buildings, some out of normal villages, some totally different. Here are the buildings I've planned:
Small Housing- Just a small house, made of Prismarine bricks and stained blue glass.
Large Housing- A large house. Made of Prismarine bricks, Dark Prismarine, stained glass and lapis lazuli
Enchantment arena- A circular floor of obsidian with one enchantment table in the middle. The enchantment table will have a large chance of enchanting water-related things on items.
Worshipping Alter- A small building, something like the top of a jungle temple, but made with prismarine and dark prismarine. When there is a guardian or elder guardian in the alter, and when there is no threat in the village, the villagers will go to the alter and idle around until the guardian/elder guardian leaves.
Blacksmith- Also made with prismarine. It will be in the model of an ordinary blacksmith, just no slabs anywhere. Windows are stained, and the chest is still inside. The floor is wood instead of cobble.
Block info:Aqua gel: Aqua gel is a bluish, almost like water, but opaque block. The difference between Aqua gel and lapis blocks is that the texture will be constantly moving, like water. Falling onto Aqua gel will neutralize all fall damage, but will not bounce you at all. Aqua gel can only be obtained with silk touch. Aqua gel emits some light, around as weak as a torch.
Prismarine ore: A new ore type that drops Prismarine crystals when mined. The texture resembles diamond ore, but the light blue portions are aqua-blue. Only will be generated in aqua dimension.
Aquastone: Resembles the texture of cobblestone, just that it is blue in colour. It is not as useful as cobblestone, as it is a fragile material and cannot be used to craft tools or anything else. Aquastone has not much purpose, other than decoration uses.
Seaweed: An edible plant, seaweed looks something like long grass, except a lot taller. Seaweed grows like sugarcane, except that it has to be submerged and can only be planted on Aqua gel or dirt. Breaking one seaweed block causes the top part of break, like sugarcanes. Eating seaweed heals for 1 hunger (I mean 1 drumstick icon), but will add one air bubble to your breath.
Coral: Corals generate either in small clumps or in large reefs. Corals are a colourful plant that is in the rough shape of an enderdragon egg, but multicoloured. Large reefs will allow more raiders and guardians to spawn, but not elder guardians. Fishing near corals in a 5x5 radius (yes you can fish underwater in this dimension, even thought it makes no sense) gives you a larger hook rate, and also a higher chance of clownfish, salmon and pufferfish. Destroying corals may drop some Prismarine shards or Coral item. Coral item is a decorative item, and can only be placed in a pot. Silk touch can harvest corals. Corals can be placed on any block, but it must be submerged. Corals generate randomly throughout the dimension
Elder Coral: Has the same attributes to coral, but drops Magic Essence instead of coral item. Magic Essence can be forged with equipment in an anvil to repair it. Forging a piece of unused/full health equipment will enchant it with unbreaking 1-2. Silk touch does not harvest Elder Corals. These corals only generate near water temples or village alters. In creative, Elder Corals can be placed like a normal block and does not require water. Fishing near Elder Corals (5x5 radius) gives the player a higher chance of getting treasure/ trash. More likely trash

Lothrazar posted a message on [outdated] Abandoned modsPosted in: Minecraft ModsUpdate July 10, 2015:
I have resumed modding, and I am up to date with Minecraft Forge 1.8. All my current mod releases are at CurseForge here . Most of them are derived from, or are direct ports of the mod features from this post
OLD Minecraft 1.7.10 mod listed below (the download is still in there too)
Update Sept 7 2014 : Instead of one giant mod, now each feature has its own individual mod install.
Update: Sept 9 2014 : Two new mods released, Ender Command and Simple Waypoints
All my mods in one thread.
I made theses mod to give me all the powers I have always wanted in in vanilla. The goal is to install these mods, build and play, and then keep
the world long term even after these mods are uninstalled or if minecraft updates. It was balanced and tested
with single player survival in mind so I could build cool stuff. There are things to save time and make grindy things
more convenient, things to make the early game harder, and stuff to power you up in the end game.
Each of these mods is a separate download and install, and each requires Forge 1.7.10.
RunestonesDownload
Inspired by the runestone items from Diablo 2. These give you buffs that persist as long as they are equipped on the 9th slot of your hotbar. Their durability is drained as long as it is equipped, and it turns back into a Nether Star after it runs out completely.
Jump Boost V
Resistance II
Hunger I
Health Boost V (10 extra hearts)
Hunger I
Haste II
Weakness II
Water Breathing V
Night Vision II
*Lets you walk & run up full blocks just like a horse does
Hunger I
Speed II
Fatigue II
Fire Resist I
Weakness II
Fatigue II
*Lets you fly in survival, but does not remove fall damage. (You can only start flying while standing on the ground, meaning that if you fall off anything, you cannot start to fly while falling to save yourself)

Difficulty Tweaks - no punching wood, stone tools require smoothstone, and more
Download
Adds a bunch of small tweaks to the game that are all aimed at increasing the difficulty of the first few days.
You cannot punch trees; you must turn saplings into sticks, and sticks into a damaged wooden axe.
All stone tools require smoothstone instead of cobblestone.
Furnace requires one coal in center to craft (so you may not get a furnace or stone tools on your first day; try making wooden tools and finding food first).
You cannot gather dirt, grass, sand, clay, or gravel by hand (you can still break them by hand, but need a shovel to harvest the block).
Sleeping in a bed will drain your hunger down and also gives you the rotten flesh hunger effect.
Then, you should probably make a full set of wooden tools, because all stone tools now require smoothstone instead of cobble.
Also, furnaces require one coal in the middle to craft.
So that stone tech is a little bit harder to get.
Debug Extras - Detect slime chunks, villagers, horse speed and jump height.
Download
By default, this turns off the normal debug screen, which hides your coordinates (I find not knowing your exact location makes the game much more interesting and challenging).
As always you can change this in the config file, and if you do the rest of the debug info will still be shown below that.
Time of day will show : Morning, Mid-day, Afternoon, or Night.
The right side only shows game rules that are 'true'.
Slime Chunk detection:
There will be a message if you are in a Slime Chunk of your world - no more using calculators or third party tools to find this out, you dont even need to know your seed!
Village Info is only shown if you are in or near a village.
Command to add custom reminders:
/todo reminder sentence
Will save the reminder sentence text as your to-do list, which is displayed on the right side of the screen.
If you use it again, you will replace the message.
But, you can use the + symbol to add extra text to your message, as such
/todo + and also this.
To remove the message:
/todo -
Master Wand - Harvest crops, makes spawn eggs, finds spawners and more
Download
Every action with this wand costs one durability, and uses some hunger too.
Turn mobs into Spawn Eggs:
Right click on a passive mob to turn it into a spawn egg.
Only works on (non-baby) Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Chickens, Mooshrooms, and Bats.
Warning: does not save the color of the sheep.
Magic Crop Harvesting:
Right click on wheat, carrots, or potatoes, and it will harvest and replant the whole field for you. All items are dropped right on the player.
Chest Transportation:
Right click on a chest will convert that chest into a 'Sack of Holding', which magically holds items from the chest. This cannot
hold anything with NBT data such as enchantments, so those items get spat out before the chest is removed.
Then you can hit the Sack of Holding on the ground and the chest will be back, with the items in the same spot.
Now With Sorting : Hit a chest with a sack of holding and it will try to sort the sacks items into the chest. Does not fill empty spaces,
only tries to match existing items in the chest (so if a chest has three slots with 1 dirt each, it will try to fill those with dirt from the sack but will not put dirt elsewhere.)
Diamond ProspectingHit the wand on smoothstone to prospect for nearby diamond ores. This only searches up to 8 blocks away horizontally. This should make your branch mining slightly more efficient, but not too overpowered.
Dungeon Finding:
If you hit the wand on a diamond block (left click), the wand will search a 128 block area for nearby spawners. This will
not tell you the exact coordinates, only the distance you are from the spawner.Fishing Net Block - Automate your Fish Catching
Download
Place this block so it is surrounded by water, and so it has 2 water blocks below it. It will randomly spawn a fish in the world, just as if you used a fishing rod.
It will not give any of the trash/treasure that fishing rods give (no nametags or books).
So just plain fish, salmon, clownfish, pufferfish with the same rarity chances as a fishing rod.
Ender Book - holds survival waypoints for teleportation
Download
Recipe:
The book can hold 9 locations, one for each hotbar slot.
If you sneak and right-click holding this, you will save the current location in the book. It will be saved based on
its location in the hotbar slot.
Then left-click to teleport to the saved location.
So you have to hold the book in the far right of the hotbar to save (or teleport to) location 9,
THEN hold it in the next one over to save (or teleport to) location 8.Cave Finder - XRay Block
Download
Suggested for single player only! You should probably disable this in competitive multiplayer.
Lets you see through the world.
You can do this in vanilla with pistons and glowstone/redstone blocks, or with chunk loading lag, this just makes it easier.
Very useful when looking for hidden unexplored caves.Magic Apples - just like golden apples
Download
The chocolate apple is a great early game food that gives some advanced buffs. The others are upgrades to golden apples
Chocolate apple gives:
0:30 of Speed II
0:30 of Haste II
Lapis apple gives:
5:00 of Night Vision II
5:00 of Water Breathing II
5:00 of Absorption II
Diamond apple gives:
5:00 of Health Boost V (more hearts)
5:00 of Fire Resistance II
5:00 of Resistance II
0:20 of Regen II
Emerald apple gives:
5:00 of Haste II
5:00 of Speed
5:00 of Absorption IISurvival Command Blocks - affect weather and some game rules in survival
Download
These are recommended for single player only, as anyone can use them even if cheats are turned off and you are not a server OP
(not shown: doDaylightCycle crafted with Glowstone Block)
Unlike regular command blocks, you cannot edit the text to execute an arbitrary command.
The weather block will execute /toggledownfall
The gamerule blocks will toggle their gamerule in the world. Not every gamerule (that would be overpowered).Keybinding : Inventory Sliders to swap tools and items vertically
Download
Pressing these keys will shift the items above the current items hotbar slot up or down.
This sounds weird, but it is very convenient for easily switching tools, weapons, and building blocks.
For example, I use this by having building blocks in slots 5 though 9, and then variations above it. So if I have 9 selected with stone bricks, above it in my inventory I would have stairs, slabs, and maybe dirt. Pressing these keys will swap out the block selected without opening my inventory.
Inspired by this reddit post
Builder's Unity Tweaks - more alterations to the game that do not add any new items or blocks.
Command - Item Search - search all nearby chests
/itemsearch
For example, if you type /itemsearch dirt, and you have 20 chests near by, 2 of them containing dirt, it will direct you
towards those chests.
Has a range of 32 blocks in all direction.
Useful if something gets lost / misplaced your storage room.
Extra Crafting Recipes
Extra recipes for vanilla items: (Some of these recipes are the same as what is in the new 1.8 version of the game. )
Craft all the skulls
Transmute records
You can also smelt stone brick into cracked brick.
Name a player head using a sign
First, place a sign down where the player name you want is the first word on the top line.
Then, hold the player head in your hand and hit it on the sign.
Then it should say "Name's Head", and if you place it it will have that skin (if connected).
Remember, you can do things like a blaze head using MHF_Blaze.
Uncrafting - recycle your stuff
Almost every item can be smelted or broken down into its component parts.
It is fair whenever possible, such as five iron from a minecart. For tools and armor, it must be fully repaired.
For items like pistons, it will give only the redstone or iron.
See imgur album below. Not every recipe has an image here, just a few are shown as examples.
ender pearl
egg
snowball
cookie
mushroom stew
boat
all minecarts
all doors
cake
saddle
horse armor
empty bucket
bed
all records
Improved Ender Chest
Allows you to access the chest inventory without placing it.
Just hold it in your hand and hit it on something (left click).
Lets you carry it and use it like a backpack without having to have a silk touch pick to constantly place it and pick it up again.
Improved Bonemeal
You know how bonemeal will grow those 2 tall flowers like rose bushes? Well now it works on all flowers.
So, bonemeal on a tulip or daisy will grow you a new one.
Also works on lilypads.
Ender Item saver - only for Dragon Slayers
If you have the Achievement from killing the dragon, then every time you die the mod tries to save your items into your ender chest inventory.
You do not have to have an ender chest item in your inventory for this to work.
It also puts priority on diamond related items.
If there is not enough room, your items drop as normal.
This even works if you fall off the world (the void in the end).Ender Command
Download
New command, simply type /enderchest and it will open your ender inventory without having an ender chest.
A little overpowered in survival, but a nice little help in creative mode.
Suggested here
Simple Waypoints
Download
Track waypoints in survival without a full minimap mod or any teleport access. Use the command /simplewp or just /wp.
Modes:
/wp save [name] : save your current location as a waypoint, with an optional display name. Each waypoint is numbered
/wp list : list all currently saved waypoints in chat.
/wp show : Give a number and it will display the name and distance to the waypoint at the top of the screen. (Use the config file to change from left to the right side). Shows always at the top where the F3 info would go.
/wp hide : stop showing the waypoint
/wp delete : Delete the waypoint that was currently selected by show
You can have waypoints in any dimension
Example: In a new game, type
/wp save myspawn
then
/wp display 1
At the top of the screen, it will show your name 'myspawn' and the distance to the waypoint.
Suggested here
Modpacks:
Feel free to include it in anything as long as you let me know so I can link to it.

Skippey17 posted a message on *= Cloud Block =* *= A New Redstone Tool =*Posted in: SuggestionsWhat it looks like
It it wool-like with a puffy texture around it, I am not very good at describing it.
What does it do?
It can be walked on, but if it has a redstone signal you can walk through it. The redstone signal would power all the cloud blocks connected to it. So with 1 lever you could power 10 cloud blocks or more. Unlike the iron trapdoor you could power more than one at a time. It is optional though, in the menu there would be a button so they can or cannot use Cloud Blocks in case of extreme lag due to a clock or too many cloud blocks at a time.
How do you craft it?
It would be crafted with 1 redstone in the middle and 8 snowballs surrounding it. Simple as that
How can it be used?
They could also be helpful for maps because you could make games were you had to get a button or lever to power a group of cloud blocks and go through to win. These cloud blocks also work as a redstone signal. It would NOT power redstone, if the signal is lost any player stuck in it would suffocate exactly like sand or gavel.

Endergirl00 posted a message on Cape IdeaPosted in: SuggestionsNow before I say anything else, NO. No I'm not suggesting this for petty reasonings or because I want one oh so badly! Secondly, the reason I am doing this is to give cape suggestions a little reputation. Because so far, I haven't seen one good one. This suggestion, which is more of like an idea, is to see what you guys agree on and what you think. Please don't state to me saying "If you want a cape, go to Minecon or Donate to Optifine" because I am aware of the variety of ways to earn one, this is mostly about discussion and what you think, not of how to earn it.
Now that that is out of the way, here is my idea. Remember those Scroll capes? Those little capes with the scroll symbol imbedded into it, giving to every single Minecraft player? But after two days, did those capes go away. So here is what I was thinking, why not implement that idea several times into Minecraft?
Specific holidays or days where capes would be given to all Minecraft players, but then disappear under a time limit. There could be one for Notch's birthday, or to celebrate the day Minecraft came out to the public. Maybe there could also be some during April Fool updates or maybe even a large update that is in the work of Minecraft, or when during the Minecon event or so. But remember, they will have a very short time limit, spanning around 1-5 days, then will soon disappear. And this will not always appear every year or once a year, but randomly throughout a different year. This keeps the cape's recognition and rarity like it should be.
These capes could have different, yet simple designs on them. Such as how the current capes are. Maybe one could be represent the grass block, one of Minecraft's symbolic blocks. Perhaps a weapon, preferably an diamond sword or iron sword, which is also symbolic about Minecraft. Different cape designs would vary depending on what type of event Mojang hosts.
There would be a large con with these capes. One where players would begin to suggest or complain about adding, suggesting, or making new capes for different holidays rather than the usual Minecraft events and such. But maybe with the how these temporary capes are (seeing that a usual player may have it once for every one or two years) may lower the chance of that happening. But I'm no psychic, of how to prevent this.
Please let me know what you think, I've had this idea for a while and I would like to know what you think about it.

Alexcamostyle posted a message on Make fireworks easier to craft!Posted in: Suggestionsundefined
Fireworks are useless in survival. I mean, have any of you ever even created one firework? They cost a lot of resources, and they're only there for around 3 seconds, so what's the point? That's where this suggestion comes in.

Why would it be? Fireworks aren't weapons. They don't do anything besides look pretty. So why should it be sohard to craft them? -

Xenophobia_Lord posted a message on The Sawmill - A new way to cut wood! (Crafting recipes) + (Custom Pics)Posted in: SuggestionsI recently had an idea for a new block while trying to think of ways to manipulate wood in Minecraft.
The block is named the sawmill, and looks like this.
(Credit goes to fic18 for this image! View his Art Gallery suggestion linked below, which is highly recommended and endorsed by me!)
The sawmill can receive redstone power from the bottom or any of the four sides. When powered, the blade on top would begin spinning, and a distinguishable whirring noise will come from it until it is cut off from the power source. While it's in it's powered state, mobs and players that stand on top of it would take 2 hitpoints of damage per second (twice that of a cactus), making it effective in a trap. Its primary use, however, is naturally the cutting of wood. When a log block of any type is present in the space above the sawmill (while it's in its powered state), the block would break after three seconds and six planks of the log's type would fall around the sawmill, thus making it an effective alternative to crafting logs into planks... assuming one is present. Nothing happens when other blocks are placed on top of it, except for wooden planks, which break into two wooden half-slabs, and sand/gravel, both of which break over the sawmill and drop as an item.
This is the crafting recipe for the Sawmill and Sawmill blade, the latter of which is required to craft the former. (The oak planks in both recipes can be any type) (The iron block in the Sawmill recipe represents the Sawmill blade) The intended use of this is to have one available in your home sometime mid-tier. If you were crafting logs at home, you would use this so that you might get more wood. However, if you were in the wilderness, or mining, the crafting grid is a much more convenient option. It could also be used to automate tree farms, I imagine, although I'm no expert on factorization in Minecraft.
So, it's a good tool for the average survival player, a useful block for the experienced tree farmer, and a brutal executioner for the resourceful trapper. I've spent a few hours thinking about this, and I've tried to make this as balanced and fitting as possible. Suggestions, criticism and friendly discussion is welcome and encouraged, and of course, thank you for reading.
Also check out fic18's Art Gallery idea, linked here. It's great and deserves much support! http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2226184-painting-stand-and-easel-50-supports-so-far

Snowviraptor posted a message on Orca: The predator of the 21 seas! Now with a new model!A lot of people think sharks should be in Minecraft. Minecraft seems to be doing the not so "mainstream" mobs. (Ocelots, bats) So I Personally think orcas should be added instead. They look like this:Posted in: Suggestions
(Credit to Koopachris for model concept!)
The orca is a neutral mob that will attack for two reasons:
1.You stay in it's view for more than 40 seconds.
2.You attack it.
It has 3 main ways of attacking, it does 4 hearts of damage per hit:
1. The orca will swim towards you, and do damage on hit. This attack is similar to the enderdragons, and it runs when hit, but it obeys gravity.
2. The orca can break ice, and will attempt to jump out of the water to surprise you.
An example of this attack is here:
This will get you in to the water, where you are slow, and weak.
3. The orca will jump on to a beach, and wriggle it's way back on to land. It can jump up to 10 blocks onto land. Example:
More information:
The orca has 30 hearts, but it is not too common.
It can break boats like most mobs.
It has a 1/75 chance to spawn in ocean (per chunk), and a 1/40 chance to spawn in frozenocean (Which would be made to generate again). It spawns like most hostile/ neutral mobs.
it normally swims 5-10 blocks below sea level.
It can see through ice.
It will hunt squids, and maybe even fish occasionally.
They can be named with name tags if you would like an orca enclosure.
Drops:
1-2 Raw Fish
0-2 Salmon
0-2 Pufferfish
0-1 Clownfish (Has anyone else noticed how rare this useless item is?)
0-2 ink sacs.
Thank you for reading my suggestion. If you don't like it, don't just say: "No support" Give me a reason like: "I don't like the trees, No Support." So that I can improve the suggestion. -

Talist posted a message on Ardent Ore, an ore that actually doesn't add a new tool tier.I've seen several suggestions where the suggester says something like "Add adamantine ore thats a little rarer than redstone and you make it into new armor and tools! ... What do you mean what else? Thats it. New armor and tools." So I'd like to suggest a material that actually can't be made into tools or armor and has actually creative uses. Unfortunately, I don't know how to add screen shots of custom crafting recipes, so text will have to do. This is my first suggestion, so please tell me all the formatting stuff I've done wrong.Posted in: Suggestions
Ardent Ore is found in the Nether at a rate slightly rarer than redstone is in the over world. It tends to be found near lava pools. It constantly radiates heat, so it would be stupid to make it into armor. Breaking it causes it to disintegrate into 1-4 pieces of ardent dust, modified by fortune of course. In addition, mining a naturally generated ore has a chance tospawn either a blaze or a small magma cube.explode with a random amount of power, but around the strength of a ghast fireball. If you surroundan iron ingota piece of Nether Quartz with four pieces of ardent dust, you get one Ardent Quartz, which is used for many of the crafting recipes.
If you make a compass but replace the iron with ardent quartz, it makes a fiery compass, which points towards the closestNether Fortress while in the Nether or the closest Nether Portal while in the over world.Nether portal if you are in the Nether or the Over world. If you're in the end, it just spins randomly like a normal compass does in the Nether.
Edit - Combining a piece of ardent dust with some magma cream and an ender pearl makes an eye of flame. It works like a Nether variant of an eye of ender. Throwing it causes it to travel towards the closest Nether Fortress.
You can make an ardent firestarter by either combining a current flint and steel with 4 ardent dust or by combining a flint with a piece of ardent quartz. This works like a normal flint and steel, butlights a larger radius on fire.creates special white fire. White fire acts a little differently from normal fire. It burns blocks and entities for a much shorter time but also spreads much faster, so it creates a ring shape of expanding fire. Can be quite powerful, but you can also catch yourself on fire rather easily.
Combining nine pieces of ardent quartz makes an ardent block, which can be used for decoration. However, it constantly acts as though it is constantly on fire, damaging entities and lighting other nearby flammables on fire.
You can make a bucket out of ardent quartz, which makes an ardent bucket. It can hold two blocks of lava in it but in exchange cannot hold any water. Trying to pick up water will just destroy the block, which can be useful for clearing out ponds.
Using the comparator recipe but placing a full durability ardent firestarter at the bottom middle will make a sparker, which is a block similar to a comparator or repeater. When the back of it is powered, it will output to one of the other three sides randomly. It doesn't output to sides that aren't connected to anything though. I feel like Minecraft really needs an actual randomizer. Right now, to make one it takes about a 4x4x3 space. Sometimes that space just isn't available for compact mechanisms.
Edit- Combining ardent dust with blaze powder creates 4 flame sparks. Flame sparks work as lighting, but not like you might think. They can be placed as free floating light sources that are very difficult to see. They start out as as flame spark:7. This means that the spark will emit light level 7 by default. However, you can surround a piece of glowstone with flame sparks to increase the light level they produce when placed by one, up to a maximum of 15. The same thing can be done with redstone to lower the light level they produce, down to a minimum of 1. Or, glow/red stone blocks can be used to make crafting it faster. I always thought there should be a way to control the light level of large buildings easier.Combining ardent dust and an awkward potion makes a shining potion. When drunk, it increases the detection radius for all mobs, making it easier for them to see you. In addition, it causes them to prioritize attacking you over other targets in their detection radius. This might seem useless, and it kinda is for survival. However, it allows for one person to be the "tank" if playing in multiplayer. You can also splash it onto wolves and iron golems to turn them into meat shields. Also, this is useful for map makers to encourage teamwork. Or, they can use it for defend NPC X type maps. This effect doesn't cause mobs that are normally neutral to each other to suddenly start attacking each other.
Corrupting the effect with a fermented spider eye creates an obscurity potion, which does the opposite of a shining potion. It reduces the detection radius for mobs and makes them more likely to attack other targets. Finally, I have a few ideas for random, other uses.
Ardent dust can fuel furnaces, providing310 items worth of burn time.
Or, the dust can fuel furnace mine carts, causing them to go very fast for a few seconds.
Ardent dust can be placed like redstone. It conducts power, but only transfers from and to repeaters or other pieces of ardent dust. It also has a tendency to light nearby things on fire when powered. So it can either be used for compact mechanisms or for traps. - To post a comment, please login.
