posted a message on Honestly, what do slimes need to spawn?
Slimes (usually) need a large, open space near bedrock (and in a slime-spawning zone, assuming those zones are still active) to spawn. Generally, though, it's fairly random.

Also the sizes of slimes are tiny (.5x.5), small (1x1), large (2x2), & huge (larger), according to the old naming conventions (which I still use, personally).

Seems like quite an amazing idea. I would love to sign up for the Beta test, and (if everything works out ;3 ) will likely use this to host the downloads for my Mega Projects. :biggrin.gif:

I would first recommend iron or stone as a propeller material, as it usually looks best. As for the size & design of the prop, it really depends on just how big the airship is, but this basic design usually looks good:

Nice design. I prefer a room thay has the chests in plain sight, though.

don't remember anyone asking for your opinion

Dude, sharing opinions are what the forums are FOR. This is a thread meant to share how different people do mass storage, and everyone is entitled to their opinions. I, myself, also prefer to have my chests in full view.

First played it back in June '09, in early Creative. Proceded to forget about it (bloody college...), then came back in November '09, and bought it in Indev the day before Rana was removed.
Yet I never got to see Rana myself.
Stupid me for waiting a day...

This has actually been known for quite a long time. It's a bug Minecraft's had for a while, and simply hasn't been fixed yet (assuming it even can... I'm not a Java programmer, so I don't know).

The feeling that minecraft was better before probably stems from you being bored by minecraft now as you have played it too much, not from the new content.

Have you ever had the chance to play Survival Test, the no respawn, get a score Survival?
Have you had the fun of playing the old Indev with limited supplies at you disposal on you sole island?
The floating island maps where it was nearly impossible to get to an island below you without a lot of luck?
The hell maps where water was lava and mobs spawned ALL DAY LONG?
Ever had the joy of exploring a cave flooded with finite water?
Experience the joy as so many awesome features, now taken for granted, were added to a standing ovation?
Ever get to have a starting house pre-built for you at your spawn? And end up laughing as you spawned on a floating island map... 20 blocks away from the nearest island?
Get to play on a small Indev map and fight to survive as a lava volcano slowly fills up the map?

    No, I thought not. :wink.gif:
Course, these days are just as fun, but it's nice to have been here to see how much the game has changed, and to have enjoyed every step along the way. :3

It was, quite obviously, a creeper. I noticed in that video you provided that the hallway there by the glass window was pretty dark, so it's very likely that a creeper spawned there. A creeper could have also possibly spawned by your chests, as that area is fairly dark, as well. I would suggest using more torches when you rebuild. :wink.gif:

Play Minecraft like I play SimCity.
First the gigantic structure & centerpiece of the city, then the roads & transportation, then the houses & commerce, then the industrial buildings, and then community & government buildings. (Utilities not included)
And yes, that is how I build my cities in SImCity. Works surprisingly well for me.

posted a message on Efficient Mass Storage Designs
I always store my items in warehouses, like this guy:

This is Warehouse 10. It has 61 large chests worth of storage space spread out on two floors. The bottom floor is for bulk items like cobble, sand, dirt, & gravel, while the top floor is for everything else. The top floor also has 12 furnaces for smelting stuff.

I usually design my warehouses to have the chests in rows, or hugging the walls if the room is smaller. I generally split everything up into categories, like so:
    Dirt
    Sand & Glass
    Gravel & Flint
    Cobblestone
    Smooth Stone
    Mob Drops
Tools (also includes chests, workbenches, and furnaces)
    Buckets
    Armor
Ores (split into Iron & Gold)
Ingots & Metal Blocks (Iron & Gold)
    Diamond & Odsidian
    Coal
Mechanics (includes redstone, iron doors, buttons, pressure plates, minecarts, ect)
Flora (includes flowers, saplings, seeds, pumpkins, ect)
Food Products (split into meat, bread & wheat, mushrooms & soup, and misc)
    Trunks (raw wood)
Wood Products (includes planks, sticks, stairs, wood doors, boats, ect)
Stone Products (includes half-steps, mossy cobble, stone stairs)
    Hell Blocks
    Misc (for everything else)

I also have two other slightly smaller warehouses, Warehouse 1 & 7 (7 being on the same map as 10 up there). I also have a Warehouse 4 on a discontinued map of mine.

AND I'm building a massive NEW warehouse in the same world as 10 & 7 because I'm running out of room. By my estimations it'll have around 500 double chests in it.
    Or more.
For that warehouse, I actually have a complex floor plan that has crisscrossing paths and what-not. It's quite difficult to explain, really.

no but seriously, pretty sweet so far. (started reading this when it was just prologue)

    Thanks. ^^

I actually feel I could have written the prologue a lot better, but then again, I'm always that way about my prologues. If I start trying to make it better, I'll never finish anything, so I'll just leave it be and get to writing the good stuff. :wink.gif:

This is a work of fiction, meant to create a story about how everything in Minecraft got to be the way it is. From the purpose of the Nether, to why chickens are evil, to what Herobrine is really doing, I will cover it all. So come follow the adventures of Steve? as he lives through the history of Minecraftia.

This story is written during my free time, so there is no set schedule for when I will be updating this. The story will start following Steve? in Part I, after the short prologue.

    Also, if you find a spelling or grammar mistake, please let me know ASAP, and I will fix it. Even though I'm a Grammar Nazi, I still mess up. A lot. ^^;

    *The Epic Tale of Minecraftia*
    By Coolpilot
    Prologue - Birth of Minecraftia
Long ago in the land of Swedeka, there lived two gamer brothers who shared an idea: to make a world made from cubes. Notch, the elder brother, made the land & sky, night & day, light & darkness. Hero, the younger brother, created the math & physics engines to run the world, and created the animals of the world with nothing but bits of numbers and a can of paint. Soon, the world was open to visitors, and the people came.

As more people immigrated into the land of Minecraftia, Notch & Hero continued to change the landscape & add new things to this great land of theirs. Torches to help people see at night. Redstone & mechanics to give the people some control over the world's physics. Beds to let people sleep. Pig spawners & wheat to allow for easy food gathering. Not everything turned out to be so good, though.

One day, when messing around with some dirt, Notch created Soul Sand (called 'Mud' by most), a mushy substance that slowed down all who walked on it, getting their shoes all dirty at the same time. When the people complained about the uselessness of the Soul Sand, Notch asked Hero to see if he could make something useful out of it, since Notch himself had no ideas on what to do with it. Being a master at creating animals, Hero attempted to create a pet, changing the Soul Sand into a green goo. Soon he had tiny, green slimes, which would follow their owners around wherever they went, being truly loyal pets.

Unfortunately, that too cause problems, for when two slimes ran into each other, they combined & grew, becoming big enough to accidentally absorb & kill the very people they were following. Knowing that something had to be done to stop people from dying from the slimes or getting dirty, Notch & Hero created the Nether, a land beyond The Void, to house their rejected blocks & animals. And so the Soul Sand & slimes were banished to the Nether, where the land was filled with lava & stone that would always stay lit on fire. Only one slime stayed in the over-world, as a pet to Hero.

And so life returned to it's usual course, with Notch & Hero creating many new blocks & animals.

    The peace would not last.
