Notch has admitted that the new spawning features need tweaking; he's said on his twitter that they need balancing. It's a fact: they spawn in areas that are just too well-lit; even at bedrock level you shouldn't need torches every freaking square.
Challenge is a big part of it, yeah. But not everyone's up for that. And it can get annoying.
I'm all for fixing the glitch and implementing a booster block. I think that'd be amazing. Just don't fix the glitch until the block is done; I don't want to be without my carts.
Can someone list some info on how crafting using watches and fishing rods works? Also, has anyone figured out how many new blocks there are, and what they do? I know there's new red gravelly stuff that burns forever, but that's all I know.
Also, if I reinstall a texture pack like painterly, will it still work with the update? Or will it screw with the nether because it doesn't have textures for the new blocks?
Look, lots of people think furries are creepy.
I sure as hell do; that stuff grosses me out to a huge degree.
But that's not relevant to the current conversation. What matters is that Doridian had a back door built secretly into his program, that he abused his power (banning someone from their own server for insulting you is absolutely an abuse of power), and that he now expects forgiveness. Maybe he can be forgiven, but not trusted.
Maxpm, the furry bit was trolling. Just a morsel of troll tacked on to the end of a legitimate post, however.
I'll also add that, for some reason, Doridian, you keep comparing your policies to those of Apple. I think that's a bit silly, but for the sake of argument, I'll take it. But would Steve Jobs ever remotely disable someone's Apple device because they insulted him? If someone saw Steve Jobs on the street and said "Hey dude, you suck", and he saw that they had an iPhone, could he legally have it disabled for that reason?
Of course not.
I'm gonna step away from this argument now. I think it's more ethical now that there's a TOS page. I still don't agree with it, and will not be using MCAdmin myself. To be honest, I don't think others should use it either, but I'm not going to hate on those who choose to, so long as they are aware of the risks involved. I also think it's terrible that this info didn't come out until somebody revealed it; this info on the "back door" should've been available as soon as it was implemented.
I love Minecraft, and, in general, I love people who love Minecraft. Happy playing. And Doridian, I respect your adding a TOS page, and I'm genuinely sorry if I offended you with the furry comment; I was just joking around. This is the internet, after all: I'm not gonna waste my time getting creeped out by furries when there's far more disturbing stuff out there.
Oh my god, that chat recording is INSANE.
He acts like he should be treated like some celebrity because he wrote a program that some people use for an indie game. Like you'd know his name. He had no right do do that. And what's with the sensitivity? "Why do you hate me"?
Based on what I've seen here and in other recent threads, MCAdmin is an unstable program, but it's not nearly as unstable as it's creator. I'd recommend uninstalling it, and I feel that, in light of this, it should be done away with entirely.
A quote from the MCAdmin terms of service:
"The Developers have permission to Disable your server's connection for whatever reason they see fit. This is not necessarily an issue. If your server has been disabled it is most likely because you have broken one of the rules stated here."
I guess this is what you get for trusting a furry.
Mod Edit: None of that, please. This is descrimination, and probably trolling, and I would like to not see any more of it.
OP EDIT: *discrimination.
I was trolling, and apologized in a later post.
My friends and I all have houses on a MP server, and we're having lots of fun. All our houses/buildings are grouped in a small townlike area, but we've done some exploring and widended the map. is there a way to "Delete" parts of the map we don't have stuff built in, but that we have explored, so that when the halloween update adds biomes they'll be able to re-gen?
I'm looking for a server mod/addon that will let me prevent normal players (non admins/OPs) from using teleport and give commands, but that is compatible with runecraft. I've got a server with a few friends, and we love runecraft, but some of them just love spamming obsidian.
My friends and I have put a lot of work into a server I've been running, and I'm worried about the wordl getting lost due to an error or something. Is there a way to back up the server? I back up my single player games by copy/pasting the worlds from my Minecraft Saves folder, but I don't know how to do with with MP.
if a friend and I are playing over a local network, and I'm hosting the game, and I'm using the painterly pack and my friend is using the quandary pack, will the game still run fine?

Although it did make me laugh for a solid minute.
I'm so conflicted!

I hope MCAdmin is done.
