posted a message on How to update all blocks in a chunk
So I now have LOTS of unupdated water blocks which I need to cause blockupdates for. Placing/removing blocks isn't really an option because there are way too much. Is there a way to cause block updates for all blocks in a chunk?

Packaging a .deb file should be generally pretty easy and I believe there is launchers for MC in the Ubuntu store, but really the steps you have to do to install java on Ubuntu/Linux are way, way easier than doing it on windows thanks to package managers

Personally, if you are finding this tedious, you haven't used Linux enough.

As if Linux is for geeks only.
If it's so extremely easy, than why is there a Windows version and a Mac version? Couldn't people just package their own .exe or .app? Yes, that's possible. But is it convienient? Nope. Why would that be different for Linux?

My classmate has Edubuntu on his NETBOOK an can run MC without Optifine on about 10 fps :D
So it is easy to run MC on Ubuntu.

Again *sigh* I know, but there should be a .deb.

It's incredibly easy to run minecraft on Ubuntu:
    1. Make sure java is installed (ie apt-get install default-jre)
    2. Make sure Minecraft.jar is executable (right-click, permissions and check the execute button or chmod 775 from the cli)
    3. Right click and open with the Java Runtime
Pretty easy compared to some stuff you have to do with linux.

Edit: Oh yeah, please don't start system wars in this thread, I will be watching.

I know, but there should be a .deb so it's easier, automatically installs Java (.deb files have the amazing dependency feature for that), and you can have it in your launcher. Yes, you can already have it in your launcher using a workaround, but, that should be unneeded.

About system wars: A system war started immediately after starting this thread, but everything related to system wars has been deleted now. :)

Trying to play games not supported by ubuntu isnt convenient in general.

Indeed. I wish Minecraft wasn't one of them. :(

Get a virtual machine and run either windows or mac on it, will work fine for Minecraft.

The .jar works fine too. The issue is that it isn't convenient.

Eeerh.... I think Ubuntu can work with .jar. I´m not sure, but if yes, no reason for making a brand new Minecraft.

There's no reason for making a brand new Minecraft, and I am not saying that.

Minecraft works fine with the .jar on Ubuntu. However, for Windows there is a .exe too, for Mac OS X there is a .dmg too, then why isn't there a .deb for Ubuntu? The .exe and the .dmg are basically wrappers around the .jar, and they could make a .deb without much trouble, too.

Please make an Ubuntu version of Minecraft!
At the moment, there's only the jar.

posted a message on I found an alternative to adf.ly, pays out much more
    (Am in the right section?)

    Hello modders,

I have found an alternative to adf.ly, it is called CoinURL and it pays out much more than adf.ly.

    http://coinurl.com

CoinURL pays out average $0.01 per click, which is much more than adf.ly's average $0.001.
They pay out in Bitcoins, but it's pretty easy to exchange them for euro's/dollars/etc.

So replace your adf.ly download links with CoinURL download links and make much more profit! :)
    Hope I helped!

(Sorry for the refferal link ;) )

Haha he has no right? HOW ABOUT HE OWNS THE SERVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah thats right, I host a server and I'll ban whoever I darn please.. You guys crack me up. Most server host pay to have a server up...and very few actually get donations (I know I have not received a cent for mine) So even if he bans the guy because he doesn't like some of the buildings he built... he has every right to.

Don't want to get banned? get your own server. You can host one from your own computer, 99% of the software is free.. don't have a good enough computer? shell out $15-$60/mo to get a server.
listening to all of you complain about how you got something for free then it was taken away?

I've banned people just because I didn't like them.

(And no I'm not 12, I'm 23...but the way I look at it, I shelled out the $800.00 for a comp to host the server, I pay the $80/mo for the internet, I pay the electric bill... I'll do what I want.)

So on your server you can get perma-banned for no reason? Then it must be a horrible server that you have.

If you don't want to get banned, there is another option then making your own server: Find a nice server and play there nicely!!!

Pro tip: People who make good owners/admins generally aren't found on public servers because we know better.

You want good server staff? Find a server that isn't pasting it's IP everywhere including bathroom walls just to inflate the ego of the owner with the player count. "I have 200 players! I'm so 1337!"

Public servers can have really nice staff.
