People keep mentioning this and my brother had the same problem. He solved it by telling MCEdit to use his non-Intel graphics card that was also installed. This has led me to believe that it may, possibly be a problem with newer Intel cards, (they had problems in the past) but nobody with this problem ever seems to state what card they have, even when the problem is clearly an issue with displaying graphics in some way.
So, if your machine has a non-Intel card tell it to use that. If you need them there are instructions how to do it in an earlier post of mine. If you only have Intel graphics then there's not much I can do, but could you please confirm what card you use as it would be nice to get more evidence (either way) and maybe proof that it is an Intel problem. That way the problem may get sorted. But until it can be narrowed down there's not mch hope.
I have this problem. There's this green grid about 20 blocks higher than the surface of my redstone-ready superflat world.
Whenever I'm beneath it, chunks around me disappear:
However, when I'm above it, the grid disappears and the ground looks normal:
I want to go near the ground to do stuff, but this prevents me from doing it.
When chunks don't show up in high detail like this, there will be a repeating error message in the console window and in the mcedit.log file. If you post the error message (I suggest using pastebin.com) then I might be able to find out what's going wrong.
If your textures are missing after updating to Minecraft 1.5, go to the Options in MCEdit and set the Skin setting to "[Default]". Normally it is set to "[Current]" which loads the textures from your currently selected texture pack.
evilsupahfly: Does that happen when you exit MCEdit normally, or only when it exits via crashing? It's supposed to remove everything under that folder after you save your changes. (BTW, it's not an undo folder, it's a scratch space folder for work in progress that hasn't been fully saved yet.)
Smartthinker: That's a known issue with Windows XP. All I can suggest is waiting for a fix or upgrading to Windows 7.
TikeRike: I only offer downloads for OS X 10.6 and up, and only for Intel macs. If you're nerdy enough you might be able to install MCEdit from its source code on OS X 10.5.8 on an older mac - see the readme on github for more info.
RyoOka: Thanks for the info. Will have a fix soon. The problem is that 'Copy Biomes' doesn't work with rotate or mirror. As a workaround, uncheck Copy Biomes while importing your buildings.
GameGuy: I think I fixed that one recently. Can you try the latest dev build (383) and tell me if it works?
RyoOka: Can you get the error traceback for that from the console window or the mcedit.log and post it here? The error reporter isn't working right now.
Hum, I was hoping to find something like a filter or a patch that would allow MCEdit to read modded blocks, but back-reading the topic, I found this is one of the possible features to be implemented in the program. Good to know.
Still, doesn't hurt to ask: is there any patch/filter or prototype of the next version that have this feature implemented?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it on the main site. It is actually working as intended!
I've been getting mixed reports about this. Some say it works, some say it doesn't. The one thing these reports have in common is that none of them tell me which version of MCEdit was used! Without the version number (and dev build number if using dev builds) I can't even tell you if it SHOULD be working. So, if you want to tell me whether the 4096 block ID works (or really, anything at all about MCEdit), PLEASE include your MCEdit version number.
I get too many values to unpack when I try to load my world. Is there any fix to this.
Are you selecting a level.dat? Any clues that might make your problem less difficult to diagnose?
This one showed up in the error reporter so I was able to fix it without too much trouble. It's a bug in the repair regions function caused by when I changed the region file to decompress chunks itself instead of returning a compression byte along with the data.

MCEdit 1.6 / 1.7build374 doesn't support "unstitched" texture packs from Minecraft versions 13w02b and onward.
Yes, this is a priority for 0.1.7. I've already started by telling MCEdit what the blocks' internal names are, which Minecraft uses to find each block's texture file.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 and trying to run the latest version. I did everything required as of these instructions, but when I try to do the command "python mcedit.py", I get this:
(ENV)user@Inferno:~/mcedit$ python mcedit.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "mcedit.py", line 8, in <module>
import OpenGL
ImportError: No module named OpenGL
I don't know what else to really say. Any ideas would be fantastic.
You need to install pyopengl. Try following the instructions again. It could be that you didn't install it while the virtualenv was active.
Ragger: That error is because you are using an old version of pymclevel. After `git pull` you should run `git submodule update` to get the latest version.

I'm pretty sure I fixed this in the dev builds several weeks ago. The related issue is here: https://github.com/mcedit/mcedit/issues/250
Due to popular demand, build 440 (released today) lets you disable the undo recording facility.

Also for those interested, build 373 has the beginning of the 4096 block ID support.
